### 1/5 — Poor development, lots of bugs, no support

*2021-11-30, version 2.8.0*

I’ve tried using this app off and on, but there are far too many bugs for this to be useable. The audio stops working randomly. Awful GUI. The app crashes. I have a paid account, but I can’t access that account on my iPad, only on my iPhone. When you try to find support, the only place you can go is a community forum, which no one responds to.

### 1/5 — Sound not working

*2021-03-13*

Enjoyed the free version so I purchased the 3 month option. After the purchase the sound stopped working. So I tried everything I could think of to fix the sound. So my last resort was to delete and reload the app. And then when I logged in. And tried to use the version I paid for it’s telling me that I need to purchase the app again ,,,,

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry to hear you have a problem. You can restore your purchase on the settings page. Make sure you are logged in to your iPhone with the user that bought the subscription. The sound in iOS only works with the Do not disturb hardware switch turned off. Hope that helps you.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2020-11-30*

Sound isn’t working

**Developer response:** Hi,
Please let me know which device you have and if your hardware sound switch is not on silent mode. I have an iPhone 11 and sound works fine.
If sound works, please reconsider your review.
Thanks

### 2/5 — Can’t hear the sound

*2024-12-04, version 2.8.0*

Even the sound setting is on

### 2/5 — Sound stopped working

*2022-02-12*

I loved this app and it was going so well but before I finished the first section the sound quit working. Thank have an iPhone 11 Pro and it is not on silent mode. I’m so sad because this would be an amazing app otherwise 😢

### 3/5 — it’s getting there..

*2022-07-28, version 2.8.0*

so far the content has been ok but the audio randomly stops working halfway through a test. this will literally make me fail because i can’t hear notes without audio. my ringer is on, volume is up, do not disturb is off. please fix this or i can’t continue to use this app.

### 3/5 — Great app, but audio stutters

*2021-04-18*

I have last years iPhone and the audio stutters in Sonid. Is there any way to fix this?

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. I am aware of the issue. If you want to help please send me an email with a video where the stuttering happens.

### 3/5 — This needs a lot of work, both on the technical and educational quality.

*2021-02-08*

I am 47 years old. I believe my self to be of at least average intelligence. I have been playing drums in all kinds of rock bands for the last 30 years of my life. I know how to read a drum chart. I’ve put “musician” as my occupation on my tax return. This app, at least in the three beginner modules I’ve sampled (naturals, prime 1, second 1), is confusing and has weird technical issues. I paid for 3 months of subscription before really giving it a try. I hope it gets better.

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry to hear you have problems with the app. Could you please send me an email explaining your issues so I can fix them? Thank you!

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2021-02-01*

The lessons are keyboard based, but the keyboard is tiny and the app cannot be viewed horizontally.

I am on the major second section, and am asked to play two notes, but there is no sound when I play them. The explanation of major second is confusing. Why is it a major second between C and D, two semi-tones between, and also E and F, one semi-tone between?

You cannot advance to other levels without passing earlier levels. The pace of this app is excruciatingly slow. The C is always present on the keyboard, which is not real life and I would like the option to turn it off.

**Developer response:** Hi! Sorry to hear you have problems with the app.

Please ensure that your Do Not Disturb hardware switch is off to be able to hear sound in the app. Please review the video and "How to identify an interval?" section in the wikipedia of the major second to get an answer to your question. E to F is not a major second for example.

As for advancing to higher levels more quickly, you actually can. And it was also explained in the app intro. Either click on the key-icon in the purple menu that comes up when opening a lesson to a subject to go to a lesson which will unlock gold immediately if passed. Or scroll down until you find a subject you think is the right level and click on the nearest lock-icon to go to a lesson which will unlock everything until there if passed.

I hope to have answered your questions.
Cheers.

### 3/5 — No sound

*2020-12-12*

I turned off my DND just in case, but there still isn't any sound. :-(

**Developer response:** Hi, could you let me know which device you are using?

### 5/5 — Great little app that needs more recognition

*2022-07-05*

I really like this app, it is laid out in a nice tree format and teaches you in small steps. This really needs a lot more recognition than it receives! Fantastic little app!

### 5/5 — Amazing !!

*2020-11-30, version 1.5.4*

Wow this is perfect !! Love the GUI and the info!! Great work!!

### 4/5 — Please Fix This

*2026-07-08*

The triad section is broken and unpassable. The exercise asks you to build a full triad, but the app won't let you register three notes (section two) — so a correctly placed chord gets marked wrong every time. Entering the notes one at a time doesn't help either; it still counts a right answer as wrong. There is no way to complete the section, which means there's no way to progress in the app at all. This isn't difficulty, it's a straight-up bug that makes the core lessons unusable. I liked the one-concept-at-a-time approach up to this point, so fix the triad input and I'll gladly raise the rating. As it stands I can't recommend paying for something you can't actually finish.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for sharing your bug report. I have actually worked really hard past month to completely revise the app to native swift ui. And made major improvements to question answering and grading. I am sure it will fix this bug and work towards a release next week. I hope it helps you, otherwise please let me know through info@sonid.app

### 4/5 — Great, one problem tho

*2025-04-05*

On the web version the guitar isn’t loading but I do recommend

### 4/5 — Really good! Although, one minor annoyance

*2023-02-08*

This app is amazing for training you on music theory concepts. it’s very engaging and the content sticks pretty well! My one annoyance is the app can get pretty laggy and sometimes you’ll press a button several times thinking it didn’t register and then they’ll all happen at once after causing you to input the incorrect answer on accident. i think you shouldn’t be able to press submit if you haven’t answered the question yet.

### 4/5 — Sound not working

*2022-06-15*

The ideas are great, it’s just the sound doesn’t play back sometimes. Sometimes I only hear one note when it’s asking for intervals, and sometimes notes just don’t play. If sound worked consistently, it’d be really good.

### 4/5 — Sound not working

*2020-12-05*

Could you please help me? Sound isn’t working and I want to give 5 stars but I need the sound. I am on iphone8

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for using and rating Sonid.
I have put a lot of work on fixing the sound problem on iOS and am quite sure it works now. Although, it does not work with the silent mode switch on! So maybe that's the problem?
Otherwise, send me an email with some more details and i'll look at it.
