## What is Last Light?

Last Light is an idle clicker about a self-replicating swarm consuming solar systems — the asteroid belt first, then the planets one by one, and finally the star itself, shrinking stage by stage down to a final ember. When there's nothing left, you launch for the next system and do it again. Forever.

A FLEET YOU CAN ACTUALLY WATCH
Every probe you build is a real ship on screen. It flies in from deep space, takes its place in the formation, works, wanders, gets shepherded back into line — and eventually grows old and dives into the star, replaced by a fresh arrival. Scouts skitter wide. Harvester swarms crawl close and heavy. Higher classes discipline the classes below them, and you can watch the formation tighten as your command structure deepens. Pinch to zoom in on a single ship or out to the whole dying system.

TAP, OR DON'T
Tap the star to harvest matter directly — or let the swarm work while you're away. Offline progress banks automatically.

AN ENDLESS ROGUELITE LOOP
Launching ends the run: the swarm completely strips the system and moves on, and you earn Blueprint Data to spend on permanent upgrades — propulsion, automation, deeper harvesting, head starts for every future arrival. Each launch offers more surveyed destinations with their own traits: metal-rich systems fabricate cheap, ancient systems run deep and slow, radiant stars burn bright and die fast. Chart new star types entirely — red dwarfs, gas giants, binary pairs, white dwarfs, red giants, and stranger things.

THE ATLAS REMEMBERS
Every consumed system enters your catalog: its name, its record, how long it lasted, how large the swarm grew. Nobody else will ever read it. The catalog is long. The catalog is patient.

— Finite, physical systems: everything the swarm takes, the star visibly loses
— A living fleet of hundreds of individually simulated ships
— An endgame worth watching: the star gives up its mass in stages while the swarm assembles its departure ring
— Roguelite destination choices with system traits
— Permanent progression through Blueprint Data
— Offline earnings up to 12 hours
— Optional rewarded boosts. One optional purchase removes the banner. No paywalls, ever.

The universe is full of quiet places nobody will miss. Visit each one, once.

### 5/5 — Great start / my suggested improvements.

*2026-08-19*

I’ve been playing Last Light and I really like the core idea. Watching a small swarm grow into hundreds of probes, dismantle planets, surround the star, form the departure ring, collapse the core, and then carry Blueprint progression into the next system is extremely satisfying. The visual progression makes it feel like you are actually building a self-replicating machine civilization rather than simply watching numbers increase.

I especially like the different probe tiers, Blueprint upgrades, doctrines/Standing Orders, different star types, and the fact that the solar system physically becomes emptier as it is consumed. The endgame around 80–90% consumption is also a great touch.

I would love to see the game expanded even further. Some ideas:

• More probe and megastructure tiers beyond the current classes, with more distinct visual behaviors and purposes.
• More exotic systems such as pulsars, magnetars, supergiants, black-hole systems, rogue planets, triple-star systems, and extremely rare systems.
• A clearer description or info screen explaining exactly what each probe class does and what the different symbols/icons around planets mean.
• More visible destruction animations when planets are being harvested, including cracking, shrinking, changing color, debris, or probes visibly stripping their surfaces.
• More detailed statistics showing which probe class is producing the most Matter, total Matter consumed, fastest system completion, largest swarm, and other records.
• A larger galaxy/sector map showing all previously consumed systems and the expansion of the swarm over time.
• More Blueprint upgrade paths and very expensive late-game technologies to give long-term players something huge to work toward.
• Optional notifications for things like offline progress reaching its limit, a planet being consumed, a Blueprint threshold being reached, or the launch window opening.
• More explanation of mechanics such as Projected Blueprint Data, direct harvest, production bonuses, milestones, doctrines, and the final star-collapse sequence.
• More dramatic late-game visuals as the swarm becomes enormous—thousands or eventually much larger numbers of machines, orbital structures, harvesting rings, or Dyson-swarm-like formations.

Most importantly, I hope the game keeps emphasizing scale. Starting with a handful of probes and eventually becoming something capable of consuming entire stellar regions could make this one of the most interesting idle space games on the App Store.

There is already a very strong foundation here. I would love to see the developer keep building on the idea because the concept has much more room to grow.

**Developer response:** Hey supra, thank you so much for your detailed review! Have to say this first - love your name. Such a cool car.

As for Last Light, a new update was just released, so make sure you check it out! Star visuals got a facelift, offline notifications were added for when stars are ready to be consumed, balancing was reworked so as to be less tedious to progress, some of the statistics you mentioned that you wanted were added to the game, and the UI had a slight rework in the hopes that it will make the mechanics (yes, projected blueprints, we’re talking about you) clearer.

Your suggestions for more complex sector maps, more visible destruction for the bodies in the systems other than the star (planets, asteroid belts, etc.), more impressive system/star types, and more dramatic and powerful late-game visuals and technologies have been noted and you’ll be happy to know that some of these specific ideas are already in the works! Again, thank you so much for your detailed suggestions and your review, and we hope you keep enjoying the game!

### 5/5 — Perfection

*2026-08-17*

Been playing for a few days and that’s not gonna change for a few years, awesome game super simple and fun with enough little bits to stay interesting, amazing work can’t wait to see more updates in the future!

**Developer response:** Hey, thanks so much! I really appreciate the review. Plenty of updates to come!

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-08-20

The stars in each system look alive now! Worlds are lit by their star and turn as they orbit. Space has depth. Binary systems got their own treatment: the swarm threads a figure-eight between the two suns. Coronal ejections you can see and ringed gas giants.

Gameplay Changes:
- Early surveys are dramatically faster — your first collapse now lands inside a single sitting, and the belt visibly erodes within minutes.
- Standing-order doctrines whose numbers are now exactly real.
- New tutorials for derelict salvage, bulk fabrication, and husk relays.
- A cleaner return: when a star finishes while you're away, the game opens ready to collapse — no pile of windows.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-10

STANDING ORDERS
Every system now asks the swarm for a doctrine, and holds it until the star is
spent. Milestones sooner, the heavy machines answering first, the light classes
carrying the survey — one choice per star, and the same system always offers the
same three. Two runs on the same star no longer play the same way.

A NEW KIND OF STAR
Brown dwarfs: small, cold, and quick. Never massed enough to ignite, and they
pay evenly right to the end.

THE SKY REMEMBERS
Stars you have already eaten leave working infrastructure behind. Every husk in
a sector makes fabrication cheaper, so the order you consume a sky is now a plan.

THE SURVEY TELLS YOU MORE
Destination cards show what a star will pay and roughly how long it will take —
measured from your own past surveys. The launch window now opens as soon as a
star can give no more Blueprint, instead of holding you there for nothing.

ALSO
• 2× Overdrive now runs on real time, counting down while you are away.
• A launch sequence when the game opens.
• The dying star looks like a star.
• Fixed derelict salvage being unclaimable after the first time.
