Must be paid reviews because the KPRC weather guy, Anthony Yáñez, rarely gets the forecast right. As I sit here typing this, the app says 20% chance of rain all day yet it’s storming at my house. Last night, Yanez said the rain would be gone by 4 am yet here we are at 9:15 am with thunder and pouring rain. If I did my job as poorly as whoever does the forecasting for this app, I’d probably lose it. Do better, channel 2. ### 3/5 — Widget stopped working *2026-03-13, version 7.1.0* I added a widget to my iPad Home Screen for this app some time ago so I can see the hourly weather at all times. I quit working yesterday and the widget now only says I must agree to the Terms and Conditions before I can use the widget. I couldn’t figure how to actually agree so I deleted the app and reinstalled it. I immediately saw the terms and conditions and clicked on Agree. It made no difference. ### 4/5 — Icons *2025-08-30, version 7.0.4* For the most part I like the app but the location icons on the radar map are way too big. And the location descriptor label is very annoying. It covers the area you are trying to see and takes several taps to get rid of. I would prefer it didn’t even appear. Displays everything sideways! Been a problem since the new version was released. Thank you KPRC 2 & developers for listening to your users! ******Update 6/22/25 update released 2 weeks ago ruined Radar feature of app. It lingers thru past & stops at NOW! So you now have no way to see where storm may be heading. This makes the app useless to me as I used it multiple times a day during stormy weather to determine if I needed to give my senior dog medication to help her with thunder anxiety. Developers PLEASE fix this issue ASAP. ****** Latest update has taken a great app & turned it into a cluttered mess. I can't imagine who signed off on this update. It is a downgrade of every feature. You have to click through layers of useless static to get to what you need. Previous app was GREAT! The developers of this app have let users down. All of the ads look like a shameless money grab & leave users in the lurch. Used to be my go to hurricane tracker, now it is unusable. Filled with ads and watered down by combining countless other weather nonsense. If you’re looking for a good hurricane tracker, like this used to be, go somewhere else. This is no longer it. Very disappointed. You lost a longtime user and advocate. Don’t trust the 4.8 rating, that was the old version. ### 1/5 — Radar *2025-06-30, version 7.0.0* Don’t know what they did with their update but the Weather Radar used to be great but it is useless now. It only shows about an hour or so before the current time and then stops at the current time and no longer shows storms conditions moving forward, as it used to show. Get the Doppler Radar or Houston Weather 26 apps and the Radar will show storms conditions about 1-2 hours forward, so much better. ### 1/5 — Terrible update *2025-06-26, version 7.0.0* Latest version is terrible. On a clear bright sunny day you’ll have time to figure out how to use the app. But when it’s seriously scary weather, just don’t bother with this app. Find an app that can give you the quickest and most accurate weather info in an easy to use and easy to understand format. I have to slide the bar to get the radar to work because it won’t play or load. Took away the future feature so now you have to click back and forth between current and future weather. I have always had problems with it crashing, but after upgrade to IOS 26, the KPRC weather app won’t even open. But every day you’ll get these alerts from the meteorologist. There isn’t a way to turn it off without turning off all alerts. New style and design is useless. Has a razor thin bar to select what should/used to be in a menu. You can barely select what you want. The 10 day forecast is now horizontal so it doesn’t even fit in the screen. The whole update is just dumb and useless. ### 5/5 — Excellent App! *2024-05-18* I LOVE this app. KPRC’s meteorologists put together regular daily updates; this adds a nice personalized touch because I watch KPRC News daily and can hear the meteorologists' voices as I read each update. More importantly, these updates contain **useful** information. The execution of this app is impressive and I’m proud of the KPRC team; this team is the cream of the crop when it comes to local news (the meteorologists, developers, EVERYONE involved in creating this app). Go Houston! ### 5/5 — Great weather app *2023-01-18* The KPRC 2 weather app is far superior to the app included with the iPhone. The ability to easily see the weather radar, and zoom in and out on it lets me accurately predict rain for my exact location for the next hour or two. And the ability to turn on/off layers such as lightning strikes is also a great feature. I also have a few other locations across the country as favorites, allowing me to quickly see the weather in remote locations where my daughters live. ### 5/5 — A Necessity for me! *2022-09-17, version 6.13.2* I check this site every day so I’ll know what to wear for work. I work in a location where I’m subject to winds & high/low temperatures. I can always find the information I need right down to the hours I’ll need gloves, hat, extra layers of clothing or short/long sleeves. I love getting alerts to know when rain is near and being able to watch the radar check today tomorrow and a 10 day forecast. This time of year and Houston it's also great to be able to track the hurricanes. This is one of only a few apps that will still work on my older iPad. They are genuinely interested in your knowing how to prepare for the different aspects of your experience. Because you have their forecast throughout the day, you can ACCURATELY plan your outdoor fun!!! ### 5/5 — Weather at my fingertips *2021-12-03, version 6.11.2* I added Frank’s app while watching the weather on KPRC2, and now I check it several times throughout the day. It helps me know how to dress, even just going from Texas City to Galveston daily. Not only do I get my own dependable forecast, I’ve added my children’s locations in MI and OR so I know how to pack when visiting. The added feature of a morning pop-up is a bonus too!
