It just teaches the rules of poker. ### 1/5 — Can’t see text at bottom of screen *2021-03-04* The text gets cut off most of the time at the bottom. Unusable. **Developer response:** Thank you so much for your vital feedback. I worked through each quiz on this app on iPhone 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 on both the SE, standard and larger models, and also on the 2 most recent iPad devices looking for problems like this. I really want to fix this issue but I don't understand exactly which device (or settings?) you are using where my app's layout breaks down, so I'm helpless to do anything about it. Please contact me directly at jelletoksoftware@gmail.com (or if you can edit your review, include your device type in the review) and I'm confident I can fix this for any screen size, not only for you but for anyone else who is in your situation - I would appreciate it tremendously if you did. You can also try tapping 'settings' and then under 'adjust font size' tap the minus button to make the text smaller, this may make it fit and resolve your problem immediately. Finally, I know it's not helpful but I apologize personally to you - downloading an app with a broken layout is a frustrating waste of your time and an unacceptable mistake on my part. ### 1/5 — Frustrating *2020-05-17* If you really don’t know how to play poker, this isn’t going to teach you. As far as I can tell you can not enter a correct answer to some of the quizzes. But I’m not sure, so I can only say I don’t have enough information and it’s frustrating. You should be able to find out what is the correct answer after a couple of wrong tries. In the quizzes, you should be able to tap terms to be reminded of what they mean. Instead, if you are stuck, all you can do is tap “skip quiz” to get to the next one. Honestly, after trying for a while, this app is making me feel like learning poker on my phone is too complicated. But I’ll try a couple other apps before I give up. **Developer response:** Arf, I'm sorry that you had a bad time with this app. Thank you for giving it a shot and for giving specific tips on how to improve it! Update: implemented your suggestion about getting the correct answer after consecutive misses.. Thanks again! ### 2/5 — New to poker but I thought aces are high? *2022-02-21* This app appears to confuse where the ace is in the hierarchy. Sometimes it’s high, sometimes it’s low and sometimes I’ve send wrap around straights **Developer response:** Hey Tallremedy! Aces are indeed the highest ranking card, but it's also legal to make a low straight with A-2-3-4-5. You should think of it as using the Ace like a 1, not as wrapping around, because that straight is a 5-high straight which loses to 2-3-4-5-6. Furthermore, actual "wrap-arounds" like K-A-2-3-4 are not legal straights. A-2-3-4-5 being a straight is not very logically consistent so it's normal to be confused at first, but you'll get used to it quickly! ### 2/5 — Paid but not a complete set of lessons *2022-02-02* There is very little content once you pay and even an ask for more money for another single lesson. Most links in the app simply point to other apps. As far as the content, it’s ok but very light with little explanation once the topics get more difficult. Even there the odds, which should be the most heavily covered, only have a small number or examples. Hardly worth the money. Look elsewhere. **Developer response:** Hi mcarthey. That's painful to hear - my intention is actually to overdeliver on quality/content and keep the price as low as possible, but thank you for being honest. Poker is a vast and difficult subject and I can't possibly cover everything, especially when my target audience is the complete beginner, but maybe I could add more quizzes on odds. If you reach out to me I'll be happy to explain odds to you personally and answer any questions you have on it. (It might help me understand what I can do to improve my app). On links to other apps for content, I think you mean the 2 buttons in the title screen that link to my social media? That's just there in case you want to get in touch. If it's ever a nuisance, maybe I should get rid of it. Hope to hear from you - Jelle. ### 4/5 — Great for unbiased learning *2025-06-27* I have learned a lot using Learn Poker because the app is more focuses on educating the user about how to play poker, which was difficult to do on casino-oriented apps. Although, I think the developers need to update the app for errors or discrepancies in the hands presented in a few quiz questions; I perceive some answers to not align with what some of the questions/hands. ### 4/5 — Needs more substance *2022-04-16* 90% of this is the most basic level of instructions on how to play Texas hold ‘em which is free with a basic google search. The last ‘module’ begins to look beyond the very basic and is what most are willing to pay for but the 20ish questions that your tasked with answering prob are not worth even the $1.99 asking price. But with a bit more content it would be totally worth it. Instead it wants you to pay an additional .99 to get what prob should just be included in the first place. My bet is they bait you with those last questions so that you feel confident the additional .99 is a + EV and you’ll just go ahead and pay it. **Developer response:** Hi SouthShoreAK! You're right, it's the most basic possible information starting right from the ranking of the hands. You can definitely find that information for free, but I'm not a fan of how it's generally presented. That's why I worked hard to offer a different (hopefully easier) way to learn it. There are 90 questions included for the asking price, not 20! And optionally 50 more for $0.99. ### 5/5 — Trainee Croupier *2025-12-05* Excellent app for learning poker ### 5/5 — Suits? *2022-12-02* Not able to input answers to quizzes because no apparent way to select the suit of a card.
