## What is KumiOu?

KumiOu is a Japanese learning companion built around the things you actually want to read. Import a manga page, tap a speech bubble, and see it recognized and translated on the spot — then turn any word you meet into something you'll remember.

Read real manga with on-device OCR
Open your own manga images and tap a speech bubble. KumiOu detects the bubble, reads the Japanese, and shows a translation with furigana and instant dictionary lookups — all processed privately on your device.

A dictionary that keeps up with you
Search vocabulary, kanji, and grammar with fast, forgiving lookup. Every entry comes with readings, furigana, meanings, JLPT level, and example sentences — tuned to your study level.

Notebooks that remember for you
Save words, kanji, and grammar into notebooks and let spaced repetition schedule your reviews. Flag the sets you care about and keep everything synced across your devices.

Practice that sticks
Reinforce your japanese mastery through unlimited jlpt-based quizzes, anki cards, and fun word games like Snake and Crossword.

Read beyond manga
Browse a curated library of Japanese news, novels, and blogs, save readings for later, and look up anything you don't know as you go.

Stay focused
Optional Focus tools use Screen Time to gently shield distracting apps while you study, so a short session stays a study session.

A place you'll want to return to
The whole app lives on a quiet seasonal pond that shifts with the time of year — an unhurried, beautiful backdrop for daily practice.

Free to use, with an optional subscription that unlocks premium features. Your learning data stays yours, and on-device recognition means your manga never leaves your phone.
