### 5/5 — Fantastic game; Lots of Potential

*2024-07-16, version 1.20*

TL;DR: great game, worth the download, needs better AI.

Love how polished and clean everything looks. Clearly has had a lot of work put into it. Gameplay is pretty straight forward (tactics is a different story 😅). My only issue is that the AI in single player is quite dumb. Good enough to learn the game and for those struggling, but after about two to four games there isn’t any point to keep playing the AI. This wouldn’t be an issue if there was a ton of online people playing, but there just isn’t. I know the dev mentioned in someone else’s review that they are working on harder AI, so if they do, then this game will get a definite five stars.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-01-13, version 1.19*

Awesome game maybe later down the line u could release a game where units have more freedom to move and implement more types of forests and hills that effect stats similar to the tabletop Kriegspiel war games

### 5/5 — Still learning, enjoying a lot!

*2024-01-12, version 1.19*

I have been really enjoying this game and learning the mechanics. So far I have only played the computer as I don’t usually have time for an online. I really wish there was more difficult AI to play against! I’m also trying to convince my friends to play this with me.

### 5/5 — The Classic Strategy Boardgame.

*2023-11-19, version 1.19*

Great UI, if only every tablet game were this clean and uncluttered!
Players simulate Napoleonic tactics with cavalry, infantry, and artillery. No dice. it’s somewhere between chess/shogi and an entry level wargame. It really teaches you the importance of combined arms tactics, and even more so the importance of keeping open clean lines of command back to your HQ.… units that’s are out of command become easy prey for the enemy.

It’s very clean and intuitive gameplay, but deep. The AI is fairly weak, and playing it you will feel like Napoleon versus the Austrians, but it’s good enough to teach you the basics.

If I had one request to the developer, it would be nice if we had a couple of alternate maps to play on, although I realize getting one just right must take a lot of work. Also, the tutorial could use some explanation of retreat.

### 5/5 — Chess but better.

*2023-10-26, version 1.18*

This is a amazing strategy game. I hope it takes off. The only thing I feel is lacking is that practice mode could use some more difficult settings.

### 5/5 — Its amazing but..

*2023-09-07, version 1.17*

The game is fun to play, but is very repetitive after a while and i would love to see some updates, different maps maybe? I would also like to see harder Ai as nobody plays this game for online, and the current Ai is far too easy.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2023-08-11, version 1.17*

I really love the concept of the game, considering I was trying to find games like this!

### 5/5 — Superb game

*2023-02-18, version 1.16*

This game is clearly a labor of love. The developer has built a very user friendly UI that helps make this complex and very rich game approachable to beginners. Great work!

### 5/5 — Very good

*2022-09-15, version 1.16*

Excellent. Looking forward to varying levels of AI. However one more thing. Why don’t you turn this into a real Kriegspiel simply by using fog of war like the darkness chess variant. Thereby I do not see the other pieces and they cannot see mine. Can you do this? This would be brilliant if you could. As it is it looks based onThe War Game. I am also guessing that introducing fog of war is not easy but maybe it could be done.

### 5/5 — Always heard of this mythical game

*2022-09-10, version 1.16*

I learned about the Game of War back in college while studying DeBord and the Situationists and was super interested in trying it out some day. The game itself seemed so complex and talk of coefficients, but the way it was talked about: “ I [DeBord] played this game, and in the often difficult conduct of my life drew a few lessons from it — setting rules for my life, and abiding by them.” So the fact that this exists in such an accessible format with so much help and with so much further potential and transparency at this current moment is truly special. I am very excited to sink my teeth further into this and introduce it to my friends!

### 1/5 — Single player really doesn’t work…

*2025-05-25, version 1.20*

If you play it long enough (at least on a cell), it doesn’t work. It stops attacking. Nothing can be moved. Everything just sits around blinking and you can’t do anything not tells you anything. I wonder if the developer has tried playing a single player practice? Too bad. I thought this would be good. It looks good but that is where it stops. Still looking for a good strategy single player game. A good idea done poorly. Deleted and still looking. Right now Pixel Pro Baseball is good. Adios amigo!

### 1/5 — Review

*2024-09-04, version 1.20*

Hate this I’ve tried the tutorial and also the attack maneuvers it shows me, I can’t attack?? I try clicking and doing everything but it doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Bro stop

*2024-01-15, version 1.19*

i hate this game i uninstall but it still send me notification

### 1/5 — Crash

*2023-10-24, version 1.18*

Started to play vs Computer but it kept crashing. Deleted

### 1/5 — Looks good but unplayable.

*2023-07-20*

Game instantly crashes as soon as I move the first unit I’m the tutorial. It looks fun but I literally cannot play. Please fix ):

**Developer response:** thanks i'll investigate the problem. in the meantime can you try muting sound effects (in the game settings).. and see if that fixes it?

### 2/5 — 3-Stars until harder AI

*2024-08-11, version 1.20*

Kriegspiel is a refreshing take on the turn-based strategy franchise, building around the combined geometry of individual models. The flow is steady and deliberate, and conflict resolves in satisfying ways. Unfortunately, with the AI limited to easy, and the multiplayer being non-existant, the challenge wears off the moment you learn how to win. Please make harder AI, or the game will not be fun

### 2/5 — Wish you could play harder AI

*2024-05-14, version 1.19*

This game seems right up my alley but you only get challenged if you play against someone else and on someone else’s timeline. I wish there was a harder difficulty available when playing against the app

### 2/5 — Please fix

*2023-10-29, version 1.18*

Playing with AI is buggy. Every time I decide to end my turn or just tap my screen, the game just quits :(

### 4/5 — super addicting!

*2023-11-21, version 1.19*

incredibly simple and easy to learn, yet incorporates lots of strategy. the graphics enhance the experience imho. my only two complaints are that nobody ever seems to be online to play and the practice bot is waaay too easy. also it would be nice to have a board editor to make your own scenarios or recreate historical battles

### 4/5 — Looks good but unplayable. (FIXED)

*2023-07-27, version 1.17*

Game instantly crashes as soon as I move the first unit I’m the tutorial. It looks fun but I literally cannot play. Please fix ): EDIT: Game dev told me how to fix the issue, so I’m editing it to 4 stars since I can actually play now. Probably will be 5 if I really like it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s Great

*2026-03-30, version 1.20*

I like the game a lot, but could you make the combat circle display both attack and defence in vertical orientation? Also, you can capture arsenals with relays. Anyways, it’s a very good game. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2025-09-17, version 1.20*

I’ve been enjoying the game for a few years now and finally getting around to writing a review. Took me a while to understand the gameplay mechanics but a fun strategy game to play!

### 5/5 — line of communication fails to show

*2025-09-05, version 1.20*

Line of communication fails to show in grids far from its origins, while the “invisible line” still functions.

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-02-27, version 1.20*

Please add difficulties to offline mode

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-02-18, version 1.20*

Prof. Galloway is awesome for doing this. I’ve also read some of his translations of French philosophical work — always exquisite.

### 5/5 — MORE MAPS

*2024-12-02*

More map

### 5/5 — Hidden Opportunities

*2024-11-01, version 1.20*

This game has a ton of potential, can’t wait for more updates

### 5/5 — Absolutely amazing

*2024-10-18*

Great game

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2024-09-12, version 1.20*

Good strategy game to play with friends, you can make custom formations and use all sorts of strategies. No annoying ads either

### 5/5 — Amazing Game: Keep up the good work

*2024-09-04, version 1.20*

This game is super fun and amazing. The mechanics take time to grasp but it is super fun for me! There should be more open maps and strategies to use. Additionally, more players should be able to play together. Great idea and Keep up the good work!
