I did the free trial because some web sites gave it great reviews. Now I believe it’s because Mondly paid for those reviews. Mondly is more like a glorified phrase book and not a good one at that. I’ve been using Duolingo along with Busuu for a year and these two apps compliment each other very well. Duolingo is better at sentence structure and word order and Busuu I’d better for the grammar to understand the above plus pronunciation. Busuu lessons are also corrected by native speakers. The problems I found with Mondly is it’s riddled with errors. The German voice doesn’t always match the text. Some of the translations given are inaccurate. The app expects you to tell the difference between a lowercase L (l ) and a capital I. Guess wrong and it counts against you. I didn’t find that the lesson built on each other but were rather random. There is no grammar given so it’s up to you figure out why articles and verbs change. Good luck with that. Chat bot was interesting. Have a conversation with a bot as long as you use one of the responses given for you to use. Make up your own and the bot doesn’t understand and won’t continue unless you use a response from the list. I have been learning German intensively for about 9 months and have reached the top of CFER A1.1 using another program and other materials. I have just completed a 7 day free trial on Mondly in order to have a look at the subscription features. Mondly is OK but I wouldn’t recommend it. Some of the language and translations given are sloppy and some downright wrong. However, if you are a visual learner Mondly might be good. As with many of these mobile programs there is no teaching - the learner is just pitched in and has to figure it out for themselves. The structure of the language doesn’t come through. However, when you’re ready to cancel, it’s almost impossible to find how to do that on the app. And you will get automatically billed even if you don’t authorize it. When I clicked on it to "subscribe" it told me i've already subscribed, yet it still wouldn't allow me to use it. £10 i paid nearly a week ago and I haven't been able to use it. There's no excuse to not allow me to use it after subscribing. Even when you choose an “Advanced” level it starts your lessons with words like “flower” and “garden”. Also, the idiosyncrasies of the various languages are not captured, for example, the importance of the articles in German. ### 1/5 — Felt cheated *2021-03-31, version 7.1.13* I pressed on the £3.99 tab so I thought I was going to pay £3.99 a month but instead they took the whole £47.99 in one go with out any chance to cancel.
