### 4/5 — Almost there

*2023-08-16*

A friend and I thought this up before we knew this existed. How great it would be to have an app that captured the perfect conditions and alerted us when they repeated? Unfortunately it’s not that easy. Even when things seem to be just like last time it’s not. Something is missing. I wish the interface was easier to navigate, like an apple product. Unfortunately I find it difficult to see and do anything useful with the app so I rarely use it.

**Developer response:** Hey nonyobusiness! Thanks a ton for the review - could you email me at nickp@lazysurfer.app? I'd love to try to dig in with you on what's missing!

### 4/5 — Great session tracker

*2023-08-05, version 1.36.45*

Love this app and the more I use it the better the predictions get. Love making notes about things that happened, stand out waves and whining surfed with.

### 4/5 — worth getting

*2023-07-15, version 1.36.45*

it’s pretty accurate, but the charts could be a little more simple. a but hard to look at, but VERY good

### 4/5 — Decent app

*2023-07-14, version 1.36.45*

Overall something I check but don’t use it to decide whether or not to go out to surf. I like to log my sessions but sometimes the wave height that is recorded for that day is not what the wave height actually was. Also the ratings are not the most accurate even on spots that I have a lot of sessions logged.

### 4/5 — very helpful

*2023-06-17, version 1.36.36*

i just got this app and it has been very helpful because it tells me when the surf is good and it is a good app to trust.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2022-08-06, version 1.35.90*

Lazy surfer is awesome! I enjoy how easy it is to view all the data I need!

### 5/5 — Great surfing app!

*2022-08-05, version 1.35.90*

I have a few different surfing apps downloaded onto my phone that always gets checked on the build up to a surf but Lazy Surfer is the go to app for these checks! The information is accurate, the notifications are nice and the more sessions I add the more the app learns what I like to surf; it gets better the more you use it!
Don’t go a day without checking it now

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-08-02, version 1.35.83*

As an advanced surfer this is my favorite app to use for tracking waves. It shows you an extremely detailed chart depicting the waves conditions for 2 days, otherwise you can pay 7.99 for a month long 16 day prediction.

### 5/5 — excellent app

*2022-07-26, version 1.35.81*

i love the app! absolutely the best app for new surfers i’m teaching my daughter to surf and have it on her tablet absolutely love it

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-07-25, version 1.35.81*

Great app for all beginners and advanced surfers. Great app to use for before and after session. A must need for surfers in the community.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2022-07-25, version 1.35.81*

Awesome App to store history and compare sessions between days on the water in different locations and keep track over time! Absolutely recommend!

### 4/5 — So far so good

*2022-07-25, version 1.35.81*

Just started using this app and so far so good. I feel it will have even more to offer in the future. Pin points your gps better then those other “well known” apps. Can’t wait to keep using this more and seeing where it goes from there. Hoping for some good Apple Watch intergrades.

### 5/5 — Great for personalizing!

*2022-07-25, version 1.35.81*

Im a beginner surfer so right now I’m just logging in all my sessions and really really like how detailed it is, and how it will be able to give me good breaks based on my ability- for instance, tomorrows gonna be quite flat so Surfline says it’s terrible, but I’m pumped to go out in the am and have it be quiet and just be able to practice on my foamy!

### 5/5 — Well executed and some great minds behind it all

*2022-07-24*

This app gives you more as you put in more! I love the idea of using data from your favorite sessions to predict the best days to surf your favorite spots. It has made it a lot easier for me to decide where to go, especially during swells that are pumping at several locations at once. Keep in mind, forecasting is difficult and just an “estimate” so it may not always be perfect. This app has always given me the best predictions tho

Also, you can tell how much Nick has poured into this app. He listens to feedback, is very responsive when I have issues, and is overall very dedicated to helping the surf community with this. 11/10 for all of his hard word!

**Developer response:** kook dodger! This means a ton to me, I really appreciate the kind words :)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not so lazy

*2025-01-10*

Seems like a lot of stuffing around to get it to work, I/m lazy enough not to worry about finishing this off

### 1/5 — Not a free trial!

*2024-04-06, version 1.36.58*

I signed up for a free 2 week trial, but was immediately charged for the monthly auto-renewal. Requested a refund, hopefully it will be honored.

### 1/5 — If you need this app to check your local spot. its not your local spot

*2023-06-02, version 1.36.36*

kooks nowadays think its
cool to ruin a good spot with phone apps and details about places no one other than the people who live close by should know. Here is the deal. if you need to check an app for your local surf spot. thats not your local surf spot. . and i said this on instagram and somehow got deleted. wonder how that happened. barnies.

### 1/5 — Great idea but doesn’t respond or work fast

*2022-09-08*

Nice idea but it’s so laggy between clicks that I never use it. Too bad I surf San Diego daily x10 years and would love to start using this as my surf report journal. I just don’t have the patience for the app to freaking load, and the lag/loading between clicks makes recording stuff a chore that I don’t need. Maybe they’ll make it work simpler and quicker? Lighter interface? Who knows. Until then Surfline shows me the Spots with the touch of a button, no lag, and is WAY more worth the money. The issues I have had are on a iPhone 13 pro max with T-Mobile at 5G in San Diego.

**Developer response:** Hey Hvdyjb! Sorry for the trouble! Thanks for letting me know what phone you're using. It's very strange - it's working very quickly and smoothly for me on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. If you're able to I'd really appreciate if you could email me at nickp@lazysurfer.app and I can sort this out for you. Thanks! - Nick

### 1/5 — Not a good replacement for Surfline

*2022-06-25, version 1.35.69*

I was excited to see a potential replacement for Surfline but this app isn’t it. Unintuitive UI. Limited “spots”. Not very user friendly in general. Too many features locked behind paywall. Surfline may have its problems but it’s much more straight forward and usable straight away. I’ll stick with SL.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-03-24, version 1.35.34*

Doesn’t let you see spot conditions unless you add a session

### 2/5 — Surf sessions don’t record

*2025-09-27, version 1.36.58*

The main reason I don’t upgrade to the paid subscription is that the sessions never log. I have sent countless reports but the issue has never been acknowledged or resolved. This didn’t happen last summer with the app so I’m not sure changed. Otherwise the layout is great and forecasts are helpful.

### 2/5 — Limited userbility

*2024-01-09*

Some good features. Pretty standard data though. Very limited to find data for specific beaches as it only shows your best bet (which is just geographically suggested) or pre programmed spots. Id prefer to be able to view data for all beaches and make my own decision. Not just data for a suggested location at 1 or 2 local beaches. The best bet bubble is annoying as it’s huge and in the way on the map. It can’t be removed.
And seriously, only in mph and feet?

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2022-07-14, version 1.35.69*

App freezes every time I try to save a new session. If I close out and reopen then 40% of the time it didn’t save and I have to start over.

### 2/5 — Too much work

*2022-04-29, version 1.35.45*

I’m too lazy to use this app, and the layout hurts my brain and my eyes.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-08-20, version 1.36.58*

I like how you can create your own spots with ease. My only suggestion is to be able to see all of your spots on a map. Maybe a map button on the bottom where you can see all your spots and see a preview of how it’s doing.

### 5/5 — Exact predictions on any spot

*2024-08-12, version 1.36.58*

This app is super accurate. I went to my local spot just to see how it compared and it was spot on

### 5/5 — Surfline but cheaper and better

*2024-07-06*

This app is great I just got into body boarding and finding a spot has been challenging there so much information that Surfline dose not have. It’s also really organized and easy to find your spots and the session tracking is definitely gonna help me because I can track my progress and write notes to know what to improve on overall w app and it’s $50 cheaper than Surfline. Overall l Surfline w lazy surfer

### 5/5 — Super Cool

*2024-06-12, version 1.36.58*

Super stoked about the app, so cool how it takes observations into account with raw data to know when a spot will work best for you. Can’t wait to see how it’ll evolve!

### 5/5 — Amazing !

*2023-07-25, version 1.36.45*

Great for surf reports and logging my sessions!

### 5/5 — Very Comprehensive

*2022-08-18, version 1.35.90*

I downloaded this app after I saw it on instagram and was happily surprised. I used to use surfline for everything but Lazy Surfer is way more detailed.

### 5/5 — It’s firing!

*2022-08-13, version 1.35.90*

Awesome app to tell wave forecast. Super simple to use and nice front end design!

### 5/5 — 👍

*2022-08-12, version 1.35.90*
