### 1/5 — App does not work

*2020-09-25, version 18.7.6*

The app doesn’t work. I entered my free pass code and followed up with the verification email but I can’t access any of the magazines. Sadly, a complete waste of my time, not to mention sharing my email address unnecessarily. I’m not very happy with Bon Appétit, either, as I signed up in response to their suggestion.

### 1/5 — Does NOT Work

*2020-07-30, version 18.7.6*

Useless. Free Pass doesn’t work. Apparently they just want your information.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2020-07-01, version 18.7.6*

I paid for the subscription, got confirmation that I have it for one year but can not access the app after multiple attempts. I’m trying to get a refund. Hugely disappointed.

### 1/5 — Scam or a bug?

*2020-05-30, version 18.7.6*

Did everything it said for my “Free Pass” activation. It still wants me to pay $15.99 a year to open an issue. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Free Pass form void of info

*2020-03-15, version 18.7.6*

Offered free pass, downloaded app, tried to fill out the free pass form, but it is void of info in the boxes - is not clear which kind to enter name, contact info, email or free pass code. No button to press enter. Severe glitches that need to be worked out.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-03-05, version 18.7.6*

I thought I had free access but it asks for payment.

### 1/5 — Free pass didn’t work

*2020-02-18, version 18.7.6*

Was offered a free pass via their newsletter. It didn’t work. Would have subscribed, but was concerned that wouldn’t work either. Had a similar experience with another Conde-Nast publication.

Mr. Hand is right.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2020-02-05, version 18.7.6*

I subscribed to the digital magazine in Oct, 2019. It was a yearly subscription for (4) quarterly editions. I was a subscriber years ago and really enjoyed it and was disappointed when they discontinued the printed magazine. When they offered the digital subscription, I was very excited and loved the Oct - DEC edition and the daily emails, etc.
Disappointed once again.....I can’t obtain the next edition! And I get no response after many attempts.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work. Phishing? ☹️

*2020-01-30, version 18.7.6*

App does not work. Now I’m worried it was a phishing scam.

### 1/5 — NO free trial

*2020-01-28, version 18.7.6*

Does not allow you the free trail. Says you have to commit to payment. Really diappointed

### 1/5 — No button

*2020-01-21, version 18.7.6*

Went through the entire process but was unable to find “the button” to open the free pass and enjoy the magazine. I used to subscribe to this magazine but it went out of print several years ago, never to be published again, was this just some sort of computer glitch?

### 1/5 — No button

*2020-01-01, version 18.7.6*

I also tried to open the app and there is no button.

### 1/5 — No button

*2019-12-29, version 18.7.6*

I tried to complete the activation process, but there was no button to press to do so.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2024-04-23*

I deleted and redownloaded but it still crashes.

### 1/5 — App crashes upon launch.

*2023-12-10*

The app crashes on multiple devices when launching.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-01-29, version 20.4.6*

App won’t let me load any current issues. Most recent issue is from 2019..
The Italian language version seems to work.
Fix your crap!!

### 1/5 — Free Pass

*2021-02-08, version 18.7.6*

I can’t even get past this screen.
I’ll stick to the website.
According to other reviews and my personal experience, this app needs a lot of work

### 1/5 — Free pass rip off

*2021-01-28, version 18.7.6*

Got a free pass but it only provides you one issue. Not a subscription. Don’t bother

### 1/5 — Crap. Don’t download. Free pass doesn’t work

*2021-01-24, version 18.7.6*

Not worth the time. No free pass. Nothing.

### 1/5 — Access prob

*2020-11-04, version 18.7.6*

I managed to “succeed” in my free trial but cannot actually “open” each article for recipes/stories. It is just flip through the contents w/out content. What gives?

### 1/5 — DO NOT SUBSCRIBE

*2020-11-01, version 18.7.6*

Do not subscribe; they don’t deliver the digital subscriptions - I bought the one year subscription back in March, which includes 4 quarterly issues. I got the 1st quarterly issue upon signing up, but it’s now November and I still haven’t gotten the 2nd issue. I contacted support through the app twice, and no one has responded to me. I contacted the developer directly and they haven’t responded. I contacted the App Store and they refuse to give me a refund because they said I have to take it up with the developer. I’m extremely disappointed. This was my favorite food magazine when they used to offer it in print.

### 1/5 — Agree with the low ratings

*2020-10-22, version 18.7.6*

This is either a scam or the app and code is being written by a bunch of 12 year old idiots. Downloaded the app, entered the promo code, received the confirmation email, got sent back to the app and... nothing. Click on either of the 2 magazines shown and it says I still have to purchase them to read. Run from this app because they need to see that crappy promo come-ons do not endear them with their audience. Apple needs to start policing mis-leading apps like this. A useless wish but maybe somebody will get this done.

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing recipes and great articles

*2020-05-21, version 18.7.6*

My wife and I subscribed to this magazine in print years ago, and we still have our old copies on our bookshelf very well used. So far, the digital edition looks every bit as good.

It’s a shame that the free promotion was a bit confusing in that the promo code was below the fold and many people obviously missed it. The poor App Store rating most definitely does not reflect the quality of the app. As another reviewer said, this magazine is worth every penny of its subscription price.

### 5/5 — Free Pass Not Accessible

*2020-04-21, version 18.7.6*

In order to activate the free pass the code LCIPROMO2020 is required. I did that and it worked. Thank you! The magazine is full of recipes I cannot wait to try, and places I dream to visit. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Love this Magazine!

*2020-03-29, version 18.7.6*

Not sure what problem everyone is having getting the app to work. I had no problem. I’m sure I will be asked to pay at some point and I will. Absolutely worth every penny. Amazing recipes, wonderful stories about families and chefs. Beautiful pictures. I was a subscriber for years before it went out of print in the US and am ecstatic that it is back. All the one star reviews are based on the app evidently not working but don’t let that sway you regarding the material. Amazing.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2020-10-20, version 18.7.6*

I’m giving this app two stars because of the content, even though much of the magazine’s really good stuff is available on the web site. But the app is very frustrating to use. The “Free Pass” offered appears to be nothing more than access to a single issue — and apparently only two issues are available at all (this probably links up with other reviewers’ complaints about their subscriptions. It’s surprising that a company with the history and resources of Condé Nast would put out such a half-arsed product. In any case, I’ll be deleting the app forthwith.
