I love Lao PDR but unfortunately cannot use this app for my upcoming trip due to having a foreign (non-Lao) phone number, and will have to find another way to get tickets for the train. ### 1/5 — Terrible experience without Laos telephone number *2023-04-18* You use this app to sell tickets, but only Laos telephone number can register. Who can tell me how can a foreign tourist buy a ticket? The only positive point of this app is the user interfaces, compare to some relatively same app developed by CARA, this app looks okay. You assume everyone will have a Lao phone number to verify but that’s not the case. Why do you even need to verify? If the passport don’t match when checked then it’s not verified. I spent about half an hour trying to buy ticket, but app kept glitching at payment step ### 1/5 — No verification code *2026-01-03, version 2.1.101* Even with a Chinese number, it won’t send a verification code (at least not in Laos). Unusable. ### 1/5 — Too limited *2025-05-29, version 2.1.002* The payment methods are too limited to pay for tickets. They don’t seem to accept QR Codes or credit cards at the station either. LAK cash only. And what is it with the “security” at the station? This is unnecessary and creates the impression it is unsafe. I filed a dispute with Revolut and "merchant won". HOW? Do you have any proof that you sent me a ticket? NO - you don't. Scam app, primitive systems that charge people's cards without tickets. Avoid this app - better pay a bit more in person in ticket offices ### 1/5 — Ridiculous *2024-10-30* A joke of an app ### 1/5 — Cannot register *2024-01-10, version 1.0.030* Impossible to register with Thai phone number in early January 2024. So cannot buy ticket on the app. ### 1/5 — Worst business model ever! *2023-12-15, version 1.0.030* Imagine a world where you cannot buy a plane ticket more than 3 days in advance. Imagine if you cannot book hotels more than 3 days in advance. This is the LCR experience. Additionally, you can only book up to 2-3 tickets. This system only exists so you are forced to use “back door” deals for extra money, but good luck trying to do that unless you know someone and speak the language. ### 1/5 — Useless app, doesn’t work *2023-12-04, version 1.0.030* Considering the majority of passengers are foreigners, you would have thought they would allow foreigners to book. But no. Not even Thai mobile number works, even though it states it they do. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Works fine, need a Lao number *2025-04-05, version 2.1.002* It works just fine. You need a Lao phone number to sign il for an account, which would be the only dilemma I’d see anyone having, but the sims here are super cheap. You can grab a Unitel sim for as cheap as $4 or $15 that comes with a phone number. Adding the passenger information part was a bit confusing, but we worked through it. I booked a ticket from VTE to Luang Prabang with no issue the day before we planned to leave. Then, I booked a ticket back the day before we were going to leave without issue. Note that ticket sales are only open for a certain period of time. ### 5/5 — Register with your email/ works for foreigners *2024-06-07, version 2.0.006* PSA: this app works perfectly fine for foreigners. I am a US citizen and my wife is from Spain. I registered for an account using my email, LEAVE THE PHONE NUMBER BLANK. You can pay with a VISA CARD. We used REVOLUTE, zero problems. The app works great for searching for tickets and booking. Don’t overpay with a booking agency, your hotel, or other website. They all charge at least $10 more per ticket. Our tickets cost $7 and booking.com was charging $50 for the same trip. 12goasia charges around $18. ### 5/5 — Easy to Use *2024-05-10, version 2.0.005* Used as a british tourist. need to have a Lao phone number to set up. accepts Visa payment but no mastercard yet ### 5/5 — App works perfectly *2024-05-01, version 2.0.005* As long as you have a Lao phone number and a Visa payment card you’ll have no issues. ### 5/5 — Good *2023-04-24, version 1.0.022* As long as you have Visa card for payment and a Laos number it will work well. ### 5/5 — Works well for the domestic users *2023-04-13, version 1.0.021* As a newly launched beta version, this app certainly has much room to improve. But as a demanding person, I am glad at least now I I can use it and from it I can see an easier way of international traveling is coming. This is a just a start, in my children’s generation, this will make travel between Laos and its neighbor countries easier. ### 4/5 — Solid. Functional. Quality of life features could improve. *2024-02-24, version 2.0.002* If you are in Laos and looking to buy a train ticket today, this is the best option. Sign Up required me to leave some fields blank which seemed to trip some users up. I don't have a Laos number so I didn't give one. Worked fine. Searching train options is fairly simple and purchasing works well enough. Tickets were accepted with no problem and we got where we needed to go. Some things that would be nice that I've seen in other apps: Fields at sign up need optional indicators. When you pull up the QR code it should brighten the screen automatically. A place with live status of the train's location and the stations along the route (like a metro board) would be helpful. Using Apple Pay for payments so you don't need to type in your card details. The app icon colors should match the app UI colors. Makes it easier to find. ### 4/5 — Foreigners can buy on the app now *2023-05-06, version 1.0.022* Downloaded the app with little hope but was pleasantly surprised as it’s worked well. There are a few minor issues and quirks but once you get the hang of it all good. 1. You can only book 3 days in advance (sales start at 6.30am on the app) 2. You need a Laos telephone number to get the authentication code and ticket confirmations (only one person in a group of upto 5 needs this as you can add other passengers onto your profile) 3. Only Visa card for foreign transactions is accepted with a quirk. 3D secure is not accepted. Most cars now in Europe have two factor authentication when spending online with a new company. If you have a card that has this from the start it just won’t work. Try using different cards. I used Revolut (first transaction the didn’t ask for tow factor authentication and it worked) 4. Scan QR code on the app to get into the train station and while on the train. Not that tickets get sold out super quickly. Make sure to book in the morning 3 days in advance to secure tickets for the train you want. Trains are super nice, clean and second class is more than fine for most people. ### 2/5 — The whole system for LCR needs help *2024-11-25, version 2.0.007* We used this app in April 2024 to travel from Nateuy to Luang Prabang and from there to Vientiane. The first issue was you need a Lao, Thai, or China number. We had Thai e-sim but that didn’t work once we left the border vicinity to go to Nateuy so we had to borrow someone’s WiFi to access our tickets (that we luckily bought online near the border when Thai number worked). Got our ticket QR codes but then after waiting in line a long time we were told we needed paper tickets. Then had to wait at least an hour to get those because of dozens of people who didn’t even have tickets yet. Finally got them and made the train on time. In LP, bought tickets while on WiFi and took screenshots of QR codes. Went to the ticket office at the station to get paper tickets as before but later found out we could have used the QR codes. Good lord what a crazy mess this was but luckily made all the trains.
