Well, the luck of the Irish is upon ye! Journey to Ireland, a country rich in folklore and mythology, where you are bewitched by leprechauns, wizards, fairies, castles, spells, lush green landscapes, and a dragon, as you try to save your friend who vanished through a magical pot of gold. This is an outstanding game, with the exception that I felt the storyline digressed from the magical Irish/leprechaun theme, and that there was a lack of compelling Irish accents. Nonetheless, I still immensely enjoyed it. Furthermore, I wish that the Celtic music was more prevalent to enhance the ambiance. The well-detailed settings are fantastical, with mythological embellishments saturating the distinct worlds. The omnipresent background animations never fail to amuse me, as I poke around the scenes and see banners fall from their posts. Fortunately, the gameplay doesn't disappoint and is mesmerizing in every respect. The creative manipulations of inventory usage elevate the adventure portion of gameplay. Domini is at its best in conceiving some of the most inventive HOSs I've come across in a while. Most HOSs incorporate smartly executed interactions. I like the one in which you choose answers to Merlin's riddles, and then find some items relative to the answer, such as symbols of fire. The entertaining puzzles are clever in arrangement and idea, and they offer players varying ranges of challenge. They are stylized as a pleasant variety, including labyrinths and mazes. I love the one in which you place ladybug-like dominos around the board by matching the number of dots on the adjacent sides. The sets of collectibles are thematic and interactive. I encountered slight touch sensitivities at times, especially during the ladybug domino game; however, they were minor and did not impede my progression. This is a well-rounded game, comprising all of the components I desire. But I do find that touch sensitivity is poor. Also, in some of the mini games such as the domino themed one, the items wouldn’t stay where they were positioned. I love the series, so I decided to give it another chance and start over. It still has touch issues, but this time, it didn’t freeze or stop working. Graphics are great, and the story is good. I also admired the nod to Harry Potter - it was easily worked into the plot. Interesting puzzles, as well. I had to start over because I couldn’t get the third candle. I kept touching it but it wouldn’t move. It was the only move I had. I couldn’t progress without that candle. It was the bird cage lock that required a file to open it. I tried to use the hint for it, but it led me to the lock and the file over and over, and I could not make it work. Didn’t find it too short, but then I don’t sit at a game to play it through in one go. I play for a short while then go back to it. My only gripe is the last game at the end of the bonus chapter. On linking the yellows they were all linked and showed as such, did check it in the guide. But it didn’t continue as showing that I had completed it, in the end I had to use the skip button. Update: Haunted Hotel 18 will be released on Friday.
