### 5/5 — By far the best app for climbing — and the smartest way to train for it

*2025-09-07*

Lattice Training is exactly the kind of app climbers have been waiting for: thoughtful, well-designed and clearly built by people who understand climbing and training. The UI is clean and intuitive, the training concept is smart (progressive, varied and easy to follow), and the fact that Lattice makes the app available to customers of its course subscriptions (including A Climber’s Guide to Training) at no extra cost is a very generous touch.

That said, it isn’t perfect. Small bugs pop up from time to time and I noticed some exercises and whole workouts appear more than once. The workout library is already large and useful, but it could be even richer — more unique exercises and a bigger database would take the app from great to exceptional. One practical improvement: a dedicated “Lattice Choice” section that contains only the exercises/workouts Lattice recommends for a climber’s current level (clearly filtered by ability). Another highly useful feature would be the ability for users to build their own custom workouts by combining existing exercises — that would make the app far more flexible for tailored training sessions. With that curated list, a custom-workout builder, and some deduplication, the app would become far easier to navigate and even more powerful for focused progress.

Pros
	•	Excellent design and user experience.
	•	Training philosophy and programming feel expert-level and practical.
	•	App access included for customers of Lattice’s course subscriptions — a generous perk.

Cons
	•	Occasional small bugs.
	•	Duplicate exercises/workouts clutter the library.
	•	Database could be larger and more varied.
	•	No built-in custom-workout builder yet.

Bottom line: Lattice Training already delivers huge value, especially for subscribers to Lattice’s course offerings. If they iron out the bugs, clean up duplicates, add a curated “Lattice Choice” area tailored to each level, and let users combine exercises into their own workouts, the app on its own would easily be worth more than the current bundle. Highly recommended for any serious climber who wants a practical, well-crafted training tool.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! 🙌

Duplicate sessions should be fixed early in the new year — we really appreciate your patience while we work on that. We’ve also got some exciting updates coming soon that will make sessions even richer and more tailored to you.

We love your suggestion about curating sessions by level — that’s exactly the kind of feedback that helps us keep improving. And if you spot any bugs along the way, please let us know via the Help & Support section in your profile in-app. We work hard to fix anything that’s flagged.

We’re excited to keep bringing you new features, so please keep sharing your experience. Thanks again for being part of the Lattice community! 💪

### 5/5 — Super Trainingsapp

*2025-08-13*

I really love the app. If you get used to the surface and know how to schedule everything I think it is one of the best apps on the market.
They are working a lot on a new update that makes it hopefully possible to define sets and reps on your own. If they make this happen there is absolutely no reason to give this app a go and see progress in your climbing goals. Thanks lattice!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your great review! The team are still working hard on that update, so you can edit the sets and reps. Thanks so much for your patience on that one.

Happy training!

### 5/5 — Absolutely brilliant

*2025-02-26, version 2.1.4*

So psyched with the developers effort on this app.

### 3/5 — Need circuit function

*2025-01-15*

Love the training and Lattice, the the app desperately needs a circuit function. Not being able to do multiple exercises in a circuit makes it a really clunky experience.

### 5/5 — Great training plan!

*2024-01-31*

While it was sometimes a bit tricky to keep up the momentum, there is zero question about the effectiveness of the plan on my climbing. It helped me break through the plateau I was stuck at, and I was even able to grab my first 7A.. Most importantly it got me to (finally) add some structure to my gym visits, and forced me to puzzle a training routine into everyday life. It was great to do this with a buddy (who also made gains), and some of my mates were impressed enough with the progress that they have also signed up for the program.

### 5/5 — Great coaches and training app!

*2023-12-19*

Lattice is leading the game on assessments and data-based training for climbing. I’ve worked with Oli Grounsell for about 3 years now and seen good gains (and less injury). It’s great to work with an experienced and super knowledgeable coach who also walks the talk. Lattice is great for the self-motivated climber looking to train up their weaknesses and have more structure for climbing improvement. They’ve improved the app a lot and it does what you need with a solid UX.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-10-25*

The impact of this app on my climbing cannot be underestimated.

### 5/5 — A great, easy to use App.

*2023-10-10*

I’ve been following a performance plan for a number of years now, and this App has made the experience even better!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2023-06-30*

Personally this is my favorite training app I’ve used for climbing. The app is a part of the package when you purchase a training plan from lattice. I love that I can easily keep in touch with my coach via the messaging feature (I’m sure he would appreciate fewer messages from me though haha).

The scheduling is designed such that you have a certain set of exercises to complete each week, but it’s up to you to decide when to complete them. I love that I can schedule around my life. If I feel like I need to optimize the structure of my week better, my coach is more than happy to help.

For me perhaps the best part of the app is the built in timers. It’s nice to have a workout that starts and you have to do very little in terms of fiddling with the app or timer. I prefer to workout and climb rather than messing with technology.

The tracking feature is also nice so I can see my progress over time.

Overall I think the app is well done. Simple enough to not require lots of fiddling, but has enough features that meaningful tracking and planning can be done.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! It's great to hear you are enjoying your Performance Coaching Plan and our app.

### 5/5 — Lattice app review

*2023-03-22*

I have found this app really easy to use. You can easily schedule your training for the week in the planner. Each exercise has videos to go with them so if you are not sure if you are doing something with correct form then it is really helpful to watch the videos. This app has made my training so much more organised and also helped me with the individual exercises.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2023-03-03*

I’ve been training with Lattice for over a year now, and I really appreciate having this app for my workouts and to communicate with my coach easily.

### 1/5 — The password reset does not work

*2025-12-23*

Tried logging in and my password did not work, and the reset is not sending to my email

### 1/5 — Turns off Spotify Music

*2025-08-22*

Ever since I updated my IOS, the lattice training app turns off my Spotify music.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the feedback. We're aware of this issue and are currently working on a fix 🏃 You should hear from us in the next few days. Thanks for your patience!

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2023-06-27*

Was looking for a bit more structure in my training but ended up with a bunch of random unscheduled exercises. Meh

**Developer response:** Thanks for the message. All our training plans are personalised to the athlete's goals, preferred discipline, aims, training history and lives (such as your time to train and access to facilities). Clients complete a pre-plan form and remote assessment and from this, we’re able to build plans that specifically address the aspects of training that deliver results. Through the app, athletes are able to organise their own weekly schedule - this has proved the most effective and enjoyable training method. The scheduler allows clients to follow their psyche and energy levels, or switch things up and jump on their project outside as the perfect conditions come in!

Coaches schedule your first week of training to give you an idea of how best to organise your week, however, do get in touch at contact@latticetraining.com if you would like more support.

### 1/5 — Login not possible

*2023-06-14*

Login is buggy and will not allow you to sign in as buttons disappear and text boxes disappear as well.

**Developer response:** Thanks for getting in touch. Our application is currently only available to clients on one of our bespoke training plan services, it sounds like you might not have a plan yet. If you do have a plan, and are still experiencing this issue, please get in touch so we can help - contact@latticetraining.com. You can learn more about our training plans through that email too. Thank you, Daina and the Lattice Training Team

### 1/5 — Login

*2023-04-15*

I have never come across an app that’s so difficult to get into , login and password doesn’t work and can’t get into the app, download crimpd app it’s much easier.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your message. Our application is currently only available to clients on our bespoke training plan service, it sounds like you may not have a plan with us yet. To learn more about our services you can email us at contact@latticetraining.com. Thanks, Tommy and the Lattice Training Team.

### 1/5 — Unstable nor functional as basic timer.

*2023-01-08*

If I can give -5 stars I would.

**Developer response:** Hi Medslim, we are sorry that you have had issues with our app 😔. We want the Lattice Training app to be the best it can be and we are working hard to improve it. We have recently released an update that improves its stability and functionality - it is worth checking that you have updated to the latest version (v1.2, released on 18th Jan ‘23). We are available at contact@latticetraining.com if you need any further assistance or have more feedback for us (we really value feedback!). Cheers, Dave and the Lattice Training team.

### 1/5 — Wish it worked.

*2023-01-06*

5 stars for when it worked. I got like 10 days of using. Hopefully the new version comes soon because right now I can’t access my plan at all. I wish the app wouldn’t pause my music, and timer would continue if I exit out of the app during rest phases.

**Developer response:** We are really sorry for the hassle Imaniv6. Version 1.2 of the app (released on 18th Jan ‘23) will solve the issue you are having of being unable to access your plan as well as improving the general stability of the app. We are working hard to improve the app as we want everyone’s experience using the app to be positive. Please email us at contact@latticetraining.com if you need any help with your plan or the app. Cheers, Dave and the Lattice Training team.

### 2/5 — Could be so much better

*2026-06-02*

I’ve been a long time Crimpd user and was really excited about this release, but I’m left really frustrated.

The plans that get generated are so generic it’s frustrating. You’re not really asked anything other than a vague “what are you trying to achieve”, there’s no further questions about where you think your strengths or weaknesses are, or sessions you don’t like or maybe things you do/don’t want to focus on. You can’t even really edit the plan afterwards (I know you can substitute sessions to something else of the same ilk but it’s very limited), you just hit generate and that’s it! I was left thinking “well how the hell do you know that’s going to be any good for me?!”.

Honestly, if you’re new to training and just want something very generic and cookie cutter like to follow it’s probably “fine”, but I’m not convinced it’ll actually be that effective from a training for climbing perspective.

### 2/5 — Lattice good but app flawed

*2024-04-25*

The ideas here are good but the UX is rough:
- it’s unintuitive to find videos
- you can’t switch between exercises in your rest breaks (stretching and strength for example make good pairs)
- some exercises are unnecessarily nested together
- some exercises are supposed to be done multiple times but thats not the “set” count, its just listed in the description
- you should be able to watch the instructional video and read the description while the timer runs

**Developer response:** Hey thanks for your message! We should have some useful updates coming to you soon to improve your experience. We'd be interested to understand which exercises aren't reflected in the set count, please email contact@latticetraining.com and tell us more. Thanks for your time

### 3/5 — Hard to figure out.

*2025-07-09*

I expected to just be given daily work outs. This happened the first week and now week two…? Not sure if I just don’t get what I am supposed to do. Also found instructions are long and complicated so I really have to spend a lot of time reading the instructions before I start. Hoping it’s just user error because the exercises and video examples are good.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. We're sorry the plan wasn't what you expected.

Our self-led plans are designed to be flexible, allowing you to schedule sessions around your commitments / energy levels / access to equipment. The plan may initially look like a list of exercises, but it is fully tailored to your assessment and goals.

I'd be happy to help you with scheduling sessions or prioritising exercises, please get in touch at contact@latticetraining.com so we can give more guidance on structuring your week.

We've also added a new feature which allows you to copy your schedule from the previous week! (you can find this by clicking the 3 dots in your scheduler)

### 5/5 — Brilliant training app

*2026-06-03*

The training plan was great and such good value overall. The app built me a plan, the sessions were really easy to follow and I got so much stronger within only 3 months! I’ll be using for the forseeable!

### 5/5 — Absolutely brilliant

*2026-06-01*

Amazing app and constantly being improved. Really pleased I invested in using this.

### 5/5 — Really helpful

*2026-05-07*

I improved by around two climbing grades in a few months, going from V4/V5 to V6/V7 while using the app. What worked well for me was that I didn’t really train more, just in a more focused and structured way.

I also had an issue with my training plan at the beginning because of a bug, but after contacting support I got a quick reply and the problem was fixed fast.

Overall, I’ve had a really good experience with the app.

### 5/5 — Sent the Proj! 8A at age 41

*2026-04-20*

I just hit a personal bouldering milestone, and I think the lattice training app may have been the deciding factor for me in the achievement. I’ve been climbing off and on for 25 years and never had a coach or followed a structured training plan. I decided to give the Lattice app a try in January of this year because I felt like I had gotten about as far as I could on my own. On the day of the send I warmed up as usual on individual moves and trying links. When I felt ready, I gave a max effort ground rip falling just before the last move. Normally after a super hard effort like that I would feel powered down and my session would be in decline, but I was able to continue giving max effort goes from the bottom and executing better each go until the send. I was pretty shocked at the performance. Upon reflection, I think the 12 week training block I completed in preparation for the spring season gave me the power endurance I needed to send and really made a huge impact on my climbing. I’m excited to see what’s next!

### 5/5 — Great value

*2026-04-09*

Great stuff!! Really good interface and the training worked well.

### 5/5 — Lattice Training

*2026-04-02*

I have followed a Lattice Training Plan in the past which was very successful. I am coming back from a shoulder injury and I have been using this Lattice app for over three months now and I am beginning to notice improvements in both my strength and mobility. I particularly like being able to add and modify the plan myself if I feel something is missing. Being able to schedule the plan around my hectic lifestyle (and minor tweaks) is awesome too.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-11-13*

The app is great and the support on the back end is fantastic. Long time climber. New to training for climbing. Super excited to work with the team and improve my performance.

**Developer response:** This is lovely to hear - the team are working hard to continue to bring you the best climbing training app out there. More updates incoming, which we're psyched about. 💪

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2025-10-30*

Really easy to use and intuitive. Does everything I need and presents my data in a nice easily digestible manner.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback! Watch out for more updates in December 👀

### 5/5 — Latest version is excellent

*2025-10-21*

Came here to write a five-star review of the app and was shocked to see a 2.5 star average. Looks like older versions got bad reviews but IMO the current version is great. There is a superset/circuit function that works well, it's very easy to schedule/reschedule workouts, and rearrange the order of exercises within in workouts, the app looks slick, exercises/drills have clear instructions, logging workouts is easy and fast and intuitive, and there is a history of all your logged workouts so you can track progress and refer to old notes. I think it's still in beta, technically, so it's even more impressive.

If I could add a feature or two, I'd like to be able to add my own exercises to workouts, not just the ones prescribed or created by lattice. Also on my iPhone there is a glitch where the timer interferes with my other audio like music or podcasts. Fixing those two would make it absolutely flawless for my needs, but even still I think five stars are well-earned. Update: audio is fixed!!

**Developer response:** Boom! Enjoying the love, thanks so much for the feedback! Thank you for the feature suggestion too, duly noted. ✍️
