## What is Komorebi Journal?

You sit in the car for a minute before you start it.

Something happened today. Maybe several things. There was no time to think about any of it while it was happening, and now there's time and no words.

Komorebi is somewhere to put it down.

Pick how the day went. Take a prompt if a blank page is too much. These were written for this work, not adapted from a general journaling app:

"What did you have to let go of today because there wasn't enough time?"
"What's the gap between the care you wanted to give and the care you could give?"
"What are you leaving at the hospital door before you go home?"
"What do you wish someone had asked you today?"
"Who on your team do you want to thank, and for what?"

Then write. One sentence is a real entry. So is one word.

Tag it if you want. The tags are overwhelmed, grateful, heavy, inspired, and frustrated. You can filter by them later, when you want to find the good days or reread the hard ones.

WHAT THE TREE IS FOR

Each entry adds a leaf. Write more and the tree fills in. That's the entire mechanic.

There are no streaks. Nothing breaks if you skip a week, or a month, or a whole rotation of nights. The app will not send you a notification asking where you've been. Come back after eight weeks and the tree is where you left it, with everything you wrote still in it.

YOUR WRITING DOES NOT LEAVE YOUR PHONE

There is no account. Nothing to sign up for, no email, no password.
There are no analytics and no tracking of any kind.
The app makes no network requests. Not for sync, not for backup, not for anything. There is no server holding your entries, because there is no server.

One thing to know before you start: because entries live only on your device, deleting the app deletes them with it. There is no cloud copy to restore from.

SUPPORT NUMBERS, ALWAYS THERE

A screen with 988, the Crisis Text Line, Safe Call Now, and the Emotional PPE Project. Nothing on that screen is triggered by anything you write. It's just always there.

Komorebi (木漏れ日) is the word for sunlight coming through leaves.

### 5/5 — Incredible!

*2026-09-09*

This app beautifully helps healthcare workers process all of the post-shift emotions, from the heavy and burdensome to the inspiring and life-giving feelings that patient care can invoke. Having this app is a great tool that I use to reflect on the daily sorrows that healthcare brings, the big successes, and everything in between. With several mental health resources at my fingertips through this app, I believe that this is an incredible resource to help prevent burnout in health care workers!
