## What is Ladoo?

You understand Punjabi but freeze when it is your turn to speak. You follow every word at the dinner table but cannot read a single line of Gurmukhi. Or you are starting from zero, and every app you have tried barely supports Punjabi at all.

Ladoo is built to close that gap.

Ladoo teaches you to speak Punjabi and read Gurmukhi script through two separate learning tracks, so you spend your time on exactly what you need. Already understand the language and want to read and write? Jump into the script track. Brand new to Punjabi? Build from the ground up.

Honestly this app is great. I started learning Punjabi and mainly used this app to guide me. It’s great, it teaches you the letters, the pronunciations, and words. I genuinely recommend this app if you want to learn/improve your Punjabi.

as a child, i always refused to go to punjabi school. everyone already spoke it, and i didn’t want to embarrass myself. but as i got older, and i couldnt talk to my elder relatives, i realised the importance in learning our mother tongue. this app teaches that in the best way. interactive lessons, script teachings, the works. today, i held a full conversation in punjabi. and this app helped me do that!

I downloaded the app two days ago, and I’m enjoying it a ton. I know some Punjabi through my family, but have struggled up until this point with forming sentences and pronunciation. I haven’t encountered any issues so far, and the free tier is amazing- I haven’t felt like it’s limited at all. I’m excited to continue my lessons on here. It’s definitely an app worth trying :-)

I think this app is great for learning Punjabi so far. But a note to the developers: please show the corrections when a sentence is incorrect. As a native english speaker I am trying to understand the sentence structure without using google translate, but because this app doesn’t actually show me what I did wrong I have been leaving some lessons very confused.

**Developer response:** Thank you for feedback. For the next update, we'll work on incorporating a feature that shows users the correct answers if they get a question wrong. What's new in this version:

2. Adaptive placement test. If you already speak or read some Punjabi, you can test into the right level instead of starting from lesson one. Take the Punjabi placement test during onboarding, or find it later on your profile page.

3. Bhaji, the AI tutor, is a lot better at understanding spoken Punjabi than before. You also get more control over how Bhaji works, including the option to have him teach Punjabi in English. Pro users get more speaking scenarios to practice with as well.

4. Gems. You now earn them for finishing lessons, hitting streak goals, and passing Punjabi learning checks. There's more to spend them on too, like streak freezes and Double or Nothing.

5. Short stories rebuilt. They're now longer and a lot more descriptive now, and each story ends with a longer quiz on what you just read. Toggle on/off romanization and English translations to the Punjabi script.

6. Revamped UI. Moving between modules and lessons is easier to follow, and the home page has been redesigned. Ladoo automatically starts you at the lesson you're working on.

7. Bug fixes. Your progress saves mid-lesson now, and everywhere else in the app. If you can't do a speaking or tracing question at the moment, you can skip it and keep going. We fixed some other bugs within the app as well.
