### 4/5 — Se ocupa español

*2026-04-19, version 6.32*

Esta bien solo se ocupa la traducción

### 4/5 — Editing option

*2026-03-20*

I wish while you’re editing, that instead of getting a confirmation notification for each edit, that you could say don’t ask for the next five minutes.

### 2/5 — Battery draining

*2024-06-15, version 6.20*

Even after force closing the app is draining my battery. Fix this fast!!

### 2/5 — Alphabetical order COLLECTIONS!!!!!!

*2022-09-27*

How is it 2022 almost 2023 and all the files are not alphabetical order.
I have over 100 maps and takes forever to pick the correct one.
Also make it so we can call out way points in advance.

Once you go through all that it’s an ok program.
Once that is fixed I’ll pay for the high package.

**Developer response:** We can look at the organization of Collections. However, if you are keeping all your Collections in app to the point it’s hard to find what you need, this is not recommended.

All Collections should be backed up and organized, as you’d do with any GPS unit, to either a hard drive, computer or as most do through DropBox where you can organize your GPS files anyway you see fit. We do this by folders for areas, events, etc.

LEADNAV is an in the field GPS and we grab what we need from these storage options for a specific trip, save out any background map imagery for that trip, go on that trip, then we clean up the files and dump them into the cloud (Dropbox) or to our storage drives. We than completely scrub the app in preparation for the next trip if in a different location.

If you have that many files piled up in app and are not scrubbing your background map imagery after the trip prior to saving out for the next area, you will eventually stress the app and experience lag and possibly crashes as map imagery in multiple areas is trying to lay out in the background in multiple areas.

If you’re not backing up and organizing your Collections outside the app, and have as many files as you say you do, it is also not good to rely on the storage of all that work in app…if your app gets corrupted or you lose your device…they are gone.

“Waypoints” are audio visual pins within your Routes. These are given at 15 second out alerts based off speed. Assuming you mean “Markers”… these are simply points of interests around your area. If you need pre alerts be sure to add them as Waypoints into your Route.

Thank you for your feedback

### 4/5 — Pro licensing is unclear

*2021-11-14*

Wasn’t totally clear that the 5 seat license claimed by the PRO level licensing is through Apple’s account licensing so be aware that you have to have all of your devices tied to the same appleid in order to use them. Additionally, when the automatic download of apps put the app on my iPad (after I installed it first on my iPhone), it did not recognize the license even if I tried to restore purchases. This might be a bug or quirk with the app getting auto installed on the iPad before I purchased the license. Deleting the app from the iPad and installing it again seems to have fixed the issue in case others run into the same thing. FYI on this nuance for the developer and appreciate they responded to my initial review after a few days so I’ve revised my original post.

**Developer response:** This is Apple handled and subscriptions through Apple’s systems share between all of your devices that use your iTunes account. This way your subscription can share between your iPhone, iPad and any other device you own. There is no “time limit” on sharing these to your devices. It is handled and distributed as you update devices, get a new phone, buy another iPad, etc.

Not sure what “licensing” add-on you were expecting as again all sale and distribution is handled via Apple and through your iTunes account with them.

Pro subscriptions are priced for “you” and “your” devices, not multiple people with different iTunes accounts. Apple does not provide a distribution method for you to share your subscriptions with your buddies. Some of our race teams opt to buy “team” iPads that share one iTunes account. This is a loophole in Apples sale and distribution methods, not ours and the only way you can technically “share” a subscription.

Yes I run LEADNAV myself and have since 2014 but even with over 30,000 users and professionals utilizing LEADNAV, I do a pretty good job at answering any email sent to headquarters@leadnavsystems.com or through our contact page within 24-48 hours at the most… So if you have an issue with your subscription let me know!

### 4/5 — Excellent

*2021-10-02*

Great app if you’re the right user. I found it a bit difficult to get the hang of, but once you’ve got it this app is extremely useful and has tons of features. You can do a ton more with LeadNav than is possible with other gps apps. However, if all you want is something basic I wouldn’t recommend.

### 5/5 — Awesome!!

*2020-03-09*

I’ve used this app for well over a year for many things. Yes mapping things out can take some time, but for me that’s not an issue. Off road courses, and rescue plans and options, the fact i can coordinate with other units using this app and be able to see them as well is great. Being able to leave notes on destination or warming/ caution markers is awesome. All around love the app as well as my team loves to use it as well. I work rescue from a busy metro city all the way out to the middle of no where and this app had never left me not knowing where I’m going.

### 5/5 — Features Request

*2020-01-19, version 5.27*

The app is great.
Two features are needed:
- iCloud Sync
- Apple CarPlay Support

Thanks. Keep it up :)

### 3/5 — Anlık konum vermiyor

*2020-01-16, version 5.25*

### 2/5 — Was working great!

*2020-01-08, version 5.24*

The app was working great, but now I cannot open my tracks! The app shuts down!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Many issues, high cost, low value, look elsewhere

*2025-02-10*

Original review:

Among the many flaws of this overpriced app, that should have been addressed years ago, two of the most annoying ones are related to the renewal of your annual subscription and to the overall value of the subscription.
1. Annual renewal: You will be charged but the renewal will not appear on the app and none of the purchases will show as active. Using the “restore purchases” function does nothing in most cases. Over the years, as I renewed the subscription, I have had to delete the app completely from all my devices. This means that all files are deleted as well. You will need to do a fresh download of the app after which you will have to reupload all your files again. This process takes forever as there is no way to upload multiple files at once.

2. Value: the satellite maps were downgraded over the years from high resolution to low resolution maps as the developer switched map vendors. While the maps were downgraded, the cost not only did not go down it actually went up. The advanced package turned into nothing more than a low res off line maps download with no other features. It is outrageous that for the cost of the advanced package you get so little. You cannot even download off road maps along the route. You have to go tile by tile to download these low res maps. Comparing to other off road navigation apps, the cost is super high and the value is super questionable

App owner response:

“LEADNAV is the professional GPS interface that we needed and dedicated to our smaller group professionals”

What??? What does it even mean? Where is this statement in the app description prior to purchasing? Professionals at what?

Evidently the owner works with a small group of subscribers and is committed to making the group smaller, much smaller.

As far as the rest of the response goes: none of my other off road apps ever had any issues when the subscriptions renews but I guess it’s easy to put it on apple. Also, thanks for advising me to backup my files, seriously???

The downgrade in maps’ quality is mentioned in other reviews.

**Developer response:** Sorry you are unhappy with subscription handling and/or the costs.

All subscriptions are handled via Apple and your Apple account and all subscriptions and activations are shown on your device under subscriptions under your account, under device Settings. This is where Apple shows and handles everything you have active.

I am aware of the Restore issues but as we are limited to requiring Apple to handle all subscription and activations, this has been an ongoing issue as we also allow our teams and groups to spread a single subscription across many devices.

Once activated on each device initially though, it will renew fine through Apples servers…but yes it has been an ongoing battle so hopefully we can improve it more.

However, backing up all Collections and GPS files outside each device to somewhere like DropBox is highly advised and only importing what you need for a trip. Like any GPS unit it is good practice to backup and store your GPS files off the device and bring in only what you need.

Mapping has not diminished whatsoever…as ESRI World Imagery is well beyond and a big upgrade from what we ran in the past. It’s what we established and utilize in the military. So I am not sure what you are looking at there but you also still have Custom URL input available which essentially allows you to utilize any map type in the world…

We, unlike every other trail app out there, do not cloud collect, store or make a living selling your data… LEADNAV is the professional GPS interface that we needed and dedicated to our smaller group professionals. Without selling your data like these others out there…it is priced well below where it needs to be for me to single handedly maintain such a capability as a professional GPS unit interface for these groups.

Appreciate your use over the years and feedback

Thank you
Damian

### 1/5 — Waste of $19.99

*2021-06-05, version 6.9*

We bought this app on recommendation from a company we rented a doonbuggy from for a ride in the desert. We were told it worked on satellite so even if we lost cell reception the app would still guide our way. We followed the map for 1hr into the Sonoran desert when we lost the signal. At this point we were without Satellite GPS, we had no cell service and were completely lost in the middle of the desert in 104 degree heat. Our only option was to retrace our path and find our way back to the main road as we had not passed a single person on our entire journey. To say this app was more than a waste of $20 is an understatement!! The stress we experienced on this excursion is beyond ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Too much money!

*2020-11-28, version 6.5.3*

I have been using lead nav for years and loved it. Now they want $250 for off line maps! Nope.

### 1/5 — Bait & Switch

*2020-08-15*

I paid the $20 to be able to upload my own GPX maps and now they’ve taken that ability away and want $250 per year to be able to do what I originally paid for. Not cool. I will be seeking a refund.

**Developer response:** GPX is a standard GPS file type and still what we use and available with the core $20 application... It is what all of our files and Collections are built from. Nothing was taken away...So not sure what you are talking about but there is obviously some confusion.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2020-06-13, version 6.5*

Arabic speakers have the right to benefit from this application, as well as how the companies do not want to add the Arabic language to the languages used in their services, even though your service is not free, but you pay money and we do not find our Arabic language.

### 1/5 — All My maps it’s missing!!

*2020-05-30, version 6.5*

Beware everyone from downloading this program! Where the problem lies with the application itself .. Imagine after I bought the program for a year and I carried over a thousand sites to use it in the desert so the application requested to update the copy I have and agreed to update ... Yes, about a thousand maps went! And as if I started again! Ok where did you go my maps that I downloaded ... so I deleted the entire application from my device ... I wanted to tell everyone so that no one else can fall into this problem that I fell into.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-05-21, version 6.0*

$20 is the introductory drug dealer price. $70-250 per year subscription needed if you want to use it as something better than the free Apple Maps app that comes with your phone.

Speaking of Apple Maps: at least that’s accurate. In Maps, the location is accurate to the point I can tell what room I’m in...

In LeadNav, apparently I’m in a field 5.4 miles away.

I want my money back.

### 1/5 — Priced to deletion.

*2019-12-01, version 5.21*

I used this app for a few years and really enjoyed utilizing my own uploaded maps, until my subscription expired. Now to use map overlays I need to spend $250, no thanks.

### 5/5 — Off-road racing

*2026-03-05*

This application is a game changer and we have been using it for many years in Off-road Racing. Being able to drop a waypoint and voice text what we want it to say makes pre-running way more effective while allowing us to race faster, knowing that we have detailed Way points talking to us along the entire course!

### 5/5 — The One and Only

*2025-10-27, version 6.31*

Continues to be an exceptional app race after race in Baja.

### 5/5 — Simple & Powerful

*2025-06-03*

This platform has been my go-to for years now. Plenty of tutorials that show how to create routes on Google Earth, convert those routes, and import them into LeadNav. You get a lot for the basic app, with plenty of added conveniences with the upgraded versions that make route editing fast.

### 5/5 — Awesome App!

*2025-05-27*

This app has been awesome to use for off-roading but also for other outdoor adventures!

### 5/5 — Best Off Road GPS app

Running this app for baja racing and it is incredibly amazing. Best there isz

### 5/5 — The BEST navigation app!

*2024-04-18*

LeadNav is the ultimate iOS gps app. Nothing from Racing in Baja to the weekender UTV guy in the desert. The versatility and in app upgrades set it apart, if you are serious about you mapping and navigating offroad this is the ONLY app you need.

### 5/5 — Idioma

*2023-03-14, version 6.13*

Para cuando en español ?

### 5/5 — Invaluable tool!

*2022-10-29*

I’ve been using LeadNav for about 4 years now and it’s become an indispensable asset for off-road racing and navigation. While many seem to have jumped on the bandwagon of new apps because of their baked in routes, it’s nowhere near the functionality of LeadNav. I love the route creation feature and the audio cues are a complete game changer for me as a moto racer. Keep up the good work Damien!

### 5/5 — Truly impressive software capabilities

*2022-05-02*

I bought a military humvee from the gov auction…like an idiot. It showed up new and so incredibly awesome. I have no experience and no experience, also I don’t know what I am doing. But this machine is so capable it just takes me everywhere. I am too wide for the UTV trails so I get caught in washes and slot canyons. I needed something and started digging around. This software is not only preferred by the hardcore racing teams I know, my new fabricator uses it on his toys, but surprising I was in contact with another gps system developer that uses the same GPS puck thing and they admitted LEADNAV has really provided the best option for in the field off-road route acquisition. It’s insane how even more capable I am now. I had to buy an iPad and learn from level zero, even just simple iPad buttons, but this system has completely changed my quality life. With this software now, We can leave from the house and search out historical landmarks, from plane wrecks to mines, to public hunting cabins. We can load up the kids to search out wildlife tanks, desert springs, Native American grinding pots that I had no idea were all within a 2 hour radius and plan the route in my new humvee to get there.

So easy it’s actually fun to do. Lots of online training available, but you could figure it out on your own. AND I have reached out to the developer and received personal replies answering my question fully and guiding me to a more efficient tip, which he didn’t need to do.

If you don’t have this software you are doing it wrong. I need to screen shot my master map with like 100 markers and 20 routes that reaches about 50 mile radius. This is a mush have for anyone camping or off-roading. You have no idea what cool stuff is just around the corner. And you can import all the other app trails and overlay them on these maps. This is a game changer. And once set up you don,t need a signal. On a side note: A camping iPad was not really a priority of mine, but now that I have it, I am not mad about that either. It runs my lights and dash cam. Runs my offline stereo library. Has a few movies for road trips or the 3 and 5 yr old to do puzzles on while in the RV. Cant do that on a garmin or fish finder thingy which I also looked into. I bought it for this software but really everything is better once I committed to LEADNAV.

### 5/5 — Wouldn’t Race without this app

*2020-05-25*

I’m a co driver for KOH, BITD, and SCORE and this is the only GPS system I use. Easy to use and mark hazards and VCP’s. If you are racing this is a must use. Plus every time I’ve had a question it get answer pretty quick via Instagram. Thank you keep up the great work!
