*2021-12-15, version 1.9.0*

I love love LOVE this app, it’s so relaxing and fun and actually makes me motivated to learn Chinese by using fun little mini games and activities. I cannot believe that this app isn’t topping charts yet because it has a very good layout and concept. I will definitely be using this app daily and recommending it to friends. Thank you for the help <3 !

### 5/5 — How have I not seen this

*2021-11-25, version 1.9.0*

This app is great so far! I already speak and write Mandarin Chinese so I’ve been testing out apps to see what my husband and kids would like for practice and if the higher levels are any good. Seriously though, I’m glad I came across this- it’s free with ads I believe which is AMAZING!

### 5/5 — Need more levels!

*2021-08-24, version 1.9.0*

This is the first mandarin learning app that my children actually enjoy playing. They loved it so much they finished all the levels! Hope more will be added soon. I’ve recommended it to many of my friends.

### 5/5 — So cute

*2021-08-18, version 1.9.0*

This app is fun to use, and it’s cute. I like the pacing and exercises. I want to have an album of the peaceful music between lessons. It’s so pretty.

### 5/5 — I would recommend

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-02-09, version 1.9.0*

It’s a nice app to learn mandarin. You can change between simplified and traditional and even pick zhuyin for phonetic aid. It has HSK levels but also interactive elements. What’s best is that you can unlock everything for 12$ instead of having a subscription model.

### 5/5 — So cute and immersive!!

*2021-01-18, version 1.9.0*

Fun to use. I hope there’s lots of levels!!

### 5/5 — Fun App

*2020-11-04, version 1.9.0*

Underrated app deserves more recognition, kudos to the creators! 🥰

### 5/5 — Great!

*2020-10-17, version 1.9.0*

Great app, very detailed and cute! Thank you!

To clarify, this is a one time payment kind of app right? You won’t change to a monthly thing? Cause I would buy it if it’s a one time payment!!

It would be so cool if you made versions of this app for other languages. Especially Spanish! 😋

Also, how do I find my list of vocabulary so I can study them?

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2020-10-10, version 1.9.0*

One of the most helpful Mandarin Learning apps and is fun too. Thank you!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Sucky terrible and bad

*2023-08-23, version 1.9.0*

The internet connection has fleas behind the ears, but they have decided to take it out tomorrow night. Still, I don’t think it would have to come to this. Thank you Virginia.

### 3/5 — Like the app but can’t upgrade

*2024-02-24, version 1.9.0*

I got this app to learn some mandarin and have been enjoying it but it won’t let you upgrade it no matter what so it can’t be used to its full potential. Would definitely be worth 5 stars if it was fixed

### 3/5 — Speech is way too fast

*2019-02-17, version 1.9.0*

I just started using this App, and as a learner of pinyin for many years, I have one very important suggestion. Please slow down the speech of the words we can listen to! There has to be an easy to hear difference between the 4 tones.
Right from the start, the word nǚ should be pronounced to hear the 3rd Tone clearly (the sound going down and then up). Speed comes later, once the learner understands the tones.
I will use this App again once this has been corrected, as right now it’s not very useful to me.

BTW, I tried using your Feedback feature within the App for this above suggestion, but it didn’t let me send it, telling me there’s no internet connection, while that isn’t the case.

### 3/5 — Not enough content, and too easy

*2018-11-18, version 1.7.1*

I've been learning chinese for around 4 years in school, but it hasn't really stuck with me. this app looked promising so I decided to purchase the EIGHT DOLLAR full version.

I feel like I got scammed. Only 11 lessons, yet one of the achievements is "master degree".

They say to be continued, which is great, but I would have appreciated more content as I want to become fluent.

The game itself is very intuitive and interesting, but it has a few flaws.

The lessons, ESPECIALLY the "missions" at the end of each island are overbearingly easy. How is a 3 question AB format "challenge" really able to test someone's chinese speaking, writing, and reading skills?

But overall, still a very awesome and functional idea. I think it has a lot of potential.

Thanks

### 4/5 — GEM

*2023-02-22, version 1.9.0*

This is a great app! It’s a fun way to learn, however, I do wish there was a way that I could skip levels without having to go through the basics first.

### 4/5 — Very enjoyable learning game but room to improve.

*2021-07-18, version 1.9.0*

Having a lot of fun learning so far; however my biggest concern is the audio. It would be nice if the audio was higher quality. I can’t tell if it’s an actual person talking or text to speech. Definitely need good audio for a tonal language.

### 4/5 — Great compliment to have/use

*2020-09-18, version 1.9.0*

Great tool to use to get into Chinese and the pronunciation. The location/context based learning is very effective. I started a formal course and this is way better than that at a basic level, but having a teacher and book gives you some additional information or makes it easier with some of the letters that aren’t pronounced as they are written. I suggest you take a Chinese course to make this tool even more powerful.

Suggestions: I think it needs a better search tool for words and phrases. Not limited to what you have seen already either. Also it should let you group up words and phrases contextually in the book word bank. It gets too cluttered otherwise. The tests also could be better as they are bit sized. Other type of tests would be nice. Like having the missions self generate conversations in another stage or in the review section. I would add a web browser stage with words for all the things we use online.

### 5/5 — Learn Mandarin -Ed Wonderland

*2026-05-21, version 1.9.0*

It is very very good app.

### 5/5 — Excited to Try

*2025-11-08, version 1.9.0*

Excited to try this out, will write a more detailed review after using. Do you guys still update and improve the app? Just wondering because the App Store says that the last “what’s new?” update was six years ago.

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2025-03-28, version 1.9.0*

This is one of my favorite apps for learning Chinese. I do wish it was still being updated.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple app

*2024-02-28, version 1.9.0*

I enjoy the simple interface and to make it a little game to learn small words and the new beta option to learn longer sentences I think will be good. I have almost finished my Duo Lingo so having an app like this is great to practice all the words and to increase my memory of each character. I use many Chinese learning apps. This one makes it fun to learn.

### 5/5 — Cute and fun learning game !!

*2023-10-17, version 1.9.0*

Only 10 minutes in and loving this game already! Only if they could have both simplified and traditional displaying at the same time for those who are interested in learning both characters

### 5/5 — Beautiful and interesting game

*2023-06-11, version 1.9.0*

Despite it being an educational app, I still would like to call it a game - my 8 year old son was very motivated to practice mandarin here.
Thank you!
Is it only 50 lessons? We finished the game not paying anything, waiting when the free option ends. But I don’t see any invitation to continue after 50 lessons :(

### 5/5 — A great little game to learn Chinese!

*2023-02-14, version 1.9.0*

It is up there with the best apps that I have downloaded to learn Chinese; I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

### 5/5 — I love this app

*2022-11-30, version 1.9.0*

I am new to learning mandarin and this app has made learning a new language fun!!!

### 5/5 — Great app with no bait n switch!

*2022-10-17, version 1.9.0*

This is the way apps should work ! Unlike Fieldrunners2 which takes yer money and then doesn’t allow you to use the so called bonus coins etc! I have purchased this app and I am a happy camper. Why pay money and even expensive subscription for the other popular Chinese apps? This app is entertaining as well as suitable educational value.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2022-08-20, version 1.9.0*

The most fun way to learn mandarin, they should add more chapters.
