Just me? *2025-07-03, version 7.0.1* I can no longer see radar a couple of hours into the future using the KSAT weather app. The only option I have is the last 24 hours ending with right now-this minute. When I looked in settings, it didn’t give me an option to look at say, the next couple of hours to see if it’s gonna rain so I know to pack an umbrella. In other words, this app is almost useless to me now and I will be using others so that I can find a current radar. Is there something I’m missing? Something obvious that I can’t see to get this information? ### 2/5 — In serious need of improvements *2025-06-04, version 6.90.30* This app has been my go-to for local weather for quite some time. However, the revamping of the app several months ago (editing this review as June 4, 2025, though the xperience still remains the same) hasn't made the experience very pleasant. Almost everything about the older format version was much more user-friendly including the various radar maps. For one, the app could be viewed in portrait or landscape mode, which is a big deal when using the app on an iPad, in particular, or tablets in general. This format does not allow this on an iPad. The layout was far more easier to navigate overall and less condensed; live newscast updates and important weather alerts were at the top followed by daily, hourly and weekly forecasts, pollen counts, etc., which were displayed in a way that appeared better organized whereas now everything just seems very compacted, cluttered, and thrown together. With weather updates, the user is practically directed to the website within the app versus providing the updates directly on the app. The older radar maps were simplistic yet functional and very reliable, and less difficult to navigate. This version is just all-around buggy and needs reworking. Another feature that would be extremely useful is the ability to see and toggle on and off any warnings on the radar. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2025-05-10, version 6.90.30* Unfortunately after the update this app has never worked properly. I like using the radar and it is TERRIBLE now. The app is also not user friendly and hard to navigate. I will be having to download a different one for reliability and usability. ### 2/5 — Used to be good *2025-04-22, version 6.90.30* I used to love this app. But recent updates have made me feel like maybe I should switch. When you go to forecast update you can’t even read the forecast. Every time you touch the screen anywhere on the page to scroll through the forecast it pops up with adds. Makes it impossible to view the forecast. I even deleted the app and added it back. Same thing. Sorry ksat but unless you fix this soon I am moving on. ### 2/5 — New version IS TERRIBLE *2025-04-05, version 6.90.30* I don’t know why they changed the app but ever since they switched over to this new version it is HORRIBLE. the old version has way better functionality. I hate having to wait after a random ad that I can’t physically skip because the button won’t work before the weather update. I also can’t turn off the captions on the videos which get in the way of the actual video. Everything feels so clunky and way worse than before. Hire a new app designer and interface designer PLEASE. I reinstalled to see if it has been fixed because the pictures on the app apparently hadn’t been updated. Unfortunately it’s still the new update. It’s really hard to dread anything. ### 2/5 — Old app, where did you go? *2025-02-20, version 6.90.27* The old app was amazing, and definitely the best weather app out there. The new app is not good. The KSAT weather team is amazing, and I love the live updates when things are going down. I get the corporate peeps want to make money off of this, but there are ways of doing that without completely destroying an amazing app. They did the exact opposite and ruined the app. I now use The Weather Channel’s app more often than I use this one, and that is sad. Please bring the old app back. Also, stop with the 10 millions pop up ads. It is annoying. If it weren’t for the fact I love the KSAT team, I wouldn’t even use this app. ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2025-02-13, version 6.90.27* I preferred the old app. I have issues navigating the new app to get information and don’t feel it’s well presented from a UX perspective. The radar also doesn’t show as far back in the past anymore and the future radar is effectively useless. I also wish the video and written forecasts were easier to find on the front page. ### 1/5 — Blocking Advertisements *2025-02-03, version 6.90.26* I don’t mind advertisements on the bottom or side or have a top banner showing this but to use an advertisement that blocks your entire view of the weather is aggravating. Considering uninstalling and finding a new weather app. I’m very sad about this because I love the meteorologists and I’ve had this app for I would say close to 10 years. I’ve always been open to change but this update looks messy and cluttered. In order to see the weather you have to click a thin blue banner which is hard to press. The weather moves horizontally instead of vertically and I just find it not at all intuitive. The actual weather portion is accurate and I appreciate, which is why I use it, but it's not fun to use. ### 1/5 — Eeesh *2024-11-18, version 6.90.25* Use to use the app but I don’t like the new design. I liked the old interface. There are no guides to use. According to the article online it’s supposed to be easy. Is that why the Ask Support button in the App Store is useless? Obviously whoever approved the changes doesn’t use the app. How do you remove custom locations you no longer want? The future cast radar is worthless. It stops at whatever the current picture is, then moves those splashes of color in the same configuration across the screen. Weather doesn’t work that way! What you had before was a little better. If I want future cast radar, now I go to an unsupported Dallas weather app that’s much better than yours. Maybe I should just use that app instead rather than continuing to wait for you to fix yours. Shame really that I can’t use my local app for good information. ### 2/5 — Not user friendly *2024-11-13, version 6.90.25* The new version of the app is not user friendly. Scrolling panes aren’t correctly synchronized so it’s easily possible that the weather shown doesn’t match the location shown. The home page of the app is cluttered and mostly filled with ads. The weather radar pane is vastly inferior to KSATs web site and its future projections are a joke. KSAT used to have a good weather app but somehow acquired this hunk of junk. ### 1/5 — So used to be better *2025-05-27, version 6.90.30* Nobody wants to check the weather real quick only to have to wait for a 2 minutes ad EVERY SINGLE TIME. Just decided to delete it I’ll get my weather news elsewhere. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Best weather app yet *2025-05-14, version 6.90.30* I’ve tried a lot of different weather apps over time and found that this one is one of the best in design and information all around. Perhaps a little biased towards KSAT after living in San Antonio for a couple of years back in the mid 60’s but a resounding yes to this app. It not only provides me with the weather in and around San Antonio but I also added my current location in Michigan as well as that of family and friends. Every feature of the app is well thought out. It works great on my iPhone but also my iPad with only one exception, the inability to change to landscape mode which I am always in on my iPad. Having to turn it in portrait mode is somewhat annoying but I can live with it. Perhaps in the future that feature will be made available like many apps etc. do. Overall it still is the best I’ve used to date. All I can say is get it. ### 5/5 — New weather app *2024-06-23* I’ve used your weather app for several years and loved it. I’ve tried working with the new one and have changed settings but it won’t keep my changes. I just want the radar once it comes up. I’m not interested in all the links you have below featuring the actual broadcast and other stuff. Needless to say there’s another station that has one similar to your old one you had that I’ll be using instead. I really like having the daily notifications and the personalization from your staff and the funny/unique San Antonio commentary around the weather. I love getting the notifications to with what’s approaching weather wise and advisories. Tbh best weather app out there for my city. ### 5/5 — Love the KSAT Weather team *2023-01-31, version 6.14* The KSAT weather team does way more than report weather. They actually explain the “why” of weather. Weather reports are like mini meteorology lessons. Viewers are being educated about all aspects of weather and climate. The team is very knowledgeable and professional in their reporting with lots of personality as an added plus. Each weather cast member is equipped with excellent knowledge and skill sets. However, neither one ever contradicts the other, (trust me I look for that). All members are on the same page, which only proves Teamwork and consistency.
