### 5/5 — Love this app

*2018-11-25*

Fantastic take on physical modeling and basic FM. I could see amazing potential if more FM operators were added. Great synth for experimentation and generating really interesting patches that are unobtainable in a typical subtractive synth. Question: what is the difference between the Resonator types A and B? Could you give us a better description of the Resonator Strength and Color controls in addition to being an APF? Thanks for a really interesting product!

### 5/5 — Capable of serious noise / drone experiments

*2018-04-22*

Don’t let the presets fool you, this synth can sound like the jaws of hell if set it right, can’t wait to hear it on a big soundsystem.

### 5/5 — Nice!

*2017-12-24, version 2.1.0*

Very nice resonator synth. Great interface. Cool arp. Crappy presets and so-so reverb. I use it with Audiobus and AD 480 reverb and this puppy sings!

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2017-06-28, version 2.0.4*

I'm so glad that this unique synth continues to receive regular support and updates. Even on my old iPad 2, this app works flawlessly and produces beautiful unique poly sounds that I have not heard from any other mobile synth!

### 5/5 — Lovely organic sounds now in the palm of your hand

*2017-06-20*

Ever since my son ran off with my iPad I've been longing for Laplace to go universal so I could use it on my phone set up. And here it is! The best synths have a character all their own, and this one certainly ticks that box. Highly, highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Great Synth

*2017-03-09*

One of my faves, always keeps me coming back. Easy to create some really nice sounds.

### 5/5 — STILL needs one more thing

*2017-01-12*

The sounds are cool and crisp, and the controls easy to work with. Hours can be lost just fiddling. The one thing I'd like to see added is state saving under AudioBus, which would be useful.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2016-12-23*

I bought the other app with the bells sounds, loved it. Got this one right away and it's cheaper too :)

Great job guys. It's also great to learn about synthetizer skills.

### 5/5 — love it

*2016-07-15, version 1.3.1*

it works beautiful. Try it!

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2016-06-26, version 1.3.1*

### 5/5 — A avoir!!!

*2015-10-04, version 1.2.0*

### 5/5 — Also awesome!

*2015-08-08*

Simple and clean interface with cool sounds to explore. Even though I do not know much about synthesis I do find it easy with all of iceworks stuff to tune and tweak sounds to fit the mix and the mood. Not too many presets but you don't need many because it is easy to fiddle and customize patches.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2015-06-09*

This is a great synth but you can't go buy just the presets. I had to start digging into them and making adjustments before I found the real magic in this synthesizer. And it is magic. The arpeggiator it is one of the best and combined with the sounds that are possible inspires some pretty amazing creativity.
This one has my recommendation.

### 5/5 — The patches don't do this synth justice

*2015-04-05*

The patches are pretty boring and don't sit well with my music but the sound engine is amazing. The FM is very useful and I'm getting some really brutal cutting sounds out of this. If they got some different sounds designers to contribute patches, I think the potential of this synth would be very quickly seen. Great work! Glad I took the chance and bought it. Their other synth was my go to for a long time, so I knew this one had to be good.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Has potential

*2015-04-28, version 1.1.1*

Sounds a bit thin on its own. The thing that really bothers me about this app is the fact there is no global tuning.

### 2/5 — Noch nicht so überzeugend - 09-2019

*2019-09-16*

### 2/5 — Not wonderful - not bad either

*2014-12-20*

I was expecting something like what you'd find in NI's Reaktor 5 ... Disappointing - but not "horrible" nice UI tho ... Maybe with some updates this can be as mesmerizing as some of Reaktors physical models of resonators

### 3/5 — User-friendly; unique sounds

*2015-10-31*

The single screen makes for a compact app that's easy to tweak and shouldn't be daunting for beginner patch designers.

Laplace and Lorentz are both affordable, usable, and bug-free. Neither is an iOS staple, but both could be a good entryway into learning the concepts of synthesis. Laplace is a bit more of a niche tool than Lorentz, but I coaxed much more unique and memorable sounds out of this. Like others have said, the presets don't do Laplace any justice.

Just for the record (it can do more), if you want to sound like Kate Bush in her heyday with minimal fuss, definitely get this.

### 3/5 — good synth,...

*2015-03-22*

...but some way to go to be perfect. sounds good, interesting concept. design modern and appealing.

i deduct one star because of the panel layout. i find it illogical in terms of workflow and transparency. it does not guide or help the user.

i deduct another star for the lack of proper documentation. there are some basic infos on the website. but they do not help much really. since this synth is much more complex than a traditional analog subtractive synth, this lack is really a downside. to understand the very many interdependencies of this synth engine, it would be essential to get to know what parameters do exactly.

### 4/5 — Very Good Specialty Synth

*2016-07-11*

Synth fans may at first be surprised at the lack of access "under the hood" to the deeper features of this synth. What is then surprising is how much variation can be dialed in with the controls provided. It has a unique, if somewhat thin voice and can provide many struck string, percussive, and blown sounds. It is a companion to Mersenne, which is similar sounding but based on percussive sounds.

### 4/5 — Your ability to create new sounds unlike the factory set provided.

*2016-07-09*

I love this app as well as all the apps created by this developer. Basically, the factory presets are just bad, but that can be a good thing. The first thing I look at before purchasing a synthesizer is can I create and store my original presets. On this inexpensive synth you can. It tests your ability to not have a ton of LFOs, Oscillators, Envelopes and it does make the sounds that are specified in the information paragraph easy. I like to take a synth known for some specific sounds and move as far as I can away from them. In one hour I had a half a dozen presets that were completely different from the factory set. If you want to challenge yourself, for $4.00, this synth is a great test for your creativity. 4 stars because no Bluetooth, other than that a lot to work at.

### 4/5 — My favorite resonator synth

*2016-02-24*

I'm definitely liking this so far. Stands apart from most other iOS synths with a unique sound.
Pleeeeease move the preset display box over to the left and spread out those 3 top right corner buttons.

Thank you!!

### 4/5 — It's satisfactory

*2014-11-26*

I like Cassini better. I'm not sure if I am a fan of this type of synthesis. I can't fault the app for this so I'm not going to. Right now this is a ? for me.

### 5/5 — Eccellente

*2025-12-12, version 2.6.5*

### 5/5 — Delightful synth

*2023-11-07*

After creating 8 beautiful and distinctive patches in this synth, I can truly say it is one of my favorites. The blend of percussive, resonant, and FM synthesis is compelling and surprisingly deep. Had an issue which I thought was due to this synth, but turned out to be a configuration problem with my DAW. IceGear support was very prompt and helpful!

### 5/5 — So good

So good

### 5/5 — The glitch with the Mac App Store is on Apples end.

*2023-04-18*

Thanks. Your advice worked, and even though the Mac App Store asks us to pay again. Once I click buy, it recognized I had already purchased the iOS version, and it was free. I’m looking forward to the rest of your apps on Mac.

**Developer response:** I apologize for any confusion or frustration this issue may have caused you.

Firstly, if you have already purchased the app on your iOS device, you should not have to purchase it again on your Mac. The app should be available for free download on your Mac as well.

Secondly, the issue you have experienced is due to a bug in the App Store's display, and if you proceed with the download process, you should ultimately be able to download the app for free.

Lastly, I want to clarify that the issue lies with the App Store, and as a developer, I am unable to solve any issues related to the App Store. If you have any further questions or concerns, I recommend contacting Apple support for assistance.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2022-04-10*

Incredible sounding app! Very versatile. Especially superb for metallic, resonating bell, gong type textures. Big thanks to the developer for keeping up this and the other apps🙌🏻

### 5/5 — Interesting sound scapes .....

*2020-10-28, version 2.5.5*

It offers an interesting range of 'orchestral type soundscapes', but importantly the devs maintain relevant & regular updates. On this alone it deserves 5 stars. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2020-07-23*

Perfect for creating lovely 4th world soundscapes

### 5/5 — Great sounding synth

*2019-11-11*

Lots of good sounds coming out of this one! Like all of their synths! Get it now!

### 5/5 — A constant favorite iOS synth

*2018-12-17*

I have had a continual appreciation for the sound of this synthesizer, over the few years it has been out. One the best things about iOS is being able to have a collection of different types of synthesizers, and this one is unique and simple, and is a musical interpretation of physical modeling synthesis. I like and use Mersenne as well, and consider them to be part of a set, but if you are starting out, Laplace is the one. The sound is something interesting to me, as kind of a missing addendum to late 80’s, early 90’s synthesis, post analog, before sampling took over, from FM and wavetable.
