## What is ksViolin?

ksViolin is a tuner and an intonation trainer for beginner violinists. Put your iPhone or iPad on the music stand and play: big colors and arrows, easy to read from where you stand, tell you note by note whether to go higher or lower.

TUNE YOUR FOUR STRINGS
• Automatic string detection, or tap a string to lock the tuner on it
• The string you play lights up on the violin, and turns green as soon as it is in tune, with a needle and the deviation in cents
• The right tool for each correction: the peg for a large one, the fine tuner for a small one, with the way to turn it
• Each string is checked once it is in tune, so you see at a glance what is left to do
• Hold a string button to hear its note
• Reference pitch from 430 to 450 Hz, in equal temperament or in pure fifths, the way violinists tune by ear

PRACTICE YOUR INTONATION
• Guided exercises in four steps: open strings, fingers 0 to 4 on each string, the low 2nd finger, then the G, D and A major scales
• For each note: the note to play, the string and the finger on a small fingerboard, and a big arrow until the note is in tune
• A trace of the last five seconds: how you reached the note, and how steady you held it
• A note counts once you hold it in tune: you choose the tolerance (±25, ±15 or ±10 cents) and the hold time
• A drone on the key note of the exercise, to train your ear as well as your fingers
• Single note: choose any note of first position and hold it in tune, again and again

PLAY FREELY
• Free play has a tab of its own: play any note, with no exercise and no target
• The nearest note with its octave and its frequency, and where it is played in first position
• The same gauge, arrow and trace as the exercises, with a drone if you want one

SEE YOUR PROGRESS
• After each sequence, a summary of every note: how far off it was on average, and how long it took to find
• What to work on, in plain words: "Your 3rd finger is often too low"
• The history of your sessions, with the trend of each note

MADE FOR THE MUSIC STAND
• Readable from 30 to 50 cm, even on the smallest iPhone
• Upright or on its side, on iPhone and iPad: turn it so the stand leaves the microphone free
• On iPad, everything grows with the screen
• A dark theme, easy on the eyes in the practice room and on stage
• The screen stays on while ksViolin listens
• Note names your way: C D E, German letters with H, Do Ré Mi or Do Re Mi
• A pitch detection built for the violin, which ignores silence and room noise
• On iPhone, a short vibration when a string is tuned or a note is validated

YOUR PRACTICE STAYS YOURS
ksViolin works offline. The sound is analyzed on your iPhone or iPad: nothing is recorded, nothing is sent. No account, no ads, no analytics.
