Boom ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Lava is a Scam *2026-08-04, version 3.20.0* Lava is not reliable. They allowed me to deposit money into my account, but I haven't been able to withdraw it. They told me my account had been flagged and was under review for over two months, even though I was never notified before depositing money that my account had been flagged. I've contacted support several times, but they keep telling me the review is ongoing. They often reply very late, and sometimes they don't respond at all. I was also logged out of my account and stopped receiving the verification code needed to log back in. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using Lava. ### 1/5 — How terrible *2026-07-22* What they hide: there are blocks and barriers at every single step and in every conceivable way. This must be how the founder Shehzan Maredia likes to mess with us. BTC loans are not 5% but 7%/year. They hide the other 2% and call it a “fee”. Nobody cares what it’s called, we care what the total cost is. There are blocks to withdraw BTC, withdraw USD ($20 min), card cash back is locked until their arbitrary minimum is reached for no reason. Stupidity in this app and anti-consumerism are rampant. ### 1/5 — Serious support issue — funds stuck after wrong-token deposit *2026-06-29, version 3.15.0* On 24/06/2026, I accidentally sent USDT instead of USDC while topping up my Lava card. I reported the issue to support and provided the transaction information, but nearly one week later there is still no clear resolution. For a crypto card product, deposit mistakes such as wrong token or wrong network should have a transparent recovery process. Instead, the support response has been extremely slow, communication is limited to email, and there appears to be no reliable escalation path. This is a serious concern because user funds can remain stuck with no clear timeline or accountability. I am requesting Lava to escalate my case immediately and provide a written update regarding recovery, manual credit, or refund options. I will revise this rating if the matter is properly resolved. Until then, I would advise other users to be very careful before depositing funds into this app. Transaction hash:4Noe…Rzs ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-04-16, version 3.1.2* They changed their custody model without communication and caused loss of funds… avoid these guys ### 1/5 — Warning: Funds Not Safe *2025-11-15, version 2.4.0* Downloaded app in December 2024. Advertised as wallet that did not require seed phrase. Dev changed business model and modified app. I updated app and wallet balance vanished. Contacted support and response was can’t help you if you don’t have seed phrase. ### 1/5 — This app should be in beta *2024-12-20* You cannot repay your loan at any time or post collateral (as advertised on their website). They take your bitcoin as collateral quickly but it took 3 days to get access to the dollars after the collateral was posted. I believe that this is just early days and they are overwhelmed but with that being said, I wouldn’t trust them with much coin until they’ve proven all this is figured out. After doing so the menu tab says the same thing and tries to get you to buy more… and buying on Lava is THE WORST RATE of any exchange I have tried! 3.5% built into the spread is another BAD LOOK! A lot more work to do if this is ever going to be a competitive, trustworthy, Bitcoin-friendly company… Original Review: The update on Dec. 4 seemed to install fine, but the next day the App won’t open, the only screen it gives is, “Lava’s latest version is here. Please update it now” and clicking the button does nothing. I’ve deleted and reinstalled and get the same message, both on iOS iPhone and iPad versions, whether on WiFi or data, nothing. No access to the App means no access to my bitcoin! When you’re starting with a 2% origination fee, and you’re new to the market, having a nice looking app only goes so far. Wish I could trial a loan to compare vs others but not worth it with so many decent alternatives. **Developer response:** Lava’s line of credit offers a 5% fixed annual interest rate, plus a 2% capital charge assessed only on your max outstanding balance throughout the year. This structure allows us to offer line of credit flexibility, where you can borrow and repay as needed throughout the year, and you only ever pay a capital charge on your max balance. Lava’s all-in 7% rate is currently the lowest fixed interest rate available on the market for bitcoin-backed loans.
