## What is KoalaChinese?

KoalaChinese helps children and beginners learn Chinese characters the friendly way. Built around the official HSK 1-7 vocabulary, it
turns characters, words, and example sentences into bite-sized flashcards with pinyin, meanings, natural-voice audio, and animated stroke
  order.

  Features:
  - HSK 1-7 character courses, organised into short lessons
  - Flashcards with pinyin, meaning, and natural Mandarin audio
  - Animated stroke-order practice and copybook writing
  - Spaced-repetition review so learners remember what they study
  - Progress tracking and achievements to keep kids motivated
  - Parent dashboard to follow each child's mastery across HSK levels

KoalaChinese is made by the KoalaChinese Community Association Incorporated, a not-for-profit. We take children's privacy and safety
seriously - see our Privacy Policy and Child Safety Policy at koalachinese.org.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-09-26

• Course preview and a 2-week free switch window — no more worrying about picking the wrong course
• "Mark as done" now asks for confirmation, and can be undone in place if tapped by mistake
• Home navigation refresh: stats moved into settings, added a games hub
• Various small fixes for a smoother experience

### 1.1 — 2026-09-08

• Reading Room and Game Arcade both have a spot in the navigation now. Stats has
moved into Settings, where the Parent Hub already lives, leaving the home
screen for what learners actually use every day.

Fixes

• The home screen greeting no longer gets pushed off screen in a narrow window.
• Today's character cards no longer jump around while they load.
• Removed a settings button on the Review screen that did nothing.
• Spacing on the sign-in buttons, and a background image that overflowed on the
  learning journey.
