That is, the teacher doesn’t go into mouthpiece placement for optimal pitch. ### 2/5 — Pretty expensive for learning the clarinet *2025-05-24* So, I play clarinet in seventh grade band and I’m like oh it’ll be good if I get this app to learn and their are a lot of good reviews right. So it must be good. So I have my first lesson and it’s awesome but then I can’t do anything else because you would have to pay for premium and it’s super expensive and I’m like ok maybe the song library is free at least but you have to pay too so then I go to leaderboard to play music and I can but it’s a whole bunch of notes they haven’t taught you yet and then I can’t learn those notes because I have to pay. I’m a grade 8 player and have a performance degree and teaching diploma in my other instrument so I know my notes and rhythm were correct and the app would only give me around 80% accuracy, it wasn’t great at recognising the same note multiple times or my open G which is slightly flat but still closer to a G than an F# (a common issue in clarinets so we often cover the tone holes with the right hand which I did). A beginner clarinetist isn’t going to have a perfect tuning or tonguing ability so can’t help but feel this would be disheartening. I need $39.99 but I do not have that amount of money so I cannot play the clarinet with these songs, I was really looking forward to this, and I am very upset about how I can’t play the clarinet now, the lessons that you learn at school and learn unless you are willing to spend that amount of money for these songs then yes this is perfect for you.
