### 4/5 — Good, few bugs

*2025-10-16, version 1.1.7*

Mr. Tanaka is not 30 years old is missing the janai in the list and the app accepted the answer without it. Feedback form send button disabled, so I can't send that way.

Good app overall, though some of the pronunciations are spoken by the robot in a broken way, it brought me through the basics well. Better than most apps. I did purchase for lesson 1 and 2.

### 3/5 — Kana / Romaji

*2025-04-13*

When i turn on „Speak, Read & Write“ and „I already know the Kana“, every question and my choices are in Romaji. For example it‘s „Watashi no inu desu“ instead of „わたし の いぬ です“. It would be better in kana because i activated „ i already know the kana“.

Also, i cannot send feedback on the app itself. As soon as i start writing, there is no way to close the keyboard to be able to press the „send“ button. Its behind the keybord.

### 3/5 — Sigh, good app but…

*2024-12-11, version 1.1.7*

I was looking for Japanese learning apps and found this one, checked the reviews and made sure it would not track me or see/use my data and I saw that it would not. So I downloaded it and it was actually doing good. Until I found out you can only do two lessons for free and then the rest cost money, and I was not paying for anything. Overall, good app but I did not like how you can only do two lessons for free then pay for the rest. Anyways, sayonara!

### 4/5 — good content but crashes

*2024-03-16, version 1.1.7*

i enjoy the app's content and i feel like my money is well spent. however i have an issue where if i switch to a different app in the middle of a lesson, then switch back the app crashes and i lose my progress on the lesson. if this is fixed i'll change my review to 5 stars!

### 4/5 — Alright

*2023-03-27*

Not bad just can’t seem yo right I refreshed my phone app acting a little weird pls just a reminder this app is only kana so if u wanted to learn kanji sorry but overall it okay but glitches like crazy some times barely happens though so overall I rate it a 4 a asked for a update a little over 1year ago app is old any waypls update. It’s bin a year since other comment thought I would update y’all it’s still super weird and glitches a-lout more so pls do not download Give it a 1 star sorry to glitchy but overall it’s not to shabby so I’m changing it to a 3still don’t recommend

### 4/5 — Why do I need to pay?

*2023-01-25, version 1.1.7*

I love the fact that I can learn some Japanese, and because I’m 10 years old, I can’t really pay for the rest of the lesions! I do have a lot of fun on this app, and even got my sister into it, but I wish I didn’t have to pay. In my bank account I have $20.00. In cash I have around $10.00. I do not know how to pay for the lesions myself even thought I DO have a bank account. Maybe open up just a few more lesions and I will be very happy!

### 3/5 — Not to bad

*2022-08-15, version 1.1.7*

There’s only four lessons if you don’t wanna pay some money. I would love if the creator made a lot more free lessons and more levels.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2022-06-29, version 1.1.7*

Please try, it’s awesome.

### 3/5 — Love it but

*2022-06-22, version 1.1.7*

Love this app but at times I have to rewrite a kanji 15times in order for it to go through and just times I just give up and rage quit the app all together. Idk if it can be fixed but it’s a huge pain

### 3/5 — Good

*2022-06-01*

It’s a good application but why not free for all levels?

### 5/5 — Really good

*2022-05-08*

Great very cheap I learned fast :)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-02-17, version 1.1.7*

I like this app. It’s best to learn with a child also, simple to use and the sounds add to the learning

### 4/5 — Good app but one thing

*2021-11-12, version 1.1.7*

Amazing app I have learned so much and I’m not even half way into the lessons. But there is one thing, most of the lessons are not free but again I have learned a lot.

### 4/5 — Can't access this app

*2021-11-02, version 1.1.7*

I bought this app ,deleted it accidentally, tried to reinstall it and it won’t let me pass after the second lessons. I really like this app and wish I could access the entire lesson. I don't know what else to do to gsin access again. it’s telling me it’s not connected to iTunes. What! Help!

### 5/5 — Love it😝

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-09-12, version 1.1.7*

I use a combination of apps to learn Japanese and this app is one of my favorites by far! I wish they had an android version for my friends.

### 5/5 — Great app for beginners

*2021-09-02, version 1.1.7*

I love how this app has everything from hiragana to sentence structure.

### 5/5 — Excellent !

*2021-08-28*

J’aime vraiment beaucoup !

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why do I have to pay to learn Japanese

*2021-02-24, version 1.1.7*

You have to pay to finish the rest of the levels I think that is a very stupid

### 1/5 — Don’t want to pay

*2021-01-29*

I’m rating one star, because why make people pay further than 3 lessons, it would be better to just make people pay for the app- then i wouldn’t have wasted my time

### 1/5 — Pronunciation is garbage

*2020-10-11, version 1.1.7*

Learning from this app could seriously waste a ton of your time as the pronunciation is computer generated and sounds nothing like natural speech. I’m rating it one star because I highly dislike low-effort stuff like this.

### 1/5 — I don’t like it

*2019-07-19*

Turn off this app because it gives you the first lesson for free but then once you want to go onto the second one or the third one or basically any other lesson it tells you that you have to pay I would pay for this it’s a good game honestly but I wish I was aware at first before getting the game that you had to pay because I sort of got attached to it don’t get me wrong it’s a really good app but I just don’t like how you have to pay for it because A lot of people put a lot a of their time into this app so they can learn whatever language for example me learning Japanese I don’t like how you sort of ruin peoples commitment I wish that they fix this in the future and that no one else goes through what I went through

### 1/5 — Japanese pronunciation very wrong with foreign intonations

*2019-06-18, version 1.1.7*

I was excited to try this app, but I can not recommend this to anybody... I am a native Japanese speaker. Even from the first several words “otoko” for man and “onna” for woman, the intonation is wrong....
Japanese language has intonations up and down and it is VERY important . In writing, two words can look the same but depending on the intonation, the meaning with change. One of the very common examples are “Ame” (‘A’ with higher tone, ‘me’ with lower tone) which means “rain”, and aME (‘a’ with lower tone and ‘ME’ with higher tone) which means candy.
So I hope you get my point and why my review is one star.

### 1/5 — ANNOYED

*2019-01-07*

I got this app and I got really exited so I completed lesson one and two and then it said that I had to buy the rest and I was soo annoyed

### 1/5 — i loveD it (BEWARE)

*2018-01-29*

it was great. it went downhill when i purchased all levels. after i tried to pay, the levels didn’t load. i reloaded the app, restarted my phone and nothing. sent an email (no response) and then immediately, the levels loaded. i never got charged for the purchase but after it loaded, my phone crashed. i have since reset my entire phone and did a full restore from no backup on itunes and still have a barely functioning iphone8+. my phone constantly crashes, there is no sound or vibration, any video play or app with a camera crashes my phone. it all started after i “purchased” the levels on this app.

*update* the $5.99 payment did go through however, i’ve already uninstalled the app with no intention of reinstalling...

### 2/5 — How to cancel monthly subscription?

*2022-09-06*

I couldn’t find contact information to cancel monthly subscription

### 2/5 — Good until I had to pay

*2022-01-09*

I understand you need money, but it really frustrating trying to find an easy source to learn Japanese for free

### 2/5 — Not so good

*2021-07-12*

Hi I wanted to learn Japanese so I could know the basics before my Japanese class. It teaches me a lot but I have a big problem. When I went to lesson 2 it said I had to pay for it.. I was really angry. Please make all lessons free. -Scarlett

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So easy

*2026-03-01, version 1.1.7*

Easy Japanese is so easy a caveman can to it.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2025-12-29, version 1.1.7*

This app was simple to use and is great as if you mess it up it adds to your recap list. Only issue is that it’s $9.89 but money well spent

### 5/5 — A great tool!

*2025-01-11, version 1.1.7*

I was honestly scared to get into this because most apps I trusted went on too long learning the same stuff and never really reviewing it. This app on the other hand moves at a faster pace making you forget it but always coming back to it in the next lesson making your brain remember it faster! Definitely a happy customer! So lucky I bought the full pack!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2023-08-24, version 1.1.7*

I’ve been learning for the past 2 weeks. I’ve learned so much! Still ways to go! Lessons were very affordable. I love it! Simple and easy to understand.

### 5/5 — Good app to learn Japanese!

*2023-05-27, version 1.1.7*

For a long time, I’ve been using Duolingo to learn but I just got started on the first lesson of this app and I think it will be decent!

### 5/5 — Best app to learn Japanese

*2023-04-29*

I absolutely love this app. It is very well thought out and teaches you quickly. I really like that it integrates vocabulary and syntax as well as kana and kanji from the start (instead of starting out in romaji, which is a huge mistake I made years ago). It gets you quite far so quickly. I have never come across a language learning method so efficient. I wish it existed for other languages like Korean. I think it’s brilliant. Highly recommend if you want to quickly get up to speed in Japanese.

### 5/5 — Super fun

*2023-03-10, version 1.1.7*

I like learning in general, so I am loving this app. They way things are subtly scaled up is challenging, but so satisfying! I am SO proud of myself when I get the questions right, and I find myself sounding out words in Japanese (hiragana and kanji) already after a few lessons! I am enjoying this more than I thought I would!

### 5/5 — Actually kind of fun

*2023-02-20, version 1.1.7*

The title ^
Worth a couple bucks.
ALWAYS DO THE REVIEWS!
I notice a pattern in the order they teach:
1. Vocabs,
2. Phonics,
3. Review

Love how they always introduce 2 concepts at a time and questions you right away so you don’t forget!

My only complaint for the devs: It’s a shame this app doesn’t show up in the appstore when “japanese” is searched, you gotta search “learn japanese”

### 5/5 — great app

*2023-01-13, version 1.1.7*

app works well - no complaints!

### 5/5 — Best program I’ve found!

*2022-08-20, version 1.1.7*

This app has been all-around wonderful. I’ve been checking back for years now, hoping that there are more levels released. I feel like I downloaded and tried every Japanese learning program out there for both Apple and Android and none have compared to this app for me. Amazing job, developers. 10/10 recommend and still hoping for more levels in the future☺️
