## What is Leaf | Discreet Drink Tracker?

Leaf keeps an honest record of what you drink, in UK units, so you can see how a week actually went rather than how it felt on Sunday morning.

Logging takes a couple of taps. Pick from a starter list of everyday drinks, from pints and large glasses of wine to G&Ts, cans, hard seltzers and alcohol-free beer, or add your own with its size, strength, price and calories. Leaf works out the units. If you're out and only remember the next day, you can add drinks to any earlier day.

SET A DAILY BUDGET
Choose how many units a day feels right for you, and Leaf shows how each day compares. Setup puts the budget in familiar terms, so three units means something you can picture rather than an abstract number. The calendar colours each day by whether you stayed under, so a heavy run of weekends is easy to spot.

SEE THE PATTERN
Reports show your weekly trend over four or twelve weeks, which drinks make up most of your units, which days of the week tend to be heaviest, and an estimate of what you spent and the calories you drank. Month, year and all-time views give you the longer picture, and Leaf is upfront about days you didn't log instead of quietly treating them as zero.

STOPPED DRINKING?
Switch Leaf to sober tracking and it counts the time since your last drink, with an estimate of the money you've saved and the units you've avoided. You can move between drinking and sober tracking whenever your plans change.

FROM YOUR HOME SCREEN
The widget shows today's total and logs your most recent drink without opening the app. In sober tracking it counts the days since you stopped.

GENTLE NUDGES
Optional reminders prompt you to log your day, alongside monthly challenges and support messages. Turn each one on or off in Settings.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
There's no account to create. Your diary is stored on your iPhone, and you can export it as CSV files whenever you like.

ALREADY USE LEAF?
This update keeps every drink, day and setting you've already recorded.

UNITS THE NHS WAY
The NHS advises not regularly drinking more than 14 units a week, spread over three or more days, with several drink-free days if you want to cut down. Leaf counts UK units the same way the NHS does, so your weekly total in Reports compares directly with that guideline.

Leaf is not a medical service. If you're worried about your drinking, your GP is a good place to start, or you can call Drinkline free and in confidence on 0300 123 1110 (weekdays 9am to 8pm, weekends 11am to 4pm). The NHS website also lists local alcohol support services near you.

### 3/5 — Needs more features

*2021-04-27, version 1.0.6*

I’ve been entering my drinks in the Leaf app for almost FOUR YEARS now.

The positive is that it’s easy to use - I don’t know if I’ve maintained any kind of good habit electronically for that long.

The frustration for me now is that there is a lot of data in there about my drinking habits that isn’t being used. The app needs to step it up a level by having some graphs or something so I can compare the months and years. This would be really interesting and I think would help give me goals Eg April is a big drinking month (birthdays, easter and other holidays). Would be interesting to know my average April drink amount and try and reduce that number. Did I drink less in 2019 than 2020? Would be great if the app could tell me!

### 3/5 — Good drink app

*2020-10-26, version 1.0.6*

I used to use NHS Tracker but this does not work on iPhone 6 with iOS 8. This is better but the reports were nearly always blank even though the numbers are there. Thanks for fixing this. Another bug is when travelling from UK to USA the time/day gets overlapping/confused. Please fix this then it will get better reviews.

Update - they fixed the date but like other reviewers the date on the calendar is correct and putting in drinks are on the correct date. However when reviewing drinks over the last week it is one day advanced so drinking is for example completed for Friday when only up to Thursday input! Please fix this. Also average units for the week as well as per drink day would be helpful. Otherwise it is good.

New update - it locks up on IOS13. Can you fix this!

UPDATE - it no longer works properly in iOS14.1 as you can’t put in data a few days ago or even review it!

### 3/5 — Link to action for change corrupted

*2020-05-16, version 1.0.6*

The app is useful but when I click the link at the bottom to take me to action for change it takes me to a chinese website with chinese text and it is not secure. Can this be fixed?

### 2/5 — Too complicated, too many steps

*2019-07-10*

This app is such a pain. It calculates units based on percentage of alcohol and milliliters of alcohol, so you need to do all kinds of calculating to figure out calories and percentages and volumes and everything just to enter one drink. If I were drunk I just wouldn’t bother. I just wanted an app that counts my drinks and this is not it.

### 3/5 — Great app but Reports still off

*2019-05-27, version 1.0.6*

I think this app is great and keeps it simple. But the dates are still off on the reports. It’s a little frustrating.

### 1/5 — Insulted by an app?

*2018-12-19, version 1.0.6*

Great concept and description. Thought it would be useful to have a little side help as alcohol decreases your judgement so something to track and give you the facts as you go may be better than your brain on alcohol. However; App falls short in many ways. Very basic, insinuated I had a problem from the get go-without even adding anything into the calendar. Wanted to set a goal or figure out what limit on a night out should be and simply told me to slow down and take a break. All of this within 3 minutes of downloading and looking at the drink tab.

### 2/5 — Bugs need fixing

*2018-12-01*

I liked this app until it stopped working. Days changed color and wouldn’t track any drinks, so the app was then useless.

### 1/5 — This is no use

*2018-11-05, version 1.0.6*

I can’t get it to syncretise across devices so end up double handling entries.

I’m deleting it.

### 5/5 — Easy, simple, and well-designed

*2018-06-26*

This is the best sobriety app I’ve tried. It has a user-friendly layout, simple and intuitive graphics, a tracking system that’s easy to maintain, and the app icon itself is discreet.

### 1/5 — Sketchy

*2018-05-18, version 1.0.6*

Still puts the data onto the wrong day in the charts. Pretty weak.

Leaf has been completely rebuilt for the latest iOS. Your history moves across on first launch, so every drink, day and setting is still there.

What's changed:
• A new diary. Swipe between days, tap a drink to see when you had it, and swipe to remove one you logged by mistake.
• Reports now include your weekly trend, a breakdown of which drinks make up your units, and your average by day of the week.
• Sober tracking, if you've stopped. Leaf counts time since your last drink, and estimates the money you've saved and the units you've avoided.
• A Home Screen widget that shows today's total and logs your latest drink in one tap, or counts your days if you've stopped.
• New drink icons, plus starter drinks that reflect how people drink now, including cans, hard seltzer, alcohol-free beer and a bottle of wine. Starter prices have been updated too. Drinks you've already added keep your own prices.
