Without a functioning app, the headphones time out and turn off pretty quickly. ### 1/5 — Can’t log in to app *2025-06-27, version 3.6.20* The app logged me out as of about a week ago and when I try to log back in I get an SSL error message. When Philips bought the headphones, they started forcing people to pay a subscription for the app, and now they aren’t even maintaining it. It’s ridiculous. Given the product is designed to be conducive to sleep, the constant battle of having to deal with nightly technical gremlins is utterly counterproductive. When I reached out about the charge I was told they’d emailed me to let me know they would be charging my card. Come to find I get a confirmation notice that my “purchase” for a yearly subscription. No prior warning that it was upcoming just a notice that it had already happened. I wrote into customer service and they willingly cancelled but offered no refund. Horrible customer service start to finish for this company. ### 1/5 — App doesn’t work. Cannot create account or log in *2024-11-18, version 3.6.20* Received my sleepbuds today after a 3 week wait. The app isn’t suitable for my old iPhone, which can’t go up to an iOS 16 (it’s not mentioned on the website that this is necessary), so have tried to install the app on my new iOS 17.6.1 iPad, but it just won’t work. SO disappointed for over £200- this isn’t good enough. Now I have to decide whether I want to keep the earbuds and use them without the app. According to other reviews, they don’t block out a partner’s snoring, which renders them rather useless to me. No answer on any platform from customer support 🤷‍♀️ Gutted. ### 3/5 — Headphones adequate, app not so good *2024-08-11, version 3.6.08* The headphones are reasonably comfortable but they can make my ears sore after a few hours but at least you can side sleep. The power button does not always respond first press. If they were true noise cancelling headphones they would be worth the money, but they do not drown out a partner’s snoring. Turning the sound level up to compensate keeps you awake anyway. The app offers a limited range tunes and sounds which do not seem to change. The sleep record is inaccurate, it cannot reliably tell the difference between reading or watching a screen. You cannot see the sleep record until the day after, rather than when you wake. As for the record itself, I have no real idea what to do with the information. ### 4/5 — Why does this app use so much data? *2024-08-07, version 3.6.08* It’s always at the top of the list of most days used on my phone. It makes no sense. But that doesn’t seem to be here anymore. And getting the “eeg” data off of the device? Still doesn’t seem possible - and it doesn’t share sleep data with Apple health. What is the point of this thing other than playing sound snippets ? Unfortunately they only play sound all night long through the Kokoon app and even more unfortunately the app has major issues and is always going down. Current error I get when trying to log in complains about SSL. What? This is just web API 101 stuff, why wouldn’t SSL work? That said, the headphones are great and still work fine with other meditation apps that support Bluetooth. The layered sounds are such a good feature, I love the background noise of rain or a crackling fire whilst I have my audio book on. Creates a lovely atmosphere and I haven’t found any other apps that do this. In terms of physical presence, you barely know they’re on but what a difference they make sleeping! Would highly recommend! ### 5/5 — PTSD *2023-07-26, version 3.3.34* As a veteran diagnosed with PTSD I have found this device very helpful in my search for a sound nights sleep. Data collected daily, when available, is used to better sculpture my sleeping plan. As good as this device is there is a major flaw, data retrieval. Turning off the device upon awakening typically connects to the cloud server and provides you with meaningful data. My experience with this device is data loss without the ability to reconnect to the server thereby loosing that nights data. The second issue is the limited library, especially the hypnosis programs with are powerful tools aiding sleep. Hopefully Phillips will take this device to the next level and correct the flaws.
