I’m planning on going to Mexico and wanted to learn a few basic phrases to get around. Really helpful that I could switch between Mexican Spanish and Spanish from Spain. This app has been a big help to make the grade in Spanish class. A lot of the lessons have phrases that are similar to my textbook but lots of them go off the beaten track. Pick-up lines, lol 😻also phrases to use at a hostel. Hearing the phrases pronounced is useful but saying them yourself and having the app tell you if you got it right is 🔥 Other exercises are good for remembering phrases. The exercise to practice pronouncing Spanish phrases is a keeper. I didn’t realize you have to tap the microphone a second time to end recording. Would have liked more help on this but very useful when you get a hang of it. The updates keep coming. Liking the new Christmas theme in settings. Noticed that you can control the speed of the voices if you want to hear the Spanish phrases pronounced slower. The icing on the cake is the dancing panda if you get enough exercises correct. It’s easy to navigate or search for both common phrases and specific terms. There are multiple tools built in for learning, including audio pronunciation, speaking, and, recognition practice which I think is important for different types of learners and also to fully learn the terms. There is a cool favorites option but you have to press and hold for it to pop up, so I think favoriting terms could be made easier. Also, I would love to see other languages added to the app! I use this app to help me learn basic Spanish phrases to communicate better with them so I don’t lose their business. It has lessons for greetings and basic conversation, like “can you repeat that?” or “can you speak slowly?” and also a lot of phrases that I’m planning to use on vacation. One feature that is really helpful is the translator. If I search for a phrase and it’s not in any of the lessons, I can tap on Translate and it will provide the answer. Another feature that is Gold is AI Chat. I can ask it anything about Spanish like what are some common Spanish phrases to use in a laundromat and it will tell me. So it’s nice to know some Spanish for conversation and this app is a quick way to get there. I don’t really want to play language games or do vocab lists. It has been really helpful for learning how to communicate at the airport, talking to the taxi driver and getting around town. My wife is pretty impressed how quickly I picked up some useful phrases in such a short time. That’s mostly due to the exercises that help you with pronunciation. You can just speak a phrase at the app and it will tell you is your pronunciation is comprehensible. Very cool indeed!
