Money at the till (eiro, centi, cena, čeks), the signs on the door (atvērts = open, slēgts = closed), and the questions people actually ask you back: Cik tev gadu?, Kā iet?, Kur tu strādā?, Un tu? • The words you kept meeting but never learned — dictionary forms of verbs you use constantly (varēt = can, saukt = to call / be named), base nouns that only ever appeared inside phrases (diena, centrs, ēdiens, numurs, karte, vieta, ceļš), and weather and colour words like saulains, mākoņains and krāsa. • Phrases for the moment you need them — Lēnāk lūdzu, Ko tas nozīmē, Vēl vienu lūdzu, To pašu lūdzu, līdzņemšanai, Veiksmi, Visu labu, plus stūris, luksofors, lētāks, nākamais and more. • Two examples, not one — 215 more second example sentences across numbers, days and time, pronouns, connectors, prepositions, places, weather and jobs.
