Always shows me a fake sample scan and doesn’t give me any options to do my own scan! **Developer response:** Hello, this claim is factually incorrect and technically impossible within our app. When you scan a barcode, the app searches a live database of over 2.5 million real products. If your product is found, you see that exact product. If your product is NOT found, the app does not show a 'fake' or 'sample' item. Instead, it automatically opens our Manual Scan feature, allowing you to use the camera to read and analyze the actual ingredient text in 9 different languages. This means that every product that doesn’t scan successfully is sent to our servers and added within the next 24 hours. Our current success rate is already very high — and it continues to improve constantly. When you scan the ingredients it gives you mixed ratings. Sometimes it will give you an “A” rating and then it will go back to “C” and viceversa for the same product. **Developer response:** Hello, Regarding the Barcode Scanning feature: Our goal is to fully support all U.S. food product barcodes, and while we already cover a large portion of the market, we’re still actively expanding and improving our database every day. Regarding the Label Scanning feature (where you scan the ingredient list): This tool uses a live camera feed, so the rating may fluctuate for 2–3 seconds while the system stabilizes, as explained in the app. During this brief moment, you may see the rating shift—for example, from an A to a C—before it settles on the final result. This is normal, and once the scan stabilizes, the rating will remain consistent. You can tap on any ingredient to see exactly why a product receives an A, B, or C. This includes explanations, potential side effects, U.S. regulations, and references from global health authorities. There should be no inconsistencies when analyzing the same product as long as the full ingredient list is captured correctly (you can verify this on-screen). However, occasional issues may occur if the text isn’t fully recognized, such as: • Text wrapping around curved or folded packaging • Using the wrong language setting for text detection Please check the language setting in the bottom-right corner. Since we support multiple languages, the Reader will only recognize the selected language. For example, if it’s set to French, it may not detect English ingredients correctly. Every time I scan something I get a black screen and a little white thing that spins around and around and around. And unfortunately, although I tried to cancel my subscription. We provide a completely separate Ingredient Score (graded A, B, C) for additives. You can tap the 'i' button to see how they are calculated independently. ( numeric score is for nutrient profile, letter score for ingredient profile.) Regarding the tortilla you scanned: We kindly ask you to go back to that specific product in the app and tap directly on the ingredient you consider 'questionable.' When you do, the app will instantly display the summaries of our research gathered from global health organizations with references (like FDA, WHO, EFSA, NIH, OEHHA and more) for that exact ingredient. You will see its safety profile, side effects, and current US regulations right there. If you find that we missed specific information important for safety, please contact us so we can review it.
