## What is Lantern Calendar?

Lantern Calendar is a planner for people who find it hard to see the big picture: how today's small jobs add up to the things you actually want. It keeps your goals, the work that feeds them, your habits and your day in one quiet place, and draws them as a path you can walk.

THE PATH
Every day with something on it is a lantern on one winding trail, lit once its work is done. The part you've walked glows up to NOW, and a goal's finish line stands on its day like a post. Scroll back through everything you've lit or ahead to what's coming, and pinch to zoom from a single week out to twenty years. Each goal has its own path too, climbing to its summit.

TODAY
The day as one card: how much is lit and what's left. Habits glow as tiles you tap to light. The checklist's add line understands plain English: "call the bank at 3" lands at 3 PM and "dentist fri" goes to Friday. Then Anytime, for jobs with no day, and the next step toward each goal. Plan tomorrow from all your goals, and when a day gets away from you, Carry over moves the rest along. Nothing moves on its own.

THE CALENDAR
A week or a month of day lanterns, with each goal drawn as a bar across its weeks. Tap a bar to see that goal's steps.

GOALS THAT SAY HOW THEY'RE GOING
Goals sit under the bigger aims they serve, each in its own color. One ring shows how much is lit, filled by its steps and by the habits that feed it, with a line in plain words: on track, behind, drifting with two late, quiet for a few weeks, or all done. It always shows the next step. Goals measured in words, miles or pounds get a pace chart and a projected finish.

HABITS THAT FORGIVE
Under the ember rule, one missed day keeps a streak glowing and only two in a row lets it cool. Rest days and pauses, like a trip or a week of being ill, never count as misses. Each week is a row of jewel lanterns, and a week with every day kept is a full set.

WINS
Reach a finish line and take a moment to look back: what helped, what got in the way. Every goal reached, milestone passed and full set of habits is kept in Wins.

START FROM A PLAN
Build a whole goal from a few answers: a half marathon, a first novel draft, NaNoWriMo, Couch to 5K, or steady weight loss. If a week gets away from you, Lantern offers three ways forward: repeat the week, pick up where the plan is, or move the finish.

FOCUS
Tap the clock on any task to focus on it, with one timer or Pomodoro breaks. A ring burns down around the task's lantern, and "Light it" ticks it off and starts the next task with a fresh clock. On iPhone, a Live Activity keeps the time on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

WIDGETS
A checklist you can tick right from the Home Screen, flipping between today and each goal. Plus Focus, This Week (your path of days) and Lock Screen habit rings.

PAPER, IF YOU LIKE IT
Photograph a written list or a notebook page. Lantern reads it on your device, lets you check each line before anything is added, and flags what's already there. Rescan a page later to tick off what's done. On the Mac, print a week's field sheet to carry with you.

QUIET NUDGES
A morning lantern with the shape of your day, a heads-up before events, a nudge for a habit whose time has passed, and evening embers only when something's still open. Quiet hours, a daily limit, no badges, no sounds, and never "you broke your streak."

IPAD AND MAC
On a bigger screen Lantern opens like a book: today on one page and your week on the other, or the calendar across the whole window. The Mac adds the Horizon, a timeline of every goal out to the years ahead, Command-K to capture in plain words, and word counts read from your manuscript.

YOURS, AND ONLY YOURS
Lantern is a single purchase that covers iPhone, iPad and Mac, with no subscription and no account. Your calendar syncs between your devices through your own iCloud, and if iCloud is off, it stays on this device. We don't collect anything: no analytics, no ads, no tracking.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-11-02

Smoother and more dependable, from a full review of the app.

• Habits made for a goal now follow its finish line when you move it.
• Your ticks and journal are safer while iCloud is still syncing.
• Lantern waits for your calendar to arrive from iCloud on a new device.
• The lock screen shows when a focus is up, and widgets start fresh each morning.
• Tap a finish line or event in a day on the Path to open its card.
• Capture understands more: "1st draft" stays in the title, "until next week" sets the end.
• One word for each thing: Reached, Parked, Someday.
• Many smaller fixes across Today, the Calendar, Goals and the Mac.
