## What is Lazro's Games?

Three games in one app: mahjong, chess where every capture is a fight, and an endless runner on snow.

Lazro is my Siberian husky. He is in all three: asleep on the rug behind the mahjong board, ringside at the chess fights, and the dog you play as in Zoomies.

No account, no sign-up, nothing to buy.

MAHJONG
Classic tiles. Endless boards. Match pairs of free tiles to clear the board. A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and one side is open.

- Levels never run out. They are generated as you play and get harder as you go.
- Every board can be finished. Each one is built backwards from a solved position, so a winning path exists before you see it.
- Rewind any mistake. Drag the timeline under the board to step back through your own moves, one at a time or many at once, then carry on from there. No lives, no penalties.
- A daily challenge. One board a day, the same deal for everyone, with a streak to keep.
- Nine board shapes, including the classic 144-tile turtle, or Surprise Me for a different one each level.
- Three tile sets: the traditional mahjong faces, sixteen animals, or tiles you draw yourself.
- Hints when you want one, a shuffle that keeps a stuck board solvable, and a zen mode that hides the timer and score.
- Lazro sleeps on the rug behind the table. He gets up now and then, wanders, and settles back down. He can never get in the way of a tile.

CHESS CLASH
Captures aren't taken. They're won. Move like chess. When one piece takes another, both drop into an arena and settle it in a real-time fight you play yourself.

- Win the fight and the square is yours. Lose it and your attacker dies on its own doorstep.
- Castling, en passant and promotion are all here. There is no check: nothing is forbidden and nothing is safe, and the game ends when a king actually dies.
- Two thumbs, two jobs against the computer: the left half blocks and dodges, the right half strikes. In two-player you get a half each.
- Blocks stop strikes. Heavies smash through blocks. Dodges beat heavies, and the miss is your free hit.
- Six fighters with their own specials. Wounds stay with a piece between fights, so a hurt king is worth hunting.
- Play the computer at easy, normal or hard, or hand the phone to a friend and fight on one screen.
- Lazro watches from ringside and howls at every knockout. He never fights, and he never gets hurt.
- These fights are violent and they draw blood. That is the one reason the whole app is rated 17+.

ZOOMIES
Run with Lazro. Don't stop. Three lanes of snow that bend away ahead of you. Swipe up to jump a ridge, down to duck a fallen log, left or right to go round a rock.

- Bones recruit a sled team. Each husky behind you takes one crash instead of ending the run, and a full team of three hooks up a sled.
- Nothing unfair reaches the track. Before a set of obstacles appears, the game proves there is a way through it from every lane.
- Twelve kinds of obstacle window, and it gets harder the further you go. A blizzard rolls in at 150 metres.
- While you run, the only control on screen is Pause. Nothing that ends your run sits under your thumb.
- Records for your furthest run and your best haul of bones.
- Nobody gets hurt. Lazro spins out in a burst of snow and stays on his feet.

YOUR PROGRESS IS SAFE
Your levels, streak, drawn tiles, saved games and records are kept in your own private iCloud, with no account and no sign-up. Delete the app or get a new phone and they come back with you. One switch turns it off, and the games play the same either way.

THE REST
- Free. No full-screen ads, ever.
- Nothing is collected about you. The only copy that leaves your phone goes to your own iCloud.
- No timers to beat and no lives to wait for.
- Every game works offline, on iPhone and iPad, portrait or landscape.
- Mahjong and Zoomies are gentle games. Chess Clash is the 17+ one.

Built for, and dedicated to, my best friend Lazro.

### 5/5 — Ground breaking

*2026-09-17*

I can’t win in chess as the AI bots continue to beat me before I even know how to fight back, however the games included are great.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.2.1 — 2026-09-26

Lazro here. A few fixes this time.

ZOOMIES
• One start screen. Tap Zoomies and you're on the track with me, ready to run. How to play is right there on the start card.
• The short freeze while the game got ready is gone.
• If your phone takes the graphics away and gives them back, one tap on Run starts the run. It used to take two.
• If the 3D graphics won't start, Zoomies now says so and tries again next time, instead of doing nothing.

CHESS CLASH
• The white pieces no longer have tiny dark dots along their edges.

MAHJONG
• The pause menu and the rewind bar fit properly at the largest text sizes.

Back to my nap.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-09-25

Lazro here. Lots of new stuff this time.

ZOOMIES
• Today's run: one track a day, the same for everyone, with a streak to keep.
• Missions: three goals at a time, each done in a single run. Finish them to move up in rank, from Pup to Trailbreaker.
• It gets harder the longer you last. The start is the same as before.
• The treats are real bones now.
• Smooth snow mounds, snow that falls all around you in the blizzard, and proper shadows. I cast one too.
• I look at you at the start, then turn and go. My team ducks and jumps with me now.
• The start screen never covers me, whichever way you hold your phone.
• Play starts faster, and the short freeze when the first obstacles showed up is gone.
• Pulling down Control Centre now pauses the run.
• Opening Settings mid-run no longer lets me run off on my own.

MAHJONG
• Tiles you can't take yet are dimmed, so the ones you can take stand out.
• Flower and season tiles now show which set they belong to. Any flower matches any flower, and any season matches any season.
• My bone was hiding under the table. It's on the rug now, where you can see it.
• Your daily streak no longer resets when your phone syncs with iCloud.

CHESS CLASH
• My ball is on the coffee table.
• The pieces are easier to tell apart, even on the far side of the board.
• A tap made just before your fighter is ready now always counts.
• The king's sword arm no longer covers my picture on his chest, and raised weapons no longer get cut off at the top.

THE WHOLE APP
• Text follows your iPhone's text size, up to the largest sizes.
• Menus slide away when you close them.
• My bowl has food in it now, and my bone is a proper bone colour.
• Leave the app and come back, and I'm still in 3D.
• A new icon: me a little higher, with a card behind the controller.

Back to my nap.

### 2.1.2 — 2026-09-18

Lazro here. You could not see your own health bar.

CHESS CLASH
• In a fight, both health bars were drawn behind the clock and the camera notch at the top of your phone. Yours, and the one you are fighting. I could see them from ringside. You could not.
• The pause button was up there too — which is also how you save a fight and leave it. It was never missing. It was behind the notch.
• All of it sits lower now. Pause is the button between the two health bars.
• The card before each fight tells you that button is there. Nothing on that screen ever said so.
• The control hints along the bottom were running under the home bar. Not any more.
• Turned sideways, the ? button is out of the notch too.

If your phone has no notch, nothing moved. There was nothing in the way.

### 2.1.1 — 2026-09-18

Small fixes, most of them about not losing what you have.

• If you only play Zoomies, your records are backed up now. The check for whether a phone had anything worth backing up listed every game except the newest one.
• A run you never played can no longer set your Zoomies record. Opening Settings from the pause menu and then "Show how to play" quietly un-paused the game underneath the instructions.
• Clearing your Zoomies or Chess Clash records now stays cleared. If you play on two devices, clearing them on one used to be quietly undone by the other.
• A backup made on a newer version of the app is no longer stripped by an older one.
• Finishing a how-to with no connection is remembered, so a new phone does not teach you the same game twice.
• A backup that is only Zoomies now says so, instead of describing itself as empty.
• Zoomies stops drawing when you leave it. Visiting it once kept a full 3D scene rendering on every other screen until you closed the app — your battery was paying for a screen nobody was looking at.
• The Zoomies how-to holds focus, so keyboard and VoiceOver players can no longer start a run from behind the instructions.

### 2.1.0 — 2026-09-17

Lazro here. I got my own game.

ZOOMIES
• I run, you steer. Three lanes of snow: swipe up over an ice ridge, down under a fallen log, left or right around a rock.
• Bones you pick up recruit my sled team. Every husky behind you takes one crash instead of ending the run, and three of us pull a sled.
• Nothing lands on the track until the game has proved you can get past it from any lane.
• Twelve kinds of obstacle window, and it gets harder the further you go. A blizzard rolls in at 150 metres.
• While you run, the only control on screen is Pause. Nothing that ends your run sits under your thumb.
• I crash like a cartoon. Nobody gets hurt.

THE REST OF THE APP
• A new icon: my face and a gamepad. It will not need redrawing when a fourth game turns up.
• One look across all three games, and a title that is easier to read.
• Mahjong tiles respond while you hold them, and a slow, deliberate tap counts now instead of being thrown away.
• A chess move happens when your finger lifts, not when it lands, so landing on the wrong square can be taken back.
• Losing your own piece no longer buzzes like you won something.
• The move timeline buzzes once per move while you drag it, and it is easier to grab.
• Reduce Motion means less motion, not less of everything: screens still cross-fade, they just do not slide.
• Every game tells VoiceOver what it is.
• "Delete all data" un-teaches all three games again, without needing a relaunch.
• My name no longer bumps into the Settings button on smaller phones.

Back to my nap.
