Waste Walk is the observation and investigation of processes/areas to identify waste. This app provides fundamental information on the 12 wastes, steps on how to conduct a Waste Walk, and the ability to document current wastes by adding text and images as necessary for each waste identified in a standardized, customizable, and sharable format on the cloud. Engaging or leading questions will be provided to help DETECT wastes as well as suggestions on how to ELIMINATE those wastes. Wastes initially can be classified as an Uncategorized Waste and at any time be updated to a specific type of waste. The Dynamic Kanban Action Item Board allows Action Items to be visually managed using 4 “buckets” of To Do, In Progress, In Review, and Done allowing for Assignor to track progress by a simple drag and drop function to each bucket. Emails are automatically sent to Assignee(s) for all Action Items. The 4 buckets functions as follows: To Do – The Assignor will create the Action Item and reside there until the Assignee receives the email notification and acknowledges receipt to the Assignor via email or text. The Assignor then moves it to In Progress. In Progress – The Assignee will work on the Action Item and once completed notify the Assignor. The Assignor then moves it to In Review. In Review – The Assignor will ensure the Action Item is completed and move it to Done, or if not completed, make comments and move it back to In Progress, and subsequently notify the Assignee. Done – The Assignor moves the Action Item to Done once they are satisfied that it has been fully completed. Beyond educational purposes, this app provides suggested activities for creating a customizable and standardized use of a Waste Walk report and Action Item tracking. This app features: An overview (Learnings) of the 12 wastes. A standardized approach and application of the Waste Walk Report. Access to case studies and Sensei tips for further understanding. Access to the Waste Walk tool/report in how to detect this waste, examples of this waste, and suggestions on how to eliminate this waste. Add images and text in wastes identified. Over the past several years I’ve purchased other apps, more Six Sigma related, but they were mostly content and exams. This app provides a practical approach (and functionality) with adequate content/learning to identify and document wastes on my phone. Identifying (and eliminating) waste is a fundamental activity every employee should be involved in. The app introduces 12 wastes, but I focused on the original 8. All wastes are clearly defined with leading questions to assist in identifying the waste. I feel this app is a fundamental tool upon which to build from.
