Anyone asking to chat on Whatsapp is a big red flag. Reverse image search the people you match with. You’ll figure out quickly who is fake. The intros need to be limited to the location. It is a waste of time otherwise. ### 2/5 — Was decent until it started crashing *2025-04-03, version 1.13* Was fairly decent. Whatever AI / matchmaking tool is being used does show profiles that meet my preferences and likely would be compatible. Generally I like the layout and all that. However for the last week or so, every time I try to move past a specific profile, the app crashes. I’ve tried both liking and disliking both responses cause the app to just crash. The prompts ask insightful questions for starting relationships, then carefully curated a small number of matches for you to choose from. This care seems to be a huge shift from other popular dating apps that seem superficial and based on accumulating a large pool of matches, making it easier for people who just want to hook up to connect based on numbers rather than thoughtful consideration. ### 5/5 — Laguna for the Win because a Search Engine is crazy! *2024-10-25* This is completely different! So yes! It’s another dating app. But it’s completely game changing because you have the ability to search for what you’re looking for. In addition, the matchmaking portion and emotional intelligence rating the compatibility & similarities is mind blowing. It makes me feel a bit more in control simply because I’m letting AEI know specifically and confidentially what is my story, what I’m seeking and my interests. After that, it does its thing and you’re shown matches based on who you are. It’s great. Creating the profile was super simple. It can take about 10min to create. And my opinion is to be as detailed as possible to get the best results. If I can add one thing, it would be to have the ability to filter your search because it does show up with all random ages and locations. It may already do this and I just haven’t seen the function. Overall. The app is pretty cool and I love it here. ### 5/5 — Liking the app so far *2024-10-25, version 1.3* I honestly really like the app so far! It’s nice because the app really takes the time to cater your matches TO YOU utilizing AI so you know if this is really the right match for you. It’s also cool because it’s personalized and also very inclusive. Sometimes dating apps don’t keep in mind LGBTQ+ folks and the app makes sure to do that which I think is really nice. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Might be the worst algorithm yet *2025-12-26, version 1.17* This app is terrible. I don’t think I was shown one profile within my stated search radius. Giant waste of time. Tried to reach out to support and the send button didn’t work. Complete trash. The AI matchmaking is very generic and doesn’t account for taste. ### 1/5 — Bad *2025-11-09, version 1.17* No filter for location. How do you delete your account? ### 1/5 — Horrible Natches *2025-06-20, version 1.14* Says it uses AI to find the best matches. None of the matches have fit any criteria, are too far away, and have been low compatibility. Update: Developer will try to say they did match me based on criteria. I’ve been specific, and I strongly disagree. The app claims it’s trying to match based on what we say we like. It simply has not. Just because the app thinks it’s a good option, does not mean I have to agree. Most suggestions are either too far or not compatible. It asks why when we decline an option, and I have repeatedly said why: not my type, distance, nothing in common. App does not readjust. It is trash. ### 1/5 — Literally all catfish *2025-04-20, version 1.13* The first four people I talked with were catfish chatbots. I deleted the app after that. ### 1/5 — A real shame *2025-04-17, version 1.13* Unfortunately, despite the ads you may have seen this dating app is no better than any other. Lots of fake accounts, scammers, and all the other baggage that comes with dating apps. Ghosting is particularly bad and the AI responses it occasionally gives make me wonder if any of the conversations I’ve had are actually real. ### 1/5 — Not great. *2025-02-15, version 1.11* Most of the people are in New York while I’m in Georgia. I don’t think people would want to drop a major amount of money to meet someone from so far away. ### 1/5 — Not a lot of options to see *2025-02-11, version 1.10* First, you have to submit 10 answers, then you have to wait 24 hours for suggestions, then when you search, there is no age limit. Then if you wanted to like during your search, it charges you $1. I seriously don’t recommend this app, unless you wanna wait for one user at a time. ### 1/5 — You have to answer everything 10 times *2025-01-26* Not sure what’s the point of this app had to answer 10 times can’t even make a profile and then you have to do another set of 10 questions ### 1/5 — Can’t Verify Phone Number *2024-10-18, version 1.2* Keeps indicating the I’ve entered an invalid number, so I can’t even sign up. ### 2/5 — Poor Location Specificity of Matches *2025-08-14, version 1.16* While the app has great features for potential emotional chemistry and compatibility for activities, these facts are SELF REPORTED which is something to keep in mind. Most potential matches I have been fed live in another state so have little to no viability. At this juncture I am basically a beta tester... so I'll keep trying to train the algorithm for what I want with respect to location and compatibility features. With respect to the message window, only 2 lines of text are visible making. This make proofing and correct a message frustrating and time consuming. I suggest drafting your message in notes or email and pasting into the app to lessen proofing frustrations. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Has potential *2025-08-19, version 1.16* Hoping more people join. I haven’t really had any conversation a yet, but I like the concept and the pacing of it. I think people should be more strongly encouraged to write their own bios though. ### 5/5 — Interesting idea for a dating app *2025-04-27, version 1.13* This is an AI-powered matchmaking app that is definitely worth trying out. The profiles are more interesting to read than the typical user-generated content that you see on other dating apps. Laguna attempts to really zone in on what makes a compatible match beyond just the superficial. I like how it iteratively tries to learn what type of person you’re looking for so you can find the perfect match. It’s a slower burn as others have said but it’s worth it for those looking for deeper connections. ### 5/5 — Fun anticipation and Depth *2025-02-21, version 1.12* I really enjoy the anticipation of waiting for a new match each day, and taking the time to explore each profile. The AI approach is unique and engaging, and it compels me to be more mindful about potential matches. Definitely a slower burn, not the mad swipe-fest of most dating apps, which I actually appreciate. It’s more about making a wonderful connection vs. sorting through tons of profiles.
