But I received my first Lapa devices less than a week before the first one paid for itself. We have several dogs and lots of wild space to roam in central Texas. I attached the Lapa to one dog's (Duke) collar which he managed to lose (again) a few days later. Duke is a very large puppy and he plays and hunts quite vigorously for long periods daily. I knew only very roughly where he had been but the Lapa device and app allowed me to find the collar within 30 minutes. The collar was in an area of meter tall grass and without the Lapa could only be found if you walked directly by it. With the Lapa app I was fairly quickly guided to an area of a few tens of meters in diameter from which I was able to find the collar by activating the tones from the Lapa device. The sound led me directly to the collar. I also appreciate the water resistant Lapa since Duke is a swimmer and stress tests the Lapa device every day. Duke seems quite ok with the Lapa device on his collar. However, I strongly recommend against ever turning the Lapa tones on while it is on any dog's collar as the sound really seems to scare them when it's on their body. ### 2/5 — Dud *2016-10-29, version 3.9* Got 3, and all came with dead battery. Could not open up one to measure. Very hard to open the first two as the tops were almost welded on. Last known location at one point had not updated in 12 hours. How am I supposed to know where I left anything when the last time you saw it was at my work place? When it does work it works well. Plays a chime on both the phone and the Lapa itself when a connection is broken when using safety mode which is nice. Connection occasionally breaks even when they're right next to each other though. If I could more reliably know that the location of my Lapa was being constantly updated every few minutes instead of hours?? I can't speak to how long the batteries last. Well designed and attractive. Unless I am within 50 feet the app can't find the Lapa. With a very small percentage of the population as users and the short location range, I wonder what good a "lost" Lapa mode really is?
