I keep opening and force closing it and it keeps doing it. It randomly just goes away too. Another issue is the audio will come on even when my phone is on silent and I didn’t even push anything. I love watching KRON 4 news. The video opens and even if you close out the video, the sound of the video keeps playing and the only way to stop it is to either close the app or turn the phone volume all the way down. This is incredibly annoying when you just want to read some news. Sometimes the video springs up when you are midway through reading an article, and there’s no way to read the rest of the article. Video content should be clearly marked, and there should be a way to stop video within the app, or even better, opt out of all video content. There’s a dearth of quality print news in the Bay Area, and I was hoping this app would fill the gap. No such luck. I deleted and later reinstalled the app, hoping it was a update thing. And the constant ads that take me away from the article I'm reading are so annoying. I like the articles but your app gets one star. They do not do honest reporting everything is slanted to fit a political agenda ### 1/5 — Laid off Darya and withholds her severance after 27 years of work *2025-12-14, version 502.0.2* I used to enjoy starting my morning with Kron 4 news, and really enjoyed Darya for the way she energized my morning. I just read in SFGate that they laid her off and refuses to pay her severance after 27 years of work, because they are planning to replace her with much cheaper labor. I’ve stopped watching the station now and am disappointed in how they handled this. ### 1/5 — KRON4 owned by Nexstar *2025-09-19, version 501.0.0* Don’t support media companies that carry out unconstitutional censorship ordered by this regime. ### 1/5 — Used to be great *2025-06-21, version 500.8.0* I’ve been a long time fan of KRON4 and often start with them for local Bay Area news. Something went sideways with their app, however, and I’m deleting it today. For the developers, local news is local news.. no personalization is needed. You get a lot of ad viewing as it was, but the popups now make this app pointless. When the local news company is insisting on tracking the viewers, I will choose to find the news elsewhere. The notifications preference page is too large for the screen so you cannot hit “continue” and get out of the notifications screen to get back into the latest news page. ### 1/5 — Horrible auto play commercials *2023-04-22, version 41.20.0* I have turned off the auto play of videos in the settings and they still turn on. Is this a way to for the app to get money from ads? They won’t stop playing. A truly horrible experience and they have the most articles locally. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail. One day, my kid pointed out to me, “Why are you watching this horrible news channel? All they talk about is killing, dying, and terrible stories.” That made me realize how negative the content had become. So, I recently decided to download the KRON news app, and I’ve noticed their coverage offers a much better variety — including positive stories, important updates, technology, and meaningful local news around the Bay Area. They focus on reality without overemphasizing violent crime like KTVU does.
