I use a cable from my IPad to on old computer monitor so everyone car see the screen. It is a little finicky but better than the expensive alternatives. I was a bit skeptical, but it actually works fantastic. My only gripe is that I wish it could display in landscape mode. So I just about bought a system for over $200 when I found this app. Yes, this app does exactly what I was wanting. I needed something to count laps and record lap time. This app delivers beyond my expectations, not only does it do said needs but it calls them out to me in real time. I currently use this for practicing laps with my RC cars and trucks, I like to run a set number of laps so I have it set for 20 laps to which the Lap Tracker will count and time the laps, call them out to me and sound a bell at the finish. I love that I can save and send the results by email, I later import them into a spreadsheet I developed that shows me all kinds of statistics from all the data collected. The app is so incredibly easy to setup and use, has no known bugs as I have not found anything. I do have two suggestions though... I see the developer has an app to capture speed “Speed Clock”, it would be cool to incorporate that, the other suggestion is that the app save a default email address for fast and ease of sending of results data. There is many other features this app has I have not used yet and I look forward to that soon, like racing against my friends. My first ever app purchase and I couldn’t be happier ### 5/5 — Great tool for RC Race Practice! *2023-08-02, version 4.0.1* Used this today to work on improving my lap times at my local RC track. Put my phone on a little bendy tripod pointed across the start/finish line and set the zone height to cover the whole width of the lane. I wasn’t sure if the spoken lap times would work with bluetooth but was pleasantly surprized to hear the lap number and time spoken through my airpods up on the driver’s stand. Excited to try the “Stop after X Time” and “Finish Last Lap” options to simulate a 5 minute qualifier or Main next time I use this. Of course, the timing only worked accurately because I was the only one on the track - multiple cars passing through the timing zone would have completely messed up the timing. Sure you can set multiple timing zones or “lanes” but this only really works for slot-cars, hotwheels or other activities where the object being timed stays in a specific lane on every pass. RC cars and their drivers are far less predictable. Still, for the price and what i needed this for it works great! ### 4/5 — Good app *2023-06-17, version 4.0.1* Simple to setup and use. Simple to use, easy to set up on a tripod with phone. It is light sensitive so be sure your in a well lighted area and not casting light/shadows as you walk by or around the track. Set it up in an easy to reach spot. $200.00 cheaper than the in-track unit although not as in depth, not that you really need one of those at a home family track. ### 5/5 — Wow. *2023-03-04, version 4.0.1* I’ve always done manual lap counting, pressing a button with each pass, not very accurate. Now thanks to Laptracker, and a little camera bridge, I have a decent lap counter and timer. What’s not to like about the price. There are a few glitches with the voices/ sounds, though. But the timer works every time. The sounds stop unexpectedly and the app needs to be fully shut down to get going again. There is no way to stop an in-progress race and restart. It just starts and starts and restarts again! Again you need to fully shut down the app. Does not seem like the developer tested it before launch. Common software development tactic. Sometimes though the camera either sees nothing or records a time for both lanes even though only one car has passed. Adjusting the sensitivity doesn’t help. Another feature that would be great would be to choose different colours for different lanes. I have red and blue controllers - I’d love to colour the lane ids red and blue too. ### 3/5 — Not great *2019-10-30, version 4.0.1* I tried this on my 2 lane set up using an iPad. Results were mixed. Too often the wrong lane would get tagged for a pass or be missed completely.
