### 4/5 — The Sound

*2024-02-26, version 2*

Maybe it is just my phone, but I couldn’t hear the messages when I tapped it several times, just a little bug so it’s alright but didn’t help the fact that I didn’t know how to pronounce.

### 4/5 — Very good app, just one suggestion

*2023-10-17, version 2*

Please give an option to turn off the obnoxiously loud DINGG every time you get something right! It makes me have to turn sound completely off when around people which isn’t helpful to hear sentences.
otherwise awesome app.

### 4/5 — Fix the display size. Otherwise great!

*2022-09-12, version 1.1*

In some lessons, answers are obscured by the next button so can’t progress any further.
Would have given five stars if not for this. Very user friendly otherwise.

### 4/5 — He aha atu

*2022-04-12, version 1.1*

How do I move on

### 3/5 — Keeps crashing

*2021-10-29, version 1.1*

I love this app and it’s so easy to use but it keeps crashing and I have to restart my lesson each time

### 3/5 — Mixed review

*2021-09-03, version 1.1*

Guys, love the app, just one issue. Your next and previous buttons don’t scale properly on smaller screen sizes like the 1st gen iphone se. As an app dev myself I struggle to understand how you passed the apple review process. You should fix this.

### 4/5 — Learning tonnes

*2021-07-07, version 1.1*

I like this app a lot, I like that it uses phrases that you’d actually use in real life and how it uses repetition. I don’t know if it was on purpose but under practice additional phrases it has the blue words as the topic of the lesson except it doesn’t tell you what the blue words are as part of a sentence I.e kei...tonu... like you kinda have to figure it out yourself, which for me I kind of like figuring it out on my own that the tonu is “still”. I dunno maybe others need to be told directly what it means. Also lesson four part 2, the second sentence I don’t think the word “hoki” is meant to be in there, just my thoughts? Otherwise all round I enjoy the app and am learning heaps so ngā mihi :)

### 4/5 — Teno pai

*2021-03-17, version 1.1*

This is an awesome app, but it’s started crashing on me and I have to keep reopening it to restart lesson, once fixed I will mark 5 stars

### 4/5 — Great app... screen size problem

*2021-02-02, version 1.1*

Thanks for creating this great app. On the iPhone X I can’t complete some screens as the answers are hidden below the ‘previous’ button & the screen won’t scroll.

### 3/5 — ‘Next lesson’ button covering answer

*2020-11-17, version 1.1*

Couldn’t move on as the button taking me to the next page of lesson was covering an answer so that I couldn’t select it

### 4/5 — Finally a decent app

*2020-09-17, version 1.1*

I have been looking for a good app for Te reo especially with pronunciation that I can copy. Really don’t think the recoding needs to include the English translation though.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t access buttons.

*2023-03-19, version 1.1*

It was okay until I could not access buttons.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2021-09-14, version 1.1*

Navigation buttons (“Previous” & “Next”) cover some of the answers in the lessons making them unworkable.

### 1/5 — Crashing

*2021-08-30, version 1.1*

Hi
I have just started using the app, I’m having issues with it crashing during lessons and having to start over, it’s happed at different questions as I tap an answer.

iPadOS 14.4

### 2/5 — Button placement

*2022-04-05, version 1.1*

Hey I can’t click some of the answers cause the button is over the top of some of the answer. The previous button is on top of the right answer and I can’t click the button underneath

### 2/5 — Crashes over and over again

*2020-09-21, version 1.1*

I’m enjoying the app but it keeps crashing and I have to keep starting at the beginning again

### 3/5 — Back button issues

*2024-07-12, version 2*

Nice idea but the back button on iPhone 12 doesn’t work. I have to close the app to be able to go back to the menu.

### 3/5 — Love the content but the app keeps crashing

*2023-12-23, version 2*

Love the content but the app keeps crashing

### 3/5 — PREVIOUS ( can’t pick the option behind )

*2022-04-19, version 1.1*

Can’t pick the option behind the previous tab

Otherwise good app so far

### 3/5 — App usage

*2022-03-11, version 1.1*

App continuously shuts down and I have to restart the section I was working on.

### 3/5 — Just starting

*2021-11-01, version 1.1*

I have only just started with the app. Doing the first lesson. Matching the missing word from the list below - because they’ve put the “previous” button over the word the user is unable to select the correct word and therefore unable to advance any further. I’ve tried turning the screen round but it doesn’t work. Frustrating

### 5/5 — Love iit

*2025-02-26, version 2*

Thank you for this app ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2021-09-05, version 1.1*

This app has been very helpful.
One thing I noticed when I started to learn the reo is that it’s unreal how hard it is to find a good learning tool. I spent months and got no where. I almost felt as if I wasn’t allowed or good enough to learn the language as I found it near impossible to find a learning tool. This app has been great!

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2021-06-21, version 1.1*

Really awesome app! I have taken a course at uni in conversational māori and this app helps reinforce what I’ve learnt and test my reo. In the last day though, the app closes after 5 minutes of use and I have to reopen again.

### 5/5 — Tēnā koutou :-)

*2021-04-10, version 1.1*

Beautiful design, easy to practice and go back and forward to try again. Great voiceS. And Grammar concepts and structure of te reo Māori feels natural.

### 5/5 — Ka Rawe!!!

*2021-01-03, version 1.1*

Awesome app - came across this yesterday so easy and fun to use. Would be awesome if you could turn off and on the English voice over and text for the final Kōrero :)

### 5/5 — Finally a good app to start to learn te reo Maori

*2020-11-30, version 1.1*

I’ve been looking for years, especially in 2020, for an app to help me get started learning some te reo Maori that I can use in real life.
( I like Duolingo for practising languages I learned in school but Maori has taken years to make it to the incubator. There are a bunch of apps that help you practise word lists - but this won’t get you talking and it’s pot lock if you get words you might actually use.)

Finally, this app actually has me murmuring relevant sentences as I wander about the house, has them echoing in my mind when I start to speak to people, and after just the first lesson (broken up into little bites so you can stop start and repeat as you like), I think I might just be able to get the hang of this!

I’ve just completed the first lesson yesterday and I ran through it once more today to make sure I know it.
I use the technique that they teach in SaySomethingIn: read the English sentence and then just throw yourself into speaking the Maori sentence, pressing play as I do so the native speaker echoes me, and I then echo her/him back again. It can be tough at first (if the language is too unfamiliar) but it gets you speaking more naturally much faster. You can use the app exercises any way you like.
This app has chosen really excellent phrases (useful but also beautifully rhythmic and alliterative = repeating sounds) as well as outstanding readers/speakers to copy. They say the sentences in a way that makes it easy to practise a natural way of speaking.

Oh, and they throw in a bit of grammar so you can start to understand how the sentence is made, repeating phrases with small changes so you can see how to use the structure (really helpful!)...but you don’t have to focus on that. Eventually it will just make sense.

Really excited!

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2020-11-26, version 1.1*

This app is really engaging!

### 5/5 — This app slaps

*2020-11-19*

I don’t write reviews ever but this slaps. I haven’t gotten very far but it’s really well structured and I really like how practical the phrases and vocabulary I’m learning are. I really like all the verbal components, the audio is good and clear without sounding fake. 10/10 would recommend :)

### 5/5 — Ka rawe!

*2020-09-16, version 1.0*

Love this app. Really useful phrases for everyday life. The whole family is enjoying it!

### 5/5 — Outstanding-I’m addicted

*2020-09-16, version 1.0*

Thank you for this fantastic app! It has made learning more Te reo Maori so accessible. User friendly, excellent app! Highly recommend!
