## What is Kwanzaa?

*** NEWS ***
Featured by Apple in the "Holiday Cheer" section for two years in a row! As others have discovered, you can use this app year-round, not just during Kwanzaa. Thanks for all the reviews! Every great review makes our day!

*** APP DESCRIPTION ***
Need some help with thinking positive? This is the iPhone app companion to Venus Jones's "Kwanzaa: 7 Days, 7 Principles" album.

Celebrate the principles of Kwanzaa poetically through daily affirmations. These affirmations can be recited year-round to improve your spirit, and align yourself with the seven daily principles of Kwanzaa:

* Umoja (Unity)
* Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
* Ujimaa (Collective Work and Responsibility)
* Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
* Nia (Purpose)
* Kuumba (Creativity)
* Imani (Faith)

No matter your cultural background, this app will prove to be a tool for self-improvement and the emotional stimulus we all need.

Note that this app doesn't include the audio clips from the CD (you have to buy the CD for that!), but it does include Venus's poetic affirmations for each day.

Try it today. It's free!

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 3.1 — 2017-12-17

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.

* Notifications! If you give the app permission, it will give you a short Kwanzaa message each day of Kwanzaa. As a bonus, the app icon will show a number so you'll know the day of Kwanzaa without even opening the app! I mean, for this reason alone, we shoulda called this version 3.5, people! (You can always turn off these notifications under Settings > Notifications > Kwanzaa.)

* Page Updates. Some minor changes to the "More Info" pages, including links to Venus's social media sites.

* Other behind-the-scenes improvements to support future improvement ideas.

### 3.0 — 2017-11-27

Okay... wow. After a too-long absence from the app store, we're back! Here's what's new...

* Universal App. So this app was always "universal", right? But now it's "iOS Universal," meaning it works on both iPhones and iPads. Have an iPad? Install it! (It's free, remember.) Know someone else who has an iPad? Share it!

* iOS 11 Rewrite. The entire app has been rewritten in Apple's Swift programmming language, with some enhanced design and a simplified app icon. I hope you find the new look easy on the eyes. If you don't, let me know.

* Social Sharing. Version 2.0 introduced the ability to share via email. With version 3.0, we've added the ability to Tweet, Post to Facebook, and even send some Kwanzaa wishes via text message! Look for the usual share button at the bottom right of each Day view. Sharing is caring, and we hope you'll find it easy to spread the love!

### 2.0 — 2010-10-13

v2.0
Lots of cool updates in this version, including:
* audio pronunciation of the Swahili names
* kinara (Kwanzaa candle) lighting guide
* ability to forward an affirmation via email
* calendar dates for each day (not just the day number)
* whole new color scheme

### 1.0 — 2009-12-18

No release notes.
