However, it’s really frustrating to click on a story just to get a “404 / page not found” error code. The person or persons who types up stories for the app often has misspelled words and very poor grammar (unless that’s how the anchors are speaking these days). Sometimes, it will be three days before there is any new content added. Is there really nothing new in the news for three full days? Or does CBS7 only have one person updating the app that doesn’t work weekends or holidays? ### 2/5 — ADS/SPAM DISGUISED AS NEWS IS ANNOYING *2020-03-20, version 1.2.9* As a cord cutter, I rarely watch live TV anymore and rely on apps like these for my local news. What bothers me is the placement of all of the ads on each page that are made to look like news articles. What is worse is that most are straight-up dishonest, spam or inappropriate. For example, one ad said “New Affordable Housing in Midland is Turning Heads”. You click on it and not only does it have nothing to do with Midland, it had even less to do with affordable housing. It was a spam link page that took you to other spam link pages. Most ads have scantly clad women or other non-family friendly content. I think the ad provider is “Outbrain”. Consider real local ads that matter to us and not just spammy crap that makes y’all look like you fell for a Nigerian Phone scam from a shady developer that just threw your RSS feed in a spam bot template. PLEASE, use your own app and PLEASE be honest and recognize that the crap ads and spam on each page do not represent your news station in a positive light. I would be embarrassed. ### 1/5 — *Freezes all the time* *2019-07-28, version 1.2.4* You would think that this app would be convenient for someone who doesn’t have social media but it’s NOT. runs very slow & freezes in the middle of an article. Constantly having to refresh!!! ### 1/5 — Commercials, commercials, commercials... *2019-03-05, version 1.2.1* I used the app for news, but now you have to watch seemingly endless commercials before you get to their teaser stories. Not worth it. I would pay for an ad free app as I have done with other apps. On a breaking news story I’ll swipe and the story is about 5 stories down, not the first one popping up. ### 2/5 — Notification settings don't work *2017-09-06, version 1.1.3* I like this app, however, I am very close to deleting due to UNWANTED notifications. My settings for "notifications" are set to receive "Breaking News" and "Weather Alerts" ONLY, but I am still getting "Happening Today" notifications. I require VITAL information ONLY, not the annoyance of looking at my watch only to see a "Happening Today" notice. So what's up with giving the illusion of allowing personalized configuration of notification preferences???? ### 2/5 — Ads! Grammar! Spelling! BAD *2017-08-29, version 1.1.3* I am so sick of the AIM bank ad. It stays on too long. The other ads are the same junk ads that are all over Yahoo News and the stories have nothing to do with the title of the ad. I don't understand how the reporters got their job. The grammar is somewhere on the elementary level. How did they even graduate high school? The lack of vocabulary skills and poor spelling make me cringe. The biggest frustration I see is your lack of ability for comments to be posted about a story, Your agency is timely with stories and events, but you fail at engaging in the feedback of your community.
