With so many free tools available today, this really feels like an app for people who value convenience over saving money. If they ever dropped the price to around $50 for a LIFETIME plan, I’d probably consider it. I just paid $45 for lifetime access to Todaii German, so just know that inexpensive apps do exist! And if Readle ever goes on sale, I might get the version with all languages, not the individual apps. ### 4/5 — Immersion Experience *2026-02-19, version 4.7.0* This is a great way to immerse yourself in German. It has plenty of useful features. I wish the quizzes were a bit more in depth and also had variety to them. Bryant ### 4/5 — Great App *2025-12-03, version 4.6.1* Few adds and I like that the App will let you listen to the Stories and read the Translations ### 3/5 — Decent Training but with an iPad Glitch *2025-11-20, version 4.6.1* It’s a very nice way to improve German reading skills for A1-C. The vocabulary trainer is also quite good with one glaring problem. As you accumulate words to practice, you’ll place them in categories reflecting how well you know each word. The glitch is triggered if you’re reviewing a category of, say, ‘Good’ words, meaning that you feel close to having them memorized, and you decide to go read another short story. You cannot exit the word training without finishing all the words in the category you are in. So, if you have 50 ‘Good’ words you’re practicing and decide after doing 15, that you’d like to exit and read some stories, the app will not let that happen until you’ve reviewed all 50 words. However, I would like to see verb conjugations available too. I am not learning this properly in this app. ### 3/5 — Good ideas, weak content *2025-08-13, version 4.5.1* Readle has some nice features for improving German reading skills. The ability to tap on a word and see the definition is nice. The articles are weak, though. One was an obvious translation from English. It talked about money in dollars for no good reason. Others had implausible claims. It would be much easier than going back to the homepage and then choose another stories to read. But, nowadays without proper voice recognition and evaluation of speech app feels obsolete and useless. Best, Selin ### 1/5 — Cancelled my trial subscription, but they charged me *2023-12-06* I downloaded this app, or tried to, on a Black Friday sale. The purchase did not go through so I tried again the next day. They charged me the full price. I wrote to Readle to explain what happened. They said, Sorry, we can’t help. So I cancelled my trial subscription on my phone because I didn’t think the app was worth that price. I had already downloaded the app on a second device as well, believing that I could use the same trial on two devices. I guess not because they charged me the full subscription price on the second device even though I had stopped using it and only sent me an email saying my account had been charged. Meanwhile, on my phone it clearly states the subscription was cancelled. Warning: don’t try to use the app across devices! **Developer response:** Hello, my name is Chris and I am the co-founder of this App. Your case was just escalated to me. First of all, we'd like to understand what the problem is and would love to help. After reading the review, it appears that you started a 7-day trial with two different iOS accounts and only cancelled one them. As a result, you'd be naturally charged after 7 days for one of these accounts. However, you are always able to use the app across iOS devices though, given you are using the same iCloud account for both devices. Users can hear and read simultaneously, which teachers recommend doing 10 minutes per day. The most helpful feature is the ability to tap on words to learn their meaning. Not only will Readle show the meaning, but also the declination and article gender. The brief grammar explanation for each story is also incredibly helpful. All stories, quizzes, and grammar explanations are bite-sized - nothing overwhelming. ### 5/5 — Enjoy *2026-06-13, version 4.7.3* I am enjoying Readle.
