## What is Language Tutor · Baro?

REQUIRES APPLE INTELLIGENCE. The tutor runs on Apple's own on-device model, so it needs an Apple Intelligence device (iPhone 15 Pro or newer) with iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence switched on. On any other iPhone the conversation tutor will not run — the written exercises, phrasebook and guides still do. Please check this before you install.

Practice a new language by talking — privately, on your own phone.

Language Tutor is a language-learning tool you practice by chatting. A patient tutor role-plays a conversation partner in the language you're learning, replies at your level, and gently corrects your mistakes so each exchange becomes a small lesson. No teacher to book, no class to attend, no judgment.

ON-DEVICE FIRST, PRIVATE BY DESIGN
The tutor is Apple's own on-device model, already part of iOS — there is nothing to download and no account to create. No cloud, no server: turn on airplane mode and keep practicing to see for yourself. Saved phrases and settings always stay on your phone.

LEARN BY DOING, NOT MEMORIZING
• Conversation practice — chat through real scenarios: ordering food, the airport, small talk, directions, and more.
• Gentle corrections — mistakes are corrected kindly, with a hint when you get stuck, so you actually improve.
• Suggestions when words fail you — tap one of three opening lines to begin, or ask “What should I say?” mid-chat for a few short replies you can send as they are.
• Instant meaning — tap a tutor message and what it means appears in your own language, right under the bubble.
• Choose your level — beginner to advanced; the tutor adjusts how it speaks to you.
• Pick your target language — separate from the app's menu language.
• One tap to start — your language, level and scenario carry over from last time, so practice begins the moment you open the app.

A REAL STUDY TOOLKIT
• Phrasebook — save useful lines from any chat into a local phrasebook, grouped by scenario.
• Scenario guides — offline guides for common situations, plus grammar and usage tips.
• Review — come back to your saved phrases and practice them again.
• Practice record — days practiced, conversations and saved phrases at a glance, with a shortcut to whatever is due for review. This record lives only on this phone.

BUILT THE BARO WAY
• Works offline — the on-device tutor practices anywhere, even with no signal.
• No ads, no tracking, no analytics, ever.
• Big text, high-contrast design, single-tap controls — easy at any age.
• English, Korean, Japanese, German, and French interface.

NO SUBSCRIPTIONS, NO ADS
No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads. A private tutor that runs on your own device — your practice stays yours.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
Language Tutor is a practice and study tool for everyday conversation, not a certified course or a human teacher. The tutor needs an Apple Intelligence device (see the top of this page). Where it cannot run, it says so — there is no stand-in tutor pretending to answer.

Part of the Baro family — The tools you reach for first.

### 4/5 — Overall nice, but not functional yet

*2026-08-21*

I think this application is on the right track, but few things are still missing.
Some UI and design enhancement are still needed.
I will also like to have a more beginner, friendly experience. Even though I selected the beginner, it was still hard to follow.
Also, as a beginner, I am more comfortable, speaking rather than writing my response and I’m more comfortable listening rather than reading.

**Developer response:** Thank you — this is exactly the kind of feedback that changes what we build next.

On listening: tap any tutor message and it will be read aloud. That already works today, and the fact that you did not find it is our problem, not yours — we will make it obvious rather than hidden behind a tap.

On speaking your reply: we do not have voice input yet, and we would rather say so plainly than promise a date we are not sure of. It is the single most requested thing now, and your review moves it up.

On beginner level being hard to follow: that is a real gap, not a preference. Beginner should mean shorter sentences and simpler vocabulary from the very first reply, and we are taking your note as the bar to meet.

Thank you for taking the time — it genuinely helps.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-06-24*

It doesn’t work at all. Just repeat a sentence without noticing your words!!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the honest feedback — and we're sorry the tutor just echoed your sentences. That was the older scripted practice mode. A major update is rolling out with the real on-device tutor that actually understands and replies to what you write, fully private on your phone. Please give it another try once the update lands — we'd love to hear what you think.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.12 — 2026-08-24

Guided conversations, and Arabic.

Until now a device without Apple Intelligence could only do graded exercises. That is practice, but it is not a conversation — and a conversation is why you got this app. There are now written-out conversations you can hold on any iPhone: someone speaks, you pick what to say back, and it goes the way ordering a coffee or asking directions actually goes. Every line was written by a person, so the grammar is right.

Arabic is now a practice language, with exercises and two conversations. Modern Standard Arabic, so it works wherever you are.

### 1.0.11 — 2026-08-22

Reliability fixes so the core feature works smoothly. Thanks for the feedback!

### 1.0.10 — 2026-08-21

Getting around is easier now.

• Swipe from the left edge to go back, the way iPhone does everywhere else
• Info and settings panels always close, even at large text sizes

### 1.0.9 — 2026-08-19

Reliability fixes so the core feature works smoothly. Thanks for the feedback!

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-09

Arabic is now supported, with full right-to-left layout.

This one came from a user request — thank you. If something in your language looks wrong, tell us from the "Built with you" card and we read every message.
