## What is Lean Assessment/Overview Rpt?

Lean Assessment and Overview determines critical areas for organizational and process improvement. This app provides fundamental information on Lean and Six Sigma, what is required for a Lean Sigma transformation, the importance of a Lean Assessment with the ability to add default audit statements (or add your own and score each statement on a scale of 1 to 5 displayed on a dynamic Radar Chart), text, and images in each category in a standardized, customizable, and sharable format on the cloud. The Lean Sigma Roadmap steps will be detailed with over 30 tools/topics in the 4-phase approach to a successful transformation. 

The Dynamic Kanban Action Item Board allows Action Items to be visually managed using 4 “buckets” of To Do, In Progress, In Review, and Done allowing for Assignor to track progress by a simple drag and drop function to each bucket.  Emails are automatically sent to Assignee(s) for all Action Items.

The 4 buckets functions as follows:

To Do – The Assignor will create the Action Item and reside there until the Assignee receives the email notification and acknowledges receipt to the Assignor via email or text.  The Assignor then moves it to In Progress.
In Progress – The Assignee will work on the Action Item and once completed notify the Assignor.  The Assignor then moves it to In Review.
In Review – The Assignor will ensure the Action Item is completed and move it to Done, or if not completed, make comments and move it back to In Progress, and subsequently notify the Assignee.
Done – The Assignor moves the Action Item to Done once they are satisfied that it has been fully completed.  

Beyond educational purposes, this app provides suggested areas and activities for a customizable and standardized use of a Lean Assessment report and Action Item tracking.

I found this app very useful as we establish a baseline on which to measure, track, and improve critical areas of our organization. Default categories (or critical areas) of Leadership, Customer Focus, Process Management, Staff/Employee Management, and Information/Analysis are provided, each with a list of default statements on which to select and assign a number from 1 – Strongly Agree to 5 – Strongly Agree. All scores are plotted on a Radar Chart. A PDF report with the Radar Chart, statements, scores, Action Items, and Notes can be exported and subsequently emailed. There is also the option to create your own categories and statements.

There is a ton of content in the Learnings section of this app, called the Lean Sigma Roadmap. This Roadmap has a significant amount of information from Managing Change, 5S – basically all the Lean tools - as well as guidance in their application. It’s a book in itself!

We plan on conducting our customized, standardized Assessment every 6 months, and depending on the gaps identified on the Radar Chart, assign responsibilities. We recently gathered as our core management group for our first Management Development Assessment meeting to gain consensus on each of the critical areas and statements. Everyone agreed that this was a very good start and tool to use going forward. Very solid! Looking forward to using other apps in this series!
