Sad paying that much for a car and I can use a decent GUI for navigation, music or calls/messages. The basics what I am asking for... why not provide customers who pays $xxx simple Apple CarPlay connectivity which is proven, tested and easy to use. UAE Land Rover need to stop selling cars with nice large screens with no feature that we can use. Shame! ### 1/5 — Terrible system in my beautiful car *2019-05-17, version 2.10.0* I love love love the drive of my RR Sport, but I absolutely loathe the entertainment system!!! All I really want is Apple Car Play to work. Please just out source your entertainment system and stick to what you do best. Or at least add Apple/Samsung/Android Plug in’s so your drivers can bypass the crappy system. ### 1/5 — Lame / worthless *2019-03-20, version 2.10.0* Echoing the sentiments of others here, I love my RR, but the infotainment center is weak. The only thing weaker, is the app. Pretty much worthless and I never use it. I rent Ford, Honda, Toyota, and Kia’s while traveling for business monthly that blow the doors off of Land Rover’s app and system. Not even worth the time to download. Wasn’t even really worth my time to write this review. ### 1/5 — Trash this system. Bring Apple Play / Google Systems, or we’ll move to BMW/Mercedes/Volvo *2019-02-04, version 2.8.3* Similar problems to 99.9% of people here. Instead of doing what most car brands are doing - going with the two standards of companies that know how to develop software, LR has the brilliant idea of developing their own system. It’s functionality is light years behind Apple and Google, whenever it works. But it never works! It plays for 5-20 seconds until it is disconnected. I took my car twice to the dealer, but the answer was that the system doesn’t work with IPhone X, 18 months after the X was launched! So basically there is no way to charge your phone with the car’s USB because it will disconnect the music every few seconds. I had to buy a power pack to charge my IPhone! So I can listen to plain radio. All this in 2019! The other day I rode on a friend’s $20k volkswagen and his infotainment system was FAR superior than my $67k Discovery. Planning to change my car next year. I am dreaming with a Range Rover full version, but if LT has not come out finally with Apple Play; I’ll go for a BMW, Mercedes or Volvo. Bye bye Land Rover, after being a loyal customer since 2008 LR2 : ( ### 1/5 — Stopped working 2 days ago *2018-12-12, version 2.8.3* While never quick, the app did work with our 2018 Range Rover Sport. Hasn’t worked since Monday. Shows climate running and in the wrong location. Gives me either a Network Error or just times out. (It is not a network issue with WiFi or cell networks for either the iPhone or Range Rover.) The Route Planner apps stills works, though. ### 1/5 — I’m over it... *2018-11-20, version 2.8.3* I’ve had my velar since September and it has spent more time at the service department that my prior three cars combined. Each time I bring the cat in I’m told there is an update, they spend a couple of days updating the computer to resolve all these problems and not one thing has changed. I travel for work and interestingly I’m able to get into rental cars and plug my phone in with no issues at all. If you are interested in a LR and you enjoy technology, don’t do it! I have thirty-two months left and am counting down. ### 1/5 — Why can’t you do anything right *2018-11-02, version 2.8.3* Every app offered by Range Rover is clunky at best and hard to manage. They are not intuitive or friendly to use at all nor are very helpful. Even my console in the dashboard is laggy on a 2018 velar, with many kinks to be worked out. Outsource this to a tech company, cars way below your price range are sweeping the floor with technology integration over you. Your cars are so close to being perfect but this holds back your so called luxury cars. ### 1/5 — Terrible Connectivity *2018-10-17, version 2.8.3* This is a terribly conceived interface between the vehicle and phone. 1. The actually connectivity between the two are poor. The application and vehicle barely if at all successfully connect for more than a few seconds. I have completely abandoned trying to connect my phone to my vehicle via USB. This leads to me simply not being able to both charge my phone and listen to music at the same time. If I want to listen to my music, I have to use bluetooth- draining my battery without charging it. 2. You can’t connect your phone and the application NOT start. Which means if you want to use a GPS or other service on your phone you’re out of luck. I will be getting rid of my RR only because of this extremely aggravating system. ### 1/5 — Keeps disconnecting and Apps are terrible *2018-08-30, version 2.8.3* New version still doesn’t work. iPhone won’t stay connected for more than 20 seconds. Who’s in charge of quality control over there? Thanks for the Turkish version. Why don’t you fix the connectivity issue before rolling it out to more people. Available apps are terrible and not useful. Give up and give us CarPlay! Update! Works with all iPhones but iPhone X. Took it to the dealer and it worked fine with his phone. I plugged my x in and it won’t stay connected. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Land Rover even know how bad their music integration is?? *2018-08-21, version 2.8.3* Hoping Land Rover catches some of these reviews. After buying an 80k RRS, you would figure that they would have one of the best audio integrations in their cars..... NOT!!!! Simply the worst!!! I keep getting dropped music cause In Control Apps keeps saying it’s not available!!! This is a real deal buster for me for my next purchase. Great car!!!! Rides awesome in the elements but the app that allows you to play music as well as the non existent voice activated navigation really puts a damper on this car!!!! ### 1/5 — Disappointing & not reflective of a high end brand *2018-08-14, version 2.8.3* It’s amazing that Land Rover considers themselves a high end brand but they put out this kind of crap app. Step up your game, it’s 2018 you can’t rely on the car alone - the tech has to be top of the line. Hire real quality app developers and a true partnership team ASAP and turn this thing around before it becomes the reason you lose all your customers to Mercedes, BMW, etc. ### 1/5 — Still trying to get this app to work... *2018-07-28, version 2.8.3* Goes without saying that the LR/Jaguar systems are behind other systems offered. Regardless, I am still trying to get my iPhone 7+ running the most current iOS to work with InControl Apps after setting up my new 2018 RR three months ago. The most recent frustration is that since an iOS update was rolled out two weeks ago, the InControl App cycles repeatedly and never is stabilized on my RR. Currently I have abandoned the USB connection and am using the phones bluetooth connection for all functions. Please look and make another attempt to update the InControl App so that it works again with my iPhone. While always klugey, the connectivity broke when Apple released its iOS update in mid-July 2018. Thank you in advance for getting this right. ### 1/5 — Completely useless *2018-07-24, version 2.7.6* Owner of 2018 Range Rover. Tried to use couple times without any positive emotions. Slow working with many glitches. You can, and must do better, you are Range Rover. The best car design must have the best connectivity experience. ### 1/5 — A waste of my time *2018-06-24, version 2.7.6* I was pretty excited to see some app integration for my new RRS. Being a little bit of a nerd, I jumped on this as soon as I bought it. Having been in a friends Tesla a few months ago, I was excited thinking I would have something close to his experience. Not even close. What a waste this app is. Doesn’t come close to car play and it doesn’t let me use google maps which is required because the traffic monitoring built in to the nag system is horrid. So disappointed in my new RRS and this app.... ### 1/5 — Terrible integration *2018-06-18, version 2.7.6* My iphone functions and music have always worked fantastic in my other cars. I spend $100k plus on 2018 Range Rover and it wont let me control the music and constantly drops the connection. The incontrol apps beep on/off every few seconds. Cant even figure out how to atop without selecting it all together. Very unhappy Land Rover! Pls fix this! I LOVE my Rangie! Bit these tech glitches are not representing your brand good at all. :( ### 1/5 — Improvement needed *2018-05-12, version 2.7.6* The Land Rover app has a non-user friendly interface with a lot to be desired with its app selection. If your going to spend 80k on a Land Rover sport. You at least need a interface with decent technology. The car is great but the technology can use later improvements in the future. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Absolutely terrible app that never works *2022-12-24, version 2.11.2.7* The older version of this app worked well but since they updated the app, none of the remote options work. When the wind chill is -11 degrees out, it would be helpful to have the remote starter. We’re a loyal Range Rover owner but the developers need to spend time updating the app to be on par with their beautiful cars. ### 1/5 — WORST APP EVER *2022-10-21, version 2.11.2.7* This is the absolute worst app ever! It barely works half the time. It says that the car is currently in use when it’s really parked so now the app is unable to turn the car on. This happens 4 times out the week. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THE LOUSY APP! I’m forced to get an automatic starter installed in my Range Rover from. 3rd party company since Landrover cannot get this right! ### 1/5 — Not worth it *2021-04-02, version 2.11.2.7* Most of the apps you could download have stopped supporting or ended this agreements with Land Rovers InControl App. Very disappointing and short sighted by Land Rover that hasn’t offered any alternatives either. I tend to drive my wife’s Honda more now due to lack of features offer by JLR. ### 1/5 — Waste of Time *2021-03-24, version 2.11.2.7* Can’t even register because the website won’t recognize that I clicked on the terms and conditions and privacy statements (both frighteningly voluminous). Wasted time just trying to get it to work. ### 1/5 — Great car, dumb app *2021-02-16, version 2.11.2.7* To be honest, this is by far the dumbest app I’ve ever seen in my life. The concept is behind it isn’t bad, but they executed it very poorly. It doesn’t allow you to add apps to the inControl app, and the few they do provide, is a waste of time. Please please do not waste your time with this app. ### 1/5 — Definitely Nothing like Apple carPlay *2020-06-14, version 2.11.2.7* I went from a Cadillac to a BMW to a 2019 Discovery. I contemplated between this discovery and a Cadillac XT5. Now that I’ve bought the discovery I can honestly say, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! What a complete disappointment! The APPs LR has allotted for car play are about 7-10 years outdated. SO WISH I would of gone with Cadillac. Comfort in a vehicle is huge...MUSIC is one of those comforts! Just not happening in this vehicle. I will not be recommending a LR to future people (and believe me, the connections are endless) until something like Apple CarPlay is available for LR. ### 1/5 — Terrible App for my wonderful Car *2020-03-23, version 2.11.2.7* I recently purchased a pre-owned $40K Range Rover Evoque and guess what, this is the only app I can use with the OEM radio and navigation system fitted on this vehicle. I moved from having a car with Apple CarPlay which most cars have now, even cheaper cars, to a very outdated entertainment system with extremely limited and basic Apps to use. Also, this App has to remain open and running while connected so basically, you can’t touch your iPhone while using this App. You can’t text, use basic stuff these days such as Waze, WhatsApp, text messages, Zoom, emails, nothing! This app is totally worthless. The only associated app I saw that I liked required a $100 download and a monthly subscription and I wasn’t even sure if it works. Very limited App to the current day technology. I think LR is very behind in this matter. I know I don’t have a $100K car but still, I decided to move to a Range Rover because of the always high end features and this was a HUGE disappointment. ### 1/5 — I Don’t Get It?! *2019-12-11, version 2.11.2.7* I don’t get it? Am I missing something? This is compatible with the least used apps on the planet. Why no iTunes? No Pandora! My 2002 Onkyo Receiver has Pandora. Why no Alexa integration? If you search for vehicles compatible with Alexa, Land Rover is the only high-end model not listed. Kia has Alexa integration... Kia! I don’t know what you spent on development for this app, but it was a total waste of time, resources and funds. ### 1/5 — Seriously??? *2019-11-15, version 2.11.2.7* What a P.OS! I paid 145k for a LWB fully loaded RR and this is the kind of technology we get. How hard is it to develop an app that wirelessly connects and utilize useful apps! My f-$&ing 8 year old daughter can build an app better than this. Waste if time and space and obviously you don’t care because after reading all these other reviews dating back 2 years nothing has been done. Build a beautiful car and have sh&tty technology doesn’t cut it. ### 1/5 — This app is TERRIBLE *2019-09-26, version 2.10.1.50* It’s 2019 and I have to download an application to sync my phone with my $90G car?! This is worsened by the fact that it rarely if ever syncs within a timely fashion. I have to plug and unplug my phone multiple times with the hopes that it will sync. This adds additional apps to your car. All that stuff is available simply through USB connection. Don’t listen to the 1 star reviews. ### 4/5 — IOS 13.1 Update *2019-09-26, version 2.10.1.50* When will be the update for IOS 13.1 be release? InComtrol Apps does not run after I upgraded to IOS 13.1 last week. ### 4/5 — Not so bad *2017-11-28, version 2.7.0* Comparing to other car connect apps this one is not bad. Really lacks the number of available apps to download but what’s available works good ### 2/5 — Disappointing app support and variety *2019-04-06, version 2.10.0* This app was a good idea. The effort to give some utility and functionality to the infotainment center falls short. The app has potential, but the list of participating app vendors is very short and the functionality is pitiful. I use this app plenty but mainly for the Accuweather and the Audials apps. The other apps are so poor or redundant it makes this application almost useless. If participants made some strong apps for this (weather radar, inclinometer, odb2 car interface) it would make it appealing. But as it is, you have to go out of your way to use this app, and stretch even farther to enjoy it.
