The layout is old and dated. I’ve played her words etc and she says they sound correct. A few things she says are not right or not how she would say them, still a decent app. ### 4/5 — Awesome app! *2016-11-03* Perfect for any beginner who wants to learn Croatian. Shows you how to pronounciate the different expressions and the flash cards are really helpful! However, sometimes the voice recording goes a little too fast... maybe an option to go word by word? Wished that they had a section that showed you how to pronounce the individual letters and gave rules on how to properly pronounce them so that you could sound words out yourself then check to see if you got it right. What happened to all the pictures and why do I have to download the courses? I did not have this problem before the update. The update says the app is smaller and faster to start up but I had no problem with the speed of the app startup. Visually appealing. Not actually perfect but deafly professional. Good flash card ability, which for me is basically the most fundamental way to add vocabulary. BUT one key point. To make this app's flash cards worthwhile, you need to change the settings so that it does not only quiz you on what the Croatian word means. So, to make it also show cards that ask you to provide the Croatian word. To configure that, inside the app go to more, settings, flash card settings, and make sure that BOTH Native and English are on. I don't know if this app would be the tool to truly advance further in a language, but for kicking off the language learning process I recommend this. I may upgrade to the 10 dollar version if it keeps being this good. ### 5/5 — Great App To Help Learn Croatian *2014-12-28* I have been using this app to help me with the regular words that my Croatian fiends and family use. Thanks to this app I'm getting better but it takes some time. It has several misinterpretations of croatian meanings. When contacted for suggested corrections they answer in an automatic standard response. But the corrections are not ever done. There is not either updates for vocabulary to address such a mistake. Paid for the full version, which gives you access to more words but the sound files don't always match the written word. You will be asked as an 'in app purchase' to do so for $9.99. I did and it is the first app I have ever been disappointed with. Many of the words are not present and it just says "new" - with no translation showing. Also many words have no audible translation available. Waste of time and money. Also - you can not use this on other IOS devices like your iPhone if you download to your iPad - it is ONLY available in one location on the device you download to! No iCloud sharing. ### 1/5 — What's the Croatian for 'don't bother'? *2011-09-02, version 3.1.1* The first word I was given was 'toolbox'. When that was followed by 'noun' and 'toothpick' I lost the will to continue. Also, the audio didn't always work. Later on, many phrases were clearly wrong. 'New' for 'Central America' for example. Also, the new word doesn't appear unless your phone is switched on ... And as my word tended to appear at midnight, I wanted to turn it off. App deleted. Suggest you forget this time waster ### 1/5 — I wouldn't bother *2009-12-05* yes it gives you a word a day as it says, but the most useless words you can imagine. e.g instead of "how are you?" or "my name is..." Some of the words and phrases in my word bank are: Floatation device Contraband Report Office worker To Take a Picture Not a great place to start if you are wanting to learn the language, maybe it could be useful if you were simply wanting to expand you knowlegde. ### 2/5 — Not bad. Die vielen Kategorien ermöglichen auch ungeübte sich schnell in die Sprache einzufinden. Spielerisch erlangt man damit die Fähigkeiten eigene Sätze zu bilden. Die Qualität der gesprochenen Sätze sind TOP! Würde ich so immer wieder erhunterladen. Auch die Light-Version ist gut!
