### 1/5 — Overload issues

*2024-12-31, version 7.8.23*

Buses are not on time. We've been waiting at the pickup point for an hour, and customer support failed to help us. They simply explained it as an overloaded issue causing bus delays.

### 1/5 — Yevhen

*2024-12-13, version 7.8.23*

Used their app to buy tickets and been charged twice and no tickets ever appeared in my “wallet” ,it’s absolutely a scam service

### 2/5 — Don’t flyaway too far from functionality

*2024-12-12, version 7.8.23*

The app is very, very hit or miss when you want to work it glitches up and shows error codes. Customer service offer some relief, but the functionality of the app in itself needs a serious upgrade. Sometimes you’re better off paying with credit card
Directly.

### 1/5 — Extremely unreliable

*2024-12-05, version 7.8.23*

Having tried this service 3 times now it just can’t be relied on.

Bus driver got in a fight with some lady at my terminal so he stopped loading the bus up and left when there where MANY open seats.

So I then spent the next hour and a half waiting bus after bus, just flying past me after I had bought an unrefundable ticket that will expire before I fly again.

Waste of time and money, can’t believe there isn’t a solution for bus travel from an airport as big as LAX.

### 1/5 — Rude drivers, bad customer service

*2024-11-26, version 7.8.23*

Employees don’t know basic info about the service. Driver left some people behind with seats available. Bus was dirty and power outlets didn’t work. Do yourself a favor and take an uber or Lyft instead of this nasty bus. Never again

### 1/5 — What’s the point?

*2024-11-23, version 7.8.23*

I downloaded the app hoping to catch the bus and get information about where it was. The app sent me to a web page to access the live tracker, which made me wonder why I needed to download the app. The live tracker updated the “real time” location of the bus only for the bus to show up 18 mins early, a time not reflected on the live tracker. This worked out for me since I was waiting already but what was the point of the app? Then I was informed that I could just tap my debit card on the bus for a ticket. So what was the point of downloading this poorly designed barely functioning app?

### 1/5 — Too few buses

*2024-11-15, version 7.8.23*

We were waiting for 45 min for a Flyaway to Union Station, only to be turned away because it was full. They need to run more buses!

### 1/5 — Fraudulent App

*2024-11-02, version 7.8.23*

Bus driver rudely told me his card reader was busted and that I had to pay with app. I tried to pay with the app only for it to claim the payment was denied and then charge me anyway. Ended up paying in cash, so I was charged twice for already overpriced airport shuttle that was late

### 2/5 — FlyAway App Mistakes? Prepare to Pay Twice

*2024-10-20, version 7.8.23*

Here’s a concise review for you:

The FlyAway app could use some serious improvements. If you make a mistake while purchasing a ticket, it charges you without any way to fix the error, forcing you to buy a new ticket. To make things worse, there’s no staff available at the bus station to help when problems arise. Instead, other passengers in line are the ones stepping in to assist. With higher prices, you’d expect better service, but it feels like they’ve cut corners in all the wrong places.

### 1/5 — Avoid at all costs

*2024-10-10*

Bought ticket off app but for an hour and a half, multiple buses passed by without stopping. Ended up taking an uber which cost more money. When I asked for a refund through their support line, which inherently was difficult, they said all sales are final, and “it's important to acknowledge that FlyAway service operates within the broader context of public transportation. Consequently, estimating precise wait durations can be challenging due to the inherently variable nature of traffic conditions in the Los Angeles area.” Absolutely disgusting, please avoid at all costs

### 1/5 — Inaccurate bus schedule and tracker

*2024-10-01, version 7.8.23*

Bus schedule is inaccurate. Says there’s a bus at 640pm yet the time came and went, but no lax to union station in sight. Around 7pm, a SECOND fly away bus from lax to van nuys came. I was told by that driver they’re hired by different companies.
I saw on the bus tracker that is says the bus is 0 min away, yet there was no bus. And it reset to 30 minutes.

When the bus finally came, it was almost completely full. We were lucky to get on, but some weren’t. The bus driver appeared stressed , kept asking “are u going to union station” like 3 times.

I want to support public transit but this is really making it difficult.
Need MORE lax to union buses, and ACCURATE and on time buses.

### 1/5 — TAP Payment not an option on App

*2024-09-25, version 7.8.23*

With the new crazy system they have in place, you will be waiting in line and hoping to get a spot on the bus, but if you haven’t got your ticket already, as they say, Jack you dead. But if you want to buy the tix online using your Tap card you can’t do that. This is messed up.

### 1/5 — Updated app

*2024-08-15, version 7.8.22*

The old app barely worked as it was, now new app doesn’t work at all. Thanks! Keep up the good work.

### 1/5 — ADA

*2024-07-24, version 7.8.22*

I use this service often & they are completely
DENYING ADA access.
The front 4 seats have a wider seat space & a ADA bar to assist with getting up & sitting down.
I’m 5’9 & just had extensive spine surgery in May.
I have to wear a large back brace & be very careful not to twist.
I needed one of the 4 seats but the driver refused to
Move 1 of the 4 orange construction cones.

THE 4 FRONT SEATS REMAINED EMPTY TO LAX
COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE !!!!!!

### 1/5 — No way to pay for parking

*2024-07-11, version 7.8.22*

Ok, so apparently I can but a bus ticket on this app. Where is parking?!? How do I reserve/pay for that?

### 1/5 — Don’t use the app — double charged me and they make it impossible to get the money back

*2024-06-13, version 7.8.21*

The bus itself is great. But this app, and the company that handle billing, are bad news. I tried to buy one ticket, but the app showed that the ticket sale did not go through. So I tried again and suddenly it shows I’ve bought 2 tickets. The app does not offer a way to cancel the 2nd ticket. I emailed the address provided and got no answer. A follow up phone call was an exercise in frustration and futility. Clearly they do everything they can to make it tough or impossible to get a refund. Too bad they are willing to burn bridges with customers over such small spoils (keeping money for a ticket that I did not want and that will never be used because it expires too soon!)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Activation problem

*2026-04-27, version 7.8.29*

This app is useful, but the ticket activation process is misleading. After entering my credit card, the app prompted me to “Activate Tickets,” which made it seem like a required step to complete the purchase. Once activated, I found out the ticket expires in 3 hours.

I immediately contacted customer service to deactivate it, but they said they have a strict no-refund policy and couldn’t reverse it. As a result, I lost $12.50 on a ticket I wasn’t ready to use.

The app would benefit from clearer warnings before activation and a more flexible refund policy. Be careful when using it so you don’t run into the same issue.

### 1/5 — ASK for where the bus is going

*2026-02-23, version 7.8.29*

You won’t be able to see the signs on the bus necessarily and the drivers won’t ask you where you’re going. I used this app to buy a ticket for Union station and then a bus pulled up as I got to the pick up. I didn’t see any indication of where it was going and didn’t know it would go elsewhere, I scanned my ticket and it accepted it. Didn’t think about it until we got to destination, nope, I’m in Van Nuys and now have to go all the way back to LAX and get on another bus to Union station or pay another $60 for an uber/lyft. MAYBE YOUR VAN NUYS BUS SHOULDNT ACCEPT UNION STATION TICKETS AND VICE VERSA. Maybe put a sign on the side of the bus? Maybe have your drivers ask where you’re going? Maybe a million things.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-01-28, version 7.8.29*

App charges you for your ticket but then says no ticket acquired yet it still takes your money what a joke lax

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-10-23, version 7.8.29*

Don’t buy tickets here. Customer service is also extremely rude.

### 1/5 — Terrible app. Doesn’t work.

*2025-09-30, version 7.8.29*

None of the features on the app work besides buying a ticket. Times are inaccurate. Tracking doesn’t work. Buses constantly late and most will skip you because they get too full at the first two terminals. Don’t bother with this service

### 1/5 — Fare

*2025-08-27, version 7.8.29*

In less than a year they raised the fare to a 100% this is ridiculous, if you're travelling by yourself this is fine but with your family I’d rather have someone drop me off at LAX much cheaperthat way.

### 1/5 — Simply doesn’t work

*2025-08-08, version 7.8.29*

Alright so let me start by saying I don’t travel often and when I do, I usually just do the economy parking. So I thought this was a nice option. the app itself works fine but when it came time to scan the active ticket, the scanner wouldn’t accept it. I moved it away from the scanner and hovered it and even had the driver help me until he gave up as well and just let me on. This exact process proceeded for the next 5 people until the driver gave up on the scanner entirely. Don’t know if this is an app or scanner problem but if there’s this bad a problem for the apps MAIN feature, maybe it needs reworking

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2025-07-20, version 7.8.29*

What’s the point of activating your ticket when you only have 2-3 hours to use it? It’s a bait and switch. Like a lot of users, I bought a round trip ticket to and from LAX and Union Station. On the app it even says you have 60 days to use the ticket. Great.

What they don’t tell you is once you activate it, you actually have less than three hours to use it. I’m sure many people have made the same mistake, and there’s no way to correct it!Even if you don’t use the ticket. Customerservice is nonexistent. As a visitor to LA, it makes me not want to use FlyAway ever again. What a racket!

### 1/5 — Why Do I Need an App to Board A Bus?

*2025-05-01, version 7.8.26*

Apparently customers must have this app to ride the LAX Flyaway bus. Why? There’s a sales kiosk right here at Union Station, attended by a service clerk. Why can’t the clerk just sell me a ticket? I don’t intend to ride this bus ever again, so why do I need to have this app on my phone? It will never again be useful to me.

Have we grown so accustomed to the ensh*tification of the digital world, that we must now also ruin the real world, too?

### 1/5 — Worst App Ever Do not use

*2025-03-06, version 7.8.26*

There is no warning before activating your ticket that states you have only 3 hours to use, so I purchased another one to print. I never received the pdf. Not on the phone, not in the app, not in the email. The absolute worst!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Clean and comfortable.

*2025-07-07, version 7.8.29*

Clean and comfortable. Service could be a lot quicker if the drivers had an extra person helping with luggage when loading at LAX. Perhaps a person or two that joined the bus and driver at first stop and rode with driver to 7th stop- helping passengers put luggage under bus while the driver monitored scanning in -and then walked back to stop 1 and did it again. 2 buses yesterday were full by stop 5 so all the people at 6/7 had to wait til next bus. Hopefully they did not fill up before their stop again.

### 5/5 — Worked Fine

*2024-09-17, version 7.8.23*

Easy to buy my tickets and scan them from my phone. A lot cheaper than Uber or Lyft from
LAX.

### 5/5 — Cool app!!

*2024-05-31, version 7.8.20*

Worked as described

### 5/5 — It works!

*2023-06-09, version 7.8.12*

The reviews scared me, but the app works just fine. First off, you have 30 days from purchase to use the ticket. Second, you have 3 hours to use the ticket after activating, which is a pretty straightforward button that comes with a warning. Scan your activated ticket as you enter the bus. Voilà! Maybe some previous folks/reviews had trouble during the app rollout? 🤷‍♂️

### 5/5 — Good

*2023-03-28, version 7.8.11*

Easy to make purchases and access tickets. Haven’t had a problem yet.

### 4/5 — Super useful and convenient

*2024-10-18, version 7.8.23*

Love the app and ability to buy tickets online and prior to trips.

I will say, it is not super intuitive and this can cause some anxiety especially for travelers (and older travelers who struggle with digital and technology things) but once you figure it out, write out instructions and save them like me for future use.

Super convenient and useful once you get the hang of it!

### 4/5 — Decent

*2024-05-10, version 7.8.20*

Flyaway has gotten me home safely several times. Buses are big and pretty safe. Never had an issue with payment as you can just pay when you get to the station. The apps however are complete dog****

### 4/5 — TAP card

*2023-11-07, version 7.8.12*

I use MTA fairly often and have the TAP app on my phone. It can be used on Flyaway without the restrictions. One catch, the reader on the bus cannot be used, one must go to the ticket booth to pay via TAP. The fare is the same.

Arrival at LAX suggestion: It’s a bit of a pain, but if you are at Terminals 5-7 and in the mood to stretch your legs, cross the parking garage and walk to Terminal 1 for the bus. I’ve been on the bus during peak periods and have seen it fill up by the Tom Bradley stop at T4.

Enjoy your flights, fellow travelers! And I agree, having to download an app to buy a ticket online does seem unnecessary.

### 4/5 — Flyaway is an essential service

*2023-08-14, version 7.8.12*

In a city that makes it incredibly out of reach to afford good transportation to and from LAX, Flyaway is so important. It’s a shame they stopped servicing Hollywood ever since Covid. It would continue to cut down on congestion at LAX if more areas are serviced.

### 3/5 — Need ticket accessibility

*2024-07-14, version 7.8.22*

I am a frequent traveler and never really had a negative experience on Flyaway. Unfortunately, July 2024 trip was my first. The new scanning ticket procedure is horribly delaying, unclear for many, leading to confusion even for young adults.

Traveling LAX, the majority of their adult lives, my now 70 yr old parents, would be lost and unable to access the new Flyaway’s system to travel. The pay-at-arrival option is a required need for our aging or tech-hindered population, who STILL PAY into this city’s economy.
