It has allowed me to keep up with what’s going on. App is easy to navigate and save or send articles. Our hometown newspaper carries little news. Knoxville News Sentinel is excellent in its coverage of both Knoxville area and national news. I am so glad this became available on line. ### 5/5 — Knoxville News!! *2021-09-14, version 3.3.14* I’m old and didn’t think I could ever get used to something called the,” E-Edition!!” But, let me tell you within a couple of days I can now honestly say I’ll NEVER go back to needing to have a hands on experience with my paper. It’s so convenient AND it looks EXACTLY like a paper should look like. The Knox News is an excellent paper with wonderful complete coverage. I could not ask for more and would highly recommend this to ANYONE who is having second thoughts. Plus, the cost is embarrassingly low too. Overall you will NEVER go wrong with this paper. We don’t care. ### 5/5 — Brings the news to your couch *2021-07-04, version 3.2.43* First stop every morning! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Shameful lack of effort *2021-08-15, version 3.3.14* Apart from the fact that the old Knoxville News Sentinel is becoming more and more just USA Today, the app is an embarrassment. It crashes, it freezes when loading editions, it’s sluggish, and you can’t even cancel online. How USA Today/Gannett and now new Media Investment can hope to make any successful transition to online with so little effort and such blatant neglect is beyond me. A “reinvented digital media powerhouse” has its work cut out for itself, majorly. — Update June 20, 2021: now they apparently decided that one of the benefits of PDF, its great sharpness, must be crippled as well. They lowered resolution and it’s all fuzzy now when you zoom in. Update August 15, 2021: the latest version is no improvement — loading takes forever until pages are sharp, some never fully load. Many comics now always pixellated, resolution of paper worse. ### 1/5 — Freezes and have to reboot *2021-07-18, version 3.3.14* Needs reworking bad. Used to work fine. Cannot find any online place to contact NS to complain. Hope someone reads these. The old version was stable but past few weeks just quits randomly and often. ### 1/5 — Previous versions were much better *2020-12-21, version 3.2.43* Since they have updated, I’m consistently getting failures to download parts of the edition and the text view of articles are terrible - bullets are converted to ‘h’, article headlines and opening lines are jumbled together, today, I even found the whole first half of an article had been swapped with the second half. Not sure why this is so difficult ### 2/5 — If you are into sports, this is for you. *2023-03-07* If you want current news, don’t bother. The same stories will still be there in 2 weeks. Almost every story is about sports. If you aren’t into sports, don’t waste your time. As you scroll down to see other stories, the app will scroll back to the top. It’s extremely annoying. ### 2/5 — Review of app *2022-04-02, version 3.6.05* No problems EXCEPT that occasionally, after I’ve used the app DAILY (and only I use the app to read the newspaper), it will ask me to sign in!! This is an unnecessary, in my opinion, step I must then take to simply read my local paper. Makes me MAD every time I must do it. Why HASSLE a customer like that?? You’d think with the death spiral of local subscriptions the paper would be putting NO hurdles in our way. Secondly, and I realize this isn’t directly related to the app, WHY does Knoxnews have foreign people for whom English is a second language, handle customer service?I’m all for diversity, but these people are HARD TO UNDERSTAND and don’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about KNS!! I’m sure they’re cheaper, but you aren’t getting your money’s worth!! ### 3/5 — Review *2023-01-02, version 3.6.05* I miss Parade magazine. And there should be more local news. I read online only when I have to. We receive a daily print paper and will continue that way. ### 3/5 — Love it vs hate it *2022-09-28, version 3.6.05* On a day like today, when our deliver person doesn’t deliver the paper paper, I love having the print page app when it works and hate it when it doesn’t. The mechanics of the web site seem to kick me off my subscription on a pretty frequent basis. Sometimes I can log back in without a problem—except that it’s a waste of time and effort—but sometimes, it will will not let me log in at all- at that time. Some other day, success. At least it restarts at the last page read. ### 3/5 — Too Far Left *2020-12-06, version 3.2.43* I subscribe so I can get information on the university’s sports teams, which I enjoy although John Adam’s is a fair weather kind of guy. Sadly, however, the paper is little more than a mouthpiece for the left, supporting their radical agenda. Getting the print edition digitally means the paper is always available on your schedule. I’m not politically motivated but I would like to see an non biased news paper not just one that only seems to side with the liberal point of view. . And has more local news . I used to love to get up and read local football scores on sat mornings and coverage. That is non existent and even vol coverage is a day behind. Please go back to more local coverage.
