## What is Knurled?

Logging a set should take two taps, not a number pad.

TAP THE WEIGHT, DON'T TYPE IT

Every other lift log hands you an empty number field between sets. Knurled hands you the weight itself. Tap the plates you put on the bar. Tap the dumbbell you pulled off the rack. Knurled draws it, does the math, and shows the total. Add one more and the number moves — no clearing the field and retyping 225 with chalk on your hands.

It works the same way on everything in the building. Barbells with any bar weight, because your gym's safety squat bar is not the same as anyone else's. Plate-loaded machines, drawn as the horn and the plates rather than as a bar that isn't there. Dumbbells, cables, pin stacks, bodyweight, bodyweight plus a belt.

Plates are colour-coded and sized the way they sit in the rack, so the bar on screen reads like the bar in front of you. The small plates get colours of their own, because three shades of grey are impossible to tell apart at arm's length in a busy gym.

Prefer to type? Tap any number and enter it exactly. Knurled remembers your choice per exercise.

BUILT FOR TRAINING THAT REPEATS

Build your split once and run it. Knurled remembers what you lifted last time and suggests the next step as a weight you can actually load — the nearest the plates in your gym allow — rather than an abstract percentage. Supersets, rest timer, notes, and set-by-set history are all there.

Progress is shown as adherence: planned sets against actual sets, so you can see whether you are following the programme you wrote, not just whether the numbers went up.

NO ACCOUNT. NO SERVER. NO SUBSCRIPTION.

There is no sign-up because there is nothing to sign up to. Your training history lives in a database on your phone and nowhere else. There is no account system, no cloud sync, and no analytics profile — not as a policy that could change, but because none of that was ever built.

Anonymous crash reports are the only thing that ever leaves the device, and they contain no training data.

Export everything to CSV whenever you want. It's your data, in a format you can actually open.

DESIGNED FOR A GYM, NOT A DESK

Dark by default. Large numerals you can read at arm's length. Tap targets sized for chalky hands. Colour is never the only signal — every plate carries its number, every change carries an arrow and a word.

Knurled is made by one person who lifts four to six times a week and got tired of doing plate math with a barbell on his back.

### 5/5 — Simplifies working out and NOT OVERWHELMING

*2026-10-15*

So many workout apps - you know the ones - the ones that use funny (but medically misleading) AI ads- or the ones advertised by that one V-something guy- are really just funnels to get you to endlessly drip money.

This developer has made a no BS app that helps you workout… without any nonsense. Great stuff! Also aesthetically the dark with orange is killer :)

### 5/5 — Easy to use, powerful plan/log tool

*2026-10-13*

Been using this as my go to gym log for the last month or so now and have loved it so far. Strongly recommend

### 5/5 — Finally, no more plate math!

*2026-10-11*

I typically never leave reviews but this app is just THAT great! After months of recovery from a recent injury that required many weeks of physical therapy, I have never needed a lift log more than now. I have tried other logs in the past but eventually gave up on them due to them being so cumbersome and time-consuming.

This app is incredibly easy to use and works with literally any workout you could imagine. Life can get busy so optimizing time in the gym is paramount, especially when still recovering from an injury and wanting to track your progress.

I value data privacy very highly and as soon as I opened it the first time I realized this developer built this app with this in mind too. I’m so glad a friend I work out with told me about this app!

### 5/5 — Great if you’re serious about working out

*2026-10-05*

The app has some great features for both casual gym goers(quick workout) and for those serious about hitting new PRs and getting in shape. Long gone are the days where I have search for a good workout, here I just specify what body part (or full body) I want to work out and boom, ready to go.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.4.0 — 2026-10-19

Skip an exercise without losing it.

Machine taken? Skip it mid-session. Knurled logs nothing for it and puts it back in the next workout like it never happened. Works on one half of a superset too.

Progress you can actually read.

Best set now shows the set you did, weight and reps, with the estimated 1RM beside it. The trend uses that estimate, so a lighter set for more reps reads as holding instead of going backwards. 185 for 4 and 175 for 6 come out level.

Weekly volume counts hard sets per muscle and tells you what the number means. Around 6 sets a week holds what you have. 12 to 20 builds.

What it suggests next is bounded by the plates you own. When the smallest jump you can load is too big a jump, it adds a rep instead.

Supersets look like supersets.

A superset is one block now, outlined so you can see where it starts and where it ends. Both exercises stay on screen. Rest runs for the block, not each half.

Still no account, no subscription, no server. Your data stays on your phone.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-23
