## What is LaZ Viz Audio Visualizer?

Make the music visible, and turn your iPhone or iPad into the retro audio display your stereo deserves.

LaZ Visual Audio Equalizer is now LaZ Viz Audio Visualizer. The name has changed; the free v2.0 upgrade brings more ways to see your music.

LaZ Viz listens through your device's microphone and turns the sound around you into dancing spectrum lights, moving needles, glowing waves and whole worlds that come alive with the music.

Version 2.0 brings rebuilt audio analysis, refreshed VU and McVU meters, native iPad layouts and layouts designed for iPhone Duo from day one.

Made for Duo:
Open, fold and rotate with layouts that follow the space available. VU meters can occupy separate fold regions. Phosphor keeps its round scope and controls within reach. Partially fold Duo in Jeep Beach for a dedicated JUMP panel alongside the scene.

Meet the new screens:
• Dairy Freefall: six evolving looks, including Light Tunnel, electric arcs, neon ropes, kaleidoscope, double helix and a pulsing logo vortex. Import your own logo from Photos or Files, choose its color mode and adjust transparency.
• Aftershock: a neon spectrum landscape beneath a synthwave sunset.
• Oceanic: rolling water, reflected light and interactive splashes.
• Jeep Beach: a pixel-art beach ride that bounces along with the music, framed by a nostalgic bedroom TV. Tune in, hit the beach and add a little extra jump.
• Block Monster: glossy stacks, falling peak caps and a city loft setting.
• Phosphor on iPad and iPhone Duo: a green-glowing oscilloscope with adjustable intensity, focus, gain and timebase.
• 2002: a second interactive car stereo, with four live displays, dolphin and racing animations, a folding faceplate, an ejectable CD and haptics on supported devices.

The originals are still here:
Classic Viz, Blue Da Ba Dee, Custom Viz, VU, McVU, Vox and the interactive 1995 stereo with eight presets, working controls, a moving CD, haptics on supported devices and hidden surprises. CHONK-O-VIZ turns the classic spectrum grids into oversized blocks. Custom Viz lets you choose the bottom, middle, top and falling peak colors.

The 1995 screen keeps its original LaZ EQ branding as a tribute to the fallen.

Make it feel right:
In portrait, open Settings to adjust Sensitivity, VU Drama, Jiggle and your colors. Try experimental Jeep Mode to tame wind, road noise, fans and other low rumble. Swipe between screens, use the portrait picker to jump to a favorite, and tap to embiggen. Keep the screen awake for long listening sessions.

Made for the music around you:
Put it beside a turntable, stream to a nearby AirPlay or Bluetooth speaker, or bring it to concerts, festivals, parties, DJ sets, garages and car meets.

Microphone access is required for live sound response. LaZ Viz visualizes audio rather than changing it. It cannot read protected audio inside other apps, and it does not work with CarPlay or music played through your device's own speakers. It is an entertainment app, not a professional analyzer or calibration tool.

Your microphone audio stays on your device. It is processed live, never recorded, saved or uploaded. The orange microphone dot is expected while the meters are active; capture stops when the app closes or enters the background. Optional major-update reminders are local and can be turned off anytime. Delivery depends on iOS background availability.

Already own version 1? Version 2.0 is a free upgrade. No subscription. No signup. No tracking. Just music you can see.

### 5/5 — Super cool!

*2026-09-24*

The old school Pioneer head unit was just what i needed when cruising on my 87 IROC Z Camaro with my slicked back hair blowing in the wind. 🤘🏼

**Developer response:** If you liked that, then you're going to love what LaZ Viz has in store for v2.0, dropping on October 23, 2026!

### 5/5 — Heckin’ Sweet

*2026-07-20*

The simplicity of this app is probably my favorite thing. No calibration required, just turn it on and go. Interface was intuitive without over explaining. Gorgeous and highly reactive visuals.

I know it’s not really a feature, but I sneezed near it once and it was fun to watch the analyzers max out. 😝

**Developer response:** Gesundheit.

### 5/5 — The visualizer I didn’t know I needed

*2026-07-19*

I’ve never had an audio visualizer and to be honest I didn’t know I needed one until I got this. If you’re looking for the best app to visualize sound, you’ve found it with the LaZ Visual Audio Equalizer.

**Developer response:** Thank you, stranger! I hope it becomes the Centaurpiece of your audio-visual setup.

### 5/5 — BEST EQ APP!

*2026-07-19*

This app is well-made and good-lookin! I can't wait to use it everyday!

**Developer response:** As one good-lookin' person to another, thank you for checking it out!

### 5/5 — Makes music fun to watch again!

*2026-07-18*

LaZ Visual Audio Equalizer is one of those rare apps that does exactly what it promises while also being far more entertaining than you expect. You simply place your iPhone near the music, and the app transforms the sound in the room into responsive spectrum bars, bouncing VU needles, colorful lights, and other live visual effects.

The variety is excellent. You can move between classic green-to-red equalizer bars, blue and purple displays, analog-style VU meters, VOX lights, custom colors, and a wonderfully nostalgic 1995-style car stereo. The retro stereo display is especially impressive, with working controls, multiple visualizers, presets, an animated startup sequence, and some fun surprises to discover.

There is also a surprising amount of customization. Sensitivity, movement, colors, VU behavior, larger spectrum blocks, and even a Jeep Mode for reducing interference from wind and road noise can all be adjusted. It works especially well beside a home stereo, record player, Bluetooth speaker, at a party, or anywhere else music is playing aloud.

What I appreciate most is how refreshingly straightforward it is. There is no account to create, no subscription, no recurring charge, and no tracking. The microphone audio is processed locally on the phone and is never recorded, saved, or uploaded. In an App Store filled with unnecessary subscriptions and data collection, that alone deserves recognition.

LaZ combines retro audio nostalgia with a clean modern iPhone experience. It is visually impressive, easy to use, thoughtfully designed, and genuinely fun. If you remember the glowing equalizers and bouncing meters on stereos from the 1980s and 1990s—or simply want to make today’s music more visually engaging—this app is absolutely worth downloading.

**Developer response:** Thanks—so much—for the incredibly—thorough review—it means—a lot!

### 5/5 — Nostalgia on Tap

*2026-07-17*

This really brings me back to listening to vinyl on my father’s stereo system in the 70s and 80s, the warm tones of analog and the glow of the meters. Exceptionally well done, simple, intuitive. A masterclass in apps that JUST. WORK. Thank you.

### 5/5 — A visual party!

*2026-07-16*

This app has turned my phone from dull to dancing, the visuals are so fun and give the sounds around mea visual pick me up. Love it, does exactly what it says it does.

**Developer response:** Glad you're loving the app, and we appreciate the kind review!
