There are too many teachers and not enough active students taking lessons despite there being a lot student accounts on it. The platform is nice but it isn’t reliable. There really isn’t a lot of support for teachers new to the platform, I recommend preply as an alternative if your looking to start teaching ### 5/5 — Great app *2025-06-16, version 8.1.0* As a teacher using the Lan Master app has been seamless. It is quick to set up and find students looking for support across different types of English teaching (IELTS, General English and Business English). You just set your schedule in the app and students can book lessons easily. Students can also contact you for free talk lessons, adding to your booked lessons. Teacher assistant Jessie is incredibly helpful and always quick to respond to me. Overall, it’s an excellent app that makes teaching and learning enjoyable. It’s such a natural, stress-free way to learn English whether you’re at home or even when you’re on the go. As the interaction takes place on the phone, students aren’t limited in the sense that they don’t have to be in front of a computer/laptop. The same goes for teachers. There is an option for either video or voice calls, depending on the students’ preferences. The app is simple and straightforward to use and students can work on improving all areas of spoken English including grammar, pronunciation, correct sentence structure and vocabulary. It logs all of your hours, provides topics and lesson plans, and the interface between student and teacher is seamless and multifunctional. I have been using the LM App with students for about a month and I have had no issues. This App is a great tool, highly intuitive with great features. It is a joy to use with students. I highly recommend it. ### 5/5 — Teaching on Lan-master *2024-10-29, version 7.6.1* I’ve been teaching on Lanmaster for a few months now and honestly I’m loving it. I have met a lot of nice and friendly students. I help with IELTS preparation and also just free conversation. So far, every student that I’ve met has been focused, respectful and willing to listen. It’s quite rewarding to see them implement the advice and tips that you give them and to watch their English improve day by day. The support staff has been fantastic and the students are great. Also, I ended up getting a salary increase within the first week of teaching. So, it seems to me that their is a lot of potential for growth on this platform. The app is easy to use and the process to register as a teacher is simple and straightforward. I’ve had zero problems with HR, they’ve only been incredibly nice and helpful in answering any questions I have. The students are also very enthusiastic to practice speaking English with native speakers. They have ‘promotions’ to higher pay, but they will try their best not to give you them. Overall it is a predatory system. I worked as a manager for them for several months and can say Lucy (the S. African interviewing teachers, who is referenced as “black” in other reviews) is delaying or blocking your success, as she views qualified teachers as competition (teachers are competing for students on the app). She even delayed verifying my master’s degree for months—with continued excuses—and I was on the management team! Worse, I caught her throttling other teachers’ acceptance—even though they were more qualified to teach than she is (she has a thick, non-native accent). When I continually tried to being up the fact there were non-native speakers in my department pretending to be native, no action was ever taken. The owner needs to wake up and realize she is ruining his reputation and business, as he is blindly allowing her to make company decisions based on her self-interests (she once emotionally argued with me that non-native speakers could teach pronunciation better than native speakers—then proceeded to send me an anonymous, but profane message). There are more issues, but time does not allow me to elaborate. This app is a hard pass. ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time *2021-10-25, version 5.8.0* I’d give less than one star if I could. The “commission” this app keeps off of teachers is INSANE. Teachers get roughly 30% of what students pay for lessons. AND THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE LONGER YOU WORK THERE! the system is arranged so that the harder YOU work the more money THEY make. Unless you love running on Chinese hamster wheels, RUN AWAY. ### 1/5 — Waste of time! *2021-05-13* I tried applying to teach here to fill up my free time, which I am not teaching at, because it isn’t overcrowded with teachers like Palfish but the whole thing was a joke. Firstly, your profile automatically gets set as a “student” so as soon as you register, teachers start attacking you with messages for you to learn English with them. Secondly, they use different rates and pay non-natives ridiculously lower. Thirdly, it takes them forever to get back to you to apply. I was bounced to somewhere in S. Africa to a lady who had an ‘audio’ interview with me. She kept going on about how they don’t have a racist hiring system and that she is black, blah blah, then she comes up with the results for me saying there is a “slight accent issue” with my application and that they can’t sell me as a British teacher because they charge more for those! I have over 14 years of experience, a Master’s degree in Education, a Cambridge CELTA but speak with a neutral accent as I am bi-racial. I had to tell them my whole life story from A to Z but apparently that wasn’t enough! On the other hand, if you don’t know anything about teaching and want to make some extra money on the side (getting paid peanuts) and practise your teaching, it could be a good start as there are even kids teaching there with no experience whatsoever. Cool. ### 1/5 — Bad app from the teachers point of view *2018-05-21* I’ve been trying to use this app as a teacher , first of all it was super hard to get my profile approved ( the app assistant just constantly rejected my profile without giving any reason ((((((( then I’ve finally after long time got my profile approved . So I’ve found out that the payment is lower than it was promised . The app developers deduct a big amount of money from teachers. Secondly there are few students who will real make calls.
