### 5/5 — Painless Learning

*2017-02-13, version 1.0.8*

Learn how to pronounce any word in Hangul. This little app seamlessly helped me pronounce words, so that I am able to speak them into a translator app. Yes, it's true that I could have just taken a picture in a translator app such as Google Translate. But by pronouncing the words, I feel I am able to memorize and retain more vocabulary from other apps and my surroundings.

Learned all my Hangul letters in a couple of hours.
Brilliant app! If only learning to understand the language were as easy as learning the letters!!

It is a good learning tool to learn the alphabet.

### 5/5 — Great

*2016-11-30, version 1.0.8*

Well worth the money. Easy and intuitive way to learn the letters. By the end of the program, you will be able to read several short words.

### 5/5 — Surprisingly intuitive and useful

*2016-09-20, version 1.0.8*

This app does a shockingly good job at teaching you. Makes it all very natural. Fell in love with 10 minutes of the free version and decided to buy it. No regrets.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2016-08-27, version 1.0.8*

This app does precisely what it states it will do. Very effective tool for learning to read and write Korean. A great first step for language learners. I don't intend to use any other flash cards or software for my initial phase in learning Korean.
Follow up: I just finished the entire course. This app WILL teach you to read Korean letters and phonemes. One of the best apps on the market.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No sounds no menu

*2017-04-09, version 1.0.8*

It just throws you in. I need help with diphthongs , double consonants, pronunciation rules for last letter and this app helps with none of those. It's just romanization writing of what it should sound like and as anyone who has studied Hangul, that isn't enough to learn Hangul.

### 1/5 — No lesson or basics just words to read..

*2017-02-25, version 1.0.8*

May as well look in a book

### 1/5 — Overpriced

*2016-01-22, version 1.0.8*

Application does not have instructions how to use. Letters on a screen. Many other applications, free are better than this application. Not worth 10 cents!

### 3/5 — Good app

*2012-07-09, version 1.0.8*

The app is good and very effective, but for some of the chapters, the readings for the characters doesn't show up when you tap on the character.

### 4/5 — Great app but sound doesn’t work on iPhone 10 anymore

*2019-12-15, version 1.1.0*

Is there a fix?

### 4/5 — Great Hangul practice

*2016-04-18, version 1.0.8*

I've enjoyed using this app, one chapter every day. I can read Korean now!

### 4/5 — Excellent app

*2016-03-20*

I like this app a lot and learned the Hangul alphabet really quickly. The great repetition and final reviews at the end make sure you understand that you are learning the alphabet. There are no explanations and you jump right into it. My only complaint is they the app does crash somewhat often. If that could be addressed that would be great. Also if you could throw in more examples that would add too. 19 lessons was to short and would like to add more words like in conversation . Overall great app I recommend the purchase.

### 4/5 — Very helpful

*2015-10-13, version 1.0.8*

This app was very helpful in learning the Korean alphabet. It had a lot of repetition that reinforces the meaning of each vowel or consonant. The only complaint I have is that it was really good at explaining the meaning of the letter with the English letters when it first introduced a new symbol but later on it did not show this information. I had to refer to another app to understand.

### 4/5 — Easy learning but slightly overpriced

*2014-06-06, version 1.0.8*

Could recognize syllables in 2 hours of practice with this. Keeps it simple, but I wish there were a couple explanations or a quiz option for the price. There are 3 or 4 syllables that sound the same and we can't tell how to differentiate. Overall great app, but a bit too expensive without other features.

### 4/5 — Very effective for early hangul learners

*2013-11-01, version 1.0.8*

I just tried this app on a whim and now I know hangul. The slides actually make memorizing the hanguls almost feel like a game, it's very easy to learn the different shapes for the sounds they make. The only complaint I have is that the earlier chapters include roman spellings with the 'eo' 'k' 'ch' etc, but towards the end where there are several characters that really sound the same, there was no more spelling guidance. I can't differentiate the different ways to spell wae(?). It'll be great if that can be fixed.
화이팅!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — practical, simple, and elegant. bravo.

*2022-06-04*

This creators of this app really tried to understand where and how a beginner (like me) may become confused while learning Hangul and creativity addressed it. There is a purposeful sequencing of the characters using gentle repetition to keep the learner on their toes. This was especially helpful for me to distinguish between characters that mirror each other in appearance.
The minimalist look and feel of this app makes it a pleasure to learn with. There is no unnecessary narration or content to wade through. This makes it easy to go back and review precisely what you want.
After struggling with flash cards, you tube videos, and a couple other apps, this is the one that made me feel like I am getting a handle on it.
 Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2021-09-21*

I love this app, I only wish that there was a version or add on or something with different sounds like “봐, 끔, 되” to name a few to get used to hearing those sounds more. But other that that the app is great for listening and reading practice

### 5/5 — AMAZING!,

*2020-12-27*

This app is so good! I was able to learn and get a basic understand of 한골 within two days! I am now practicing to read more fluently to get better at it! This is app is defeintly amazing!

### 5/5 — amazing

*2020-04-26*

i'm only 13 and now i can read hangul with no experience because of this app and i love this app and i am very thankful for this app its truly amazing

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2019-05-08*

I recently moved to Korea and I’ve been using Korean Letters to help me learn Hangul. This app has given me a strong base of understanding the phonics of Korean. I am now able to read Hangul and that is helping me to learn more vocabulary. Koreans compliment me on my pronunciation and I think a big part of that is the clear audio and well done pronunciation by the native speaker on this app. My only suggestion is to allow a shortcut to the page that shows all of the letters learned so far. Sometimes I want to hear the pronunciation of one letter and it can be a annoying to flip through to the alphabet page or to find the specific section covering that letter.

### 5/5 — Actually the best Hangul learning app

*2019-03-08, version 1.1.0*

I’ve tested every app and I really think this is the best one for learning Hangul. There is no romanisation, the audio is clear and the interface is simple. But most importantly the structure of the lessons teaches you implicitly how a vowel works by combining it with different consonants, and how a consonant works by combining it with different vowels.

It’s maybe not as fun as using Scripts (by Drops) or something similar though.

### 5/5 — Freaking amazing

*2018-09-11*

Okay so first let me start off by saying today is September 10th 2018 because I haven’t seen any recent reviews but whew let me tell yall GO AHEAD AND BUY THIS if you were like me and you were skeptical about it because you didn’t know if it actually worked or not it does!! but incase you still don’t trust it theres a shorter app version but it only let’s you get so far. I started on this app at about 7:30pm it is now 10:33pm and I can literally read hangul fluently and I’m not even bluffing this app is really amazing THIS COMMENT IS NOT SPONSORED IN ANY WAY THIS IS COMING FROM MY MOUTH!!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2018-07-18*

This app is a great start to learning korean, would definitely recommend.

### 5/5 — Perfect for Beginners learning Korean

*2018-07-14*

This app is better than the many apps I have used. I can move at my own pace and I find it easier to read and write in Korean. For anyone starting to learn Korean, learn Hangul first that way you will have a strong foundation that will help you learn quicker. This app is a must have. This is the only app that I have purchased and it’s better than the more expensive apps that I have. Love, love love!!

### 5/5 — Fastest way I've found over the initial hurdle of reading Korean

*2017-11-21*

I've surprised myself and my Korean friends and family by how well I could pronounce Hangeul after just a few practice sessions. Love this app, love the progression from simple to complex. I was inspired to learn more about the history of Hangeul itself, too.

I've had this app ever since I had my iPhone 3G (so, at least seven years), and I still show it to friends when they ask how I learned to read Korean.
