Photos you take or pick are now saved inside the app, so your frames stay put even if you delete the photos from the Photos app.

The 3, 2, 1 countdown before recording has a fresh new look.

While your animation plays, the frames behind the editing screen now keep flowing without stopping.

Fixed a problem where the camera and “Add Photos” buttons could stop working after you added more photos.

Even if saving to the Photos app isn't allowed, you can now still finish your video, watch it, and share it.

The app used to require iOS 18 or later, but since I personally got my hands on an older iPad, it now supports iOS 17 too!

The row of frames behind the editing screen now scrolls much more smoothly.

The frame you picked now sits neatly in the middle every time.

Apple Intelligence automatically names recordings:

Instead of default numbered names like "Recording 3", titles are now automatically generated in short Japanese hiragana based on the content of the recording. During creation, neither the audio nor the generated results leave your device. Fully offline!
Only available on supported devices with iOS 26 + Apple Intelligence.


Improved recording reliability and user experience:

Fixed several bugs and improved the appearance. While there is still room for improvement, it is getting better.

1. Sharing “.komakoma” files made simple
  Sharing .komakoma files is now built right into the system Share menu, so you can open them straight from other apps or the Files app. Just long-press your movie and tap Share to send
  it to a friend.

  2. Improved stability
  Fixed crashes during reverse playback (a negative index with two frames) and when closing the zoom transition. These are the very first crashes since the app launched.

  3. A better feel on iPad
  Fixed an issue where the main buttons stretched across the whole screen in iPad portrait mode.

Komakoma now speaks 8 languages.
Japanese, English, Spanish, French, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, and German are all supported. Children around the world can now enjoy making stop-motion animations in their own language.

We've also made a number of small refinements for a smoother experience.
